So my first period story is actually an interesting one. I had known generally about periods for some time, so I wasn't too shocked when it happened. That day I was supposed to go on a plane ride with a couple of my siblings. I was super excited for it, and when everyone was going to go to the bathroom before leaving, I saw the blood. It has only JUST barely started, so it was very dark; almost unrecognizable, so I wasn't sure whether it was blood or not. But I told my mom about it anyway, and boy am I glad. It was my period, and the plane certainly wouldn't have any pads :P The funny thing is that I hardly ever have cramps, and if I do, they are very weak. Which is pretty nice since I have trouble taking pills. The one thing that suprised my though, was the fact that your period lasts a few days. I had thought that it happened over only a period of hours T-T (haha, period) Edit: Dang I hadn't expected to blow up but it is really cool to hear everyone else's stories and experiences!

I had already gotten “the Talk” before I had my period, so I wasn’t surprised when I first had it. But my first experience was not fun! My class was going on a all-day field trip and right as we were preparing to leave, I went to the bathroom and saw the blood. Fortunately, I had pads ready because my mom had hers around the same age and wanted me to be prepared. But the whole trip, the cramps made me sure my insides were on fire! I was at school and I arrived at my second lesson and all of a sudden that’s when the cramps kicked in, and half way through the lesson it got worse. I went to my teacher (thank god she was a woman) and I ask to go to the nurse, she asks why. I respond with ‘it’s that time of the month and my cramps hurt really bad can I please go to the nurse’ she responds with ‘no’. I had to sit and wait for the lesson to end, and when I got up when the bell went, I got light headed and dizzy, I slowly made my way To the nurse with some of my friends, I sat down outside for 10 minutes for the nurse to even get to me. Then I explained and she said she can’t give me anything. Like GIRL GIVE ME SOMETHING THEN! She called my mom and my mom took me home and I was given painkillers and it took 20 mins for it to kick in and then I got to relax with the rest of the day with no school
@wordsmith61542 жыл бұрын
Throughout middle and high school, I was always scared of my teachers and tried to do things how they wanted them done without question. When I was in 7th grade (around the time I had first gotten my period, which I had actually gotten on my sister's birthday that year), I remember our gym teacher sitting both the boys and girls down and scolded us because, apparently, people were using periods and herpes as an excuse to get out of class. She said, "I'm a girl, so I know how bad periods are but you have to come to school. And while herpes are uncomfortable, it's really your fault for kissing someone anyway." I mean, sure, but really? This then resulted, for years, anytime I had a bad period day, when my mom would ask me if I'd rather stay home, that teacher's words would ring through my head and I'd insist that I go and I'd just suffer through the whole day because, guess what? My mom had a falling out with our doctor so no doctor's note for painkillers and now I had to make sure I got my painkillers early so I could go through the day without dying and hope to God I didn't have to stay after that day. Towards the end of my senior year, the pain was bad. What was even worse though was because of how bloated I was, I was constantly running to the bathroom to go #2. My mom suggested I stay home, I refused, and then she kept me home anyway. After having me explain to her what I explained before, she told me that while that teacher was kind of right, it's still okay to have a day off or two if it's really bad. So I got to stay home all day and binge-watch the rest of the Harry Potter movies I had yet to see at that point. That was a good day. Fun side note, I haven't had my period in over a month. I don't have sex so I'm definitely not pregnant but my brain likes to scare myself into thinking I'm having early menopause. When the body waits is when I end up with one hurting like hell when it finally comes back with a vengeance.
@Midnightaperson2 жыл бұрын
once it was my period and unlike all my rest, there was no pain and like no blood. the next month it was the same and i was like "wait does this mean my periods wont hurt anymore?" i was so wrong. the next month was my worst period.
@bluxray8155 Жыл бұрын
I think many gym teachers think that periods is just an excuse to take the day off, even the female gym teachers who should know how bad periods can get. In reality, it hurts like hell and you're feeling like you are about to throw up and the gym teacher stands there being like: ,, Oh, come on, give it a try, it can't be that bad😄". Like, how are you supposed to know what I'm feeling like right now?!?! I feel like I'm about to die!!!!! Anyway, I think you get the point, that many teachers (and also many other people) often don't take period pain seriously.

