They're in Newport Beach, California, one of the most expensive places in the US, in one of the most expensive local grocery stores. Do NOT take the prices in THAT store as typical of the whole country. The $20 cheese was most likely imported from Italy. My local supermarket also has an in-house bakery that sells fresh bread and pastries. They have similar cakes... but at HALF of those prices. My supermarket does NOT sell $100 champagne. In fact, in my state supermarkets can't sell alcoholic beverages.

El Nino is actually Spanish for El Niño (Spanish for 'the Christ Child'). Hispanic people also use it commonly as, the young boy. It refers to a warming of the ocean surface, or above-average sea surface temperatures, in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. This bring on harsh weather events, mostly affecting coastal areas but can travel further in land. In general, El Niño conditions lead to wetter, snowier conditions in Amarillo and cooler maximum temperatures during the winter. La Niña conditions lead to drier and warmer temperatures overall, with notable extreme cold spells. In stronger El Niño or La Niña episodes, these trends are even greater

The way the phone is moving around, he'd be in trouble for using his phone while driving. Only hands-free features can be used while driving. It does vary from state to state, but he's in California and they're quite strict. For the most part, our berry selection is strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and blackberry ... also cranberry in the autumn and winter. Occasionally you'll find very special regional or seasonal berries -- but no one would have a clue what you mean by red berries but we do sometimes have red currants. Bristol Farms is a VERY upscale grocery store and they carry the finest quality you can find, so yes, it's expensive. It's funny how they're in Newport Beach and talking about crime. It's probably one of the safest (and wealthiest) communities in SoCal.

I've not been in a Bristol Farms, but those prices are high-end items or over-priced for what they are looking at. California has some very "organic-loving" people, which raises their prices. "El Nino" is a weather pattern that California blames for their extreme weather, which is sometimes very dry, and other times very wet. My mom told me, when I was a kid, "If it doesn't have a price, it's either too expensive, or it's not for sale." 😂

El niño and la niña translate to little boy and little girl, respectively. It's based on the heat in the Pacific Ocean on the West Coast. El Niño usually has wetter weather for California and la niña usually causes due weather for California. Each has its difficulties to the agriculture of California. The wetter weather causes flooding and the dryer weather causes fights and wildfires. It's kind of the Cliffs Notes version of the two and they cause different weather patterns to different parts of the US.

If you have your phone out in the car on a California roadway, you're driving (in motion, not parked) and it's visible to the police, you CAN be ticketed. But people do it anyway. It causes accidents and road rage incidents. It's not uncommon in traffic for people using their cellphones to leave a big distance between their car and the car in front of them: it's a dead giveaway. Pull up next to them and sure enough, they're staring at their phones instead of paying attention to traffic.

Honestly dried fish is basically pure salt with the fish flavor amped up. It’s the easiest thing to do ever. Gut the fish and leave it the sun for a day or two and that’s it. The sun dries fish fast. I end up making it at least once a year during the winter. It just sits in the freezer and keeps forever. I use it a lot because I’m Asian and a lot of recipes have it included. It’s a replacement for salt or fish sauce. Yeah we use a lot dried or fermented things.

Cell phone usage is ok in the US if youre using hands-free. They were using the cell as a map, this is legal. Some States have tried to ban their use completely, claiming that it can take your eyes off the road or, you may receive a disturbing phone call that may take your attention away from your driving. I dont know if any States have succeeded. This is only likely in the Nanny Leftist States that think we all need hand holding and permanent mommy & Daddy. As an example, NYC made it illegal to walk & use a cell phone at the same time. This was because a woman once walked into a lamp post in Manhatten, because she was distracted by her phone. San Francisco tried doing the same, but it wasnt based on an actual incident. San Francisco wanted it based on the experience of NYC. God forbid anyone accidently stick a fork in their nose while eating out on a first date. They would outlaw eating while dating.🤪😱🤣🤣 You can often find people breaking the law, though

California store prices are terrifying. I've seen cheaper prices elsewhere.

Bristol Farms is probably on the same price scale as Fortnum & Mason in the UK

Wow I never even realized that you guys don't have artichokes over there. Well, I can tell you this. You guys are missing something. You steal them for approximately 1 hour to soften the hard leaves. You then make a dip that you put the leaves into and scrape the meat off the leaf with your teeth. The most popular dip, at least on the West Coast is to make a dip with Mayonnaise, real lemon juice and pepper and dill. Awesome.

Whole grilled fish is a staple in Asia. Those were likely caught the night before and thrown onto the grill 5 minutes before they got there. I don’t know why but the head is fine as we see it as you should not waste anything and we put everything to some use. Beef used to really rare around coastal regions in Asia so we had to make do with other protein sources and fish is readily available. Basically you waste nothing if it’s on the plate. Pork is available and so are chickens. You wouldn’t complain if it’s covered in soy sauce and peppers though.

He obviously went to some of the more expensive supermarkets with imported food also. Not sure where all you went in California but there are a lot. Of places in California where food is normal price too I lived there for a while work there. Adjust depends where, and what store you go to.

Nope I grow my own beef. Take it to the butcher. Grow my own pig too. My own chicken. If I go hunting for wild game. The only thing I do by is actual seafood. You can't get me off a lobster tails and crab legs. Now walleye I just go to Minnesota for that. And go to one of the 11,834 lakes. I prefer North Long lake or gull lake