I remember the month before I got my first period, for some reason my body did a test run I guess, and I was in the middle of a tennis lesson with my MALE coach and I felt something. I was like "wtf did I just get my period??" So I asked to go to the bathroom and checked, to find that brown blood you see at the end of your period (or start). I was in shock, and in panic mode. I ran back and asked my coach to use his phone to call my mom, and he goes "why".. I just kinda stood there awkwardly in silence and then he got the memo and was like "OH OK." so I freaked out and called my mom, after I continued the lesson like nothing happened 😭

So context for my story, for some reason I cannot physically take pills so when I have periods I normally have to tough it out and thankfully the pain is minimal EXCEPT FOR ONCE DURING SCHOOL. Now I remember how I had art and just being in so much pain that I started to silently cry and called my mom for her to pick me up due to how intense it felt, like it felt like some cement bricks were dropped onto my stomach. Thankfully later on it started to die down and by my last period which was PE I felt a bit better BUT THEN I WAS CALLED TO THE OFFICE WHERE I WAS SCARED THAT I DID SOMETHING WRONG BUT it was just my mom who I forgot I called. Thankfully she took me home since the pain just got worse but I was able to cover myself in heating pads :’)

I was SO LUCKY when i got my period! The day right after my music camp, i was flying home (because we lived far away from where the camp actually is). About 30 mins before we left for the airport, i went to the bathroom and noticed my discharge was light brown. I was lucky enough to know that meant my period might be coming so i put on a pad. Timeskip all the way to 15 mins before i got on the plane. I was looking at the books in one of those airport stores when i got my first cramps. My mother found me sitting on the floor clutching my stomach and trying not to cry 😅 We eventually got on the plane, and the cramps did not stop until about halfway through the flight. Soon we got home and that was when my period actually started! Stay strong ladies ❤

This is just a long segment of multiple menstrual stories! We'll start with the first time I had ever gotten mine. Both my parents were working, and I had been on my couch, chillaxin', and watching whatever entertained me back then. That's when I felt like I needed to use the restroom, and I walked to my bedroom. I have been given the period talk before, so when I sat down and saw blood, I was honestly just shocked, and luck to not be confused as to why I was bleeding. I also took the TP route as I didn't have access to menstrual products at the time. I quickly messaged my mother and my stepmom and my stepmom informed me where I could find pads in her bathroom. I didn't cramp that day, which was awesome... but true horror strikes later. This is the second story, a few months after I had gotten my period. My first few menstrual cycles were okay, awkward bleeding, but I never cramped. UNTIL this one period... It suddenly hit me SO hard. It was, like you had said, being stabbed multiple times. I was curled up crying, begging for my stomach to just STOP! I ended up waddling to my sisters room, complaining, while she frantically tried to comfort me. My stepmom must've heard my wailing, because she came to see what was wrong. I was given medicine, a heating pad, and comfort. I then fell asleep on my sister's bed, and I am -to this day- happy she didn't move me, because I probably would've been super upset. Here is another story, and it happened after my period cramps had begun to worsen. My period started in school, and I was lucky to have pads on me. However, I had no medicine. I suffered for a bit, because I've always been a super shy person. It got really bad and I had to gather the courage to ask to go to the office. I reluctantly asked, and got permission. I went to the office, and my then principal called the nurse to let her know I was coming. I then had to walk out of the front of the school, then all the way AROUND the school, BEHIND it, and then all the way down the yard. The woman there said the only thing she could give me was Tylenol, which is fair. After suffering for about 45 minutes, and the wait time in the nurse's office, I got my medicine and the pain slowly went away. (But only after almost sobbing in my psychology class.) Here is my last story, which also happened yesterday. I have had symptoms of nausea in result of my periods before, so it was no surprise to me that I felt a little sick through my periods. However, I had REALLY bad period pains, and the cramping was, to put it simply, UNBEARABLE. I had already taken painkillers, and used a heating pad, but the pains only kept getting worse. It was to the point I was basically glued to the bathroom for... rather... uh, gross reasons. I was throwing up like crazy, but it was only because of the amount of pain my menstrual cramps were putting me through. I had never gone through pains like this in all of my periods, and it sucked that they kept persisting. It wasn't until my stepmother had given me 800mg Ibuprofen, and I had vomited and dry heaved really bad, that my pains finally went away. Needless to say, I will be going to the Hospital soon to talk my doctor about my menstrual cycle and figure out the severe pains behind them. Hopefully not any cists, because my twin sister has ovarian cists, and she doesn't even hurt as bad as me on her menstrual cycle.

Ok, from what I can remember this one was right near the end of 2020. I had a period that lasted around 3 weeks. Yes, constant bleeding for 3 weeks. Now at the time I was still kinda new to the cycle so I had no idea this wasn’t a normal thing until it was a bit too late- one night as I finished up my business in the bathroom and went to wash my hands I just sort of fell- I couldn’t feel any pain just confused and dazed and my mom comes in worried af, I tried to shake it off as no big deal and then I went to go back to the couch because I was hanging out in the living room at the time until suddenly I just straight up blacked out and fell on the floor. Long story short I was taken to the ER to get my first IV and a blood transfusion but I had an allergic reaction to it so they transferred me to a hospital in the next town over for a few days. So that’s where I spent my new years and when I came home I was all better and got a new phone. What’s the most unsettling part about it to me was that my mom recalled that I looked dead or that I was dying when I blacked out in the living room until I finally came too with a 106 or 103 degree fever. So that was fun 🥲

@@maya2012..M hey, a few tips from an 11 year old to another 11 year old- i've had my period for around 2 years now. it's kind of freaky when you first get it, and it's probably gonna be irregular. most likely gonna come with cramps (no tips for those because i don't get 'em). and it'll feel weird to wear pads or be "moist" down there. but you get used to it, it's not that scary! anyway, -when you're on it, tell your gym teacher -drink a bunch of water -REST -make sure to change pads/tampons regularly it may not end well if you keep the same one on for too long -DO NOT USE SCENTED PRODUCTS! -if you're afraid of leaking, i suggest investing in period underwear, it helps a lot and has saved me a bunch of fear and stained clothes -keep track of your period (when you get it, how long it lasts, flow, color, etc.) -find channels that comfort you on your period -if you notice any changes that could hint at an incoming first period, keep pads/spare clothes in your locker or bag so, i hope this helps for when you eventually do get your period :) you got this, we're in it together (damn sorry for writing that much-)

this happened during my 3rd or 4th period. when i woke up to go to school, my cramps were *terrible*. with my periods, my cramps and back pain is worse than the bleeding, and i have scoliosis back pain on top of that. i stayed home that day with my mom, a heating pad, and some midol (which sucks to take since i can't swallow pills) and i cried all day. i now take medicine that gets rid of them completely. the cramps have a vendetta against me though and say hi every once in a while

Don’t worry!! I’ve had the same cramps before ❤😢 STORY TIME ✨✨ So, when I was bout 11? I was going to a sleepover, but before I left I got my VERY FIRST period, my mum freaked out and technically chucked thousands of pads at me at once. Then when I went over to my mates house. I began getting a stomach ache of some sort, but shrugged it off. A couple of hours later. IT👏GETS👏INTERESTING👏 The stomach ache came back whilst I was watching a movie with TONS of crap (junk food) to eat. At the time I never heard of cramps, so I figured that it was the amount of food I ate. So I stopped, until the pain got WORSE ✨ So I asked my friends mum for some water and painkillers, but oh my god. Did the painkillers work may you ask? NO, No they did not. So I was panicking thinking I’m not well cause back when I was 8 I had these HORRIBLE stomach aches, so I figured it was that. But then, I wanted to throw up, my stomach felt like it was shot 28 times! They got so bad to the point that I couldn’t even breathe. Even heat pads couldn’t work cause the pain was excruciating!! In the end, I went home and cried 😢 MY STORIES ARE SO.. (I can’t find a word lmao) BUT THERE YOU GO, THERES ONE OF MY STORIES ❤

When I got my first period I was in history class and we had to give presentations that day. Luckily my partnership wasn't called to present because we ran out of time. So everyone started packing up and moving back to their seats (we moved to sit with our partners) but when I stood up I FELT IT. I stood still for like a good 10 seconds contemplating if I actually had gotten my very first period before I moved back to my seat. Then, all the students either had to stay in their class or go to the mpr for presentations about bullying. My class was one that had to go to the mpr, and instead of asking if I could go to the bathroom I waited for 40 minutes until I could go to lunch. And that whole time I was so nervous and kept thinking that I was going to bleed on my seat. (I didn't :D) When lunch started my friend and I quickly got our lunches and went to our usual spot to eat (which was across the quad). After I put my food down I went to the bathroom (AND DIDN'T GET A PAD FROM MY BACKPACK) to check if I had actually gotten my period. And I did. So I rushed back to my backpack and had to run across the quad to the bathroom with a pad scrunched up in my hand because I didn't have any pockets and my sleeves weren't baggy enough to stuff it in there.

This is a story that i like to call, the pirates of the red sea. I remember when I got my first period back when I was 12, it was the first day of summer, June 21st, it happened when my mom was doing a cook out because my family does a traditional cook out on the grill party as the start of summer with some of the neighbors that would come over and some of the kids came over as well. And sometimes we like to do themes for each party, that year we did a pirate theme, and was around the time pirates of the carribean dead man's chest came out that same year. During the night, as the adults were hitting the liquor and having a good time, I will come back to this in a bit. When me and the kids got done swimming, I had to excuse myself to use the bathroom, now keep in mind, I didn't feel any cramping or pain when this happened, but as I went to use the bathroom, doing your buisness like everyone does, I suddenly see a ton of blood. I start freaking out and not knowing what to do. The only thing I could do is hurry to get toilet paper to temporarily hold the blood till I found a solution. Then embarrassingly went upto my mom, who was getting tipsy at this point, I asked her to come meet me in the bathroom cause I needed her help and didn't know what to do. Of course she does and I told her, I just got my period. Now at this point when I said this, my mother, being the mom that she is, was so damn proud of me, how now im became a woman, the cheerleader that she was, and how she had to explain to me how periods were, could only be like how if Jack sparrow was explaining what a period was to a pre-teen girl. I say this cause of the costume she was wearing was a pirate outfit, and slurred like how Jack talks in the movie. Now I thought that was over right? Wrong. This was part of the story where i just wanted to go take a ship and sail away and never to return of the sheer embarrassment i had to be apart of. As soon as we get done in the bathroom, my mother, was so damn proud I had my period, she decided it was her proudest moment as a parent, she announced to the whole party that I just had my period. And that's where everyone just busted out laughing as they all with their rums clapped and cheered me on as I'm "conquering the red sea". Oh you bet even the kids joined in too with the laughter, except the boys, cause they were either like, EEEWWW or innocently didn't understand what my mom ment. The worst part, was she announce it, where even a boy I had a crush on, witnessed the whole thing. This was the part I wanted to duel her in a sword fight for how much embarrassment she has brought upon her little "buccaneer" to silence her. Reality though, I was so embarrassed where not even the blood i was suffering through wouldnt make up with how red i was in the face, thankfully, the cook out happened at our house, I immediately bolted to my room and hid in there for the rest of the night as i was suffering from not only pain to come, but the sheer embarrassment my mother brought me that night, where I felt like telling her was the biggest mistake of my life, being all dramatic that my life was over, or how I can't redeem myself, the 12 year old me thinking. But of course as I'm reaching 30, I look back on this and the family still has fond memories of that night and we all joke about how any woman each month, we would say, welp, guess they're sailing through the red sea.

Luckily it was the beginning of spring break so I didn't have to worry about school, but these cramps hurt SO BAD they felt like I was having CONTRACTIONS!! To end this on a lighter note, however, I told my sister the next night and she asked if I had a baby, to which I said no, how would THAT work? When I got my first period I was in 6th grade at recess (I live in a small area so the 6th grade is in the elementary school). Thankfully I knew what a period was and was able to ask my teacher if she could let me in to use the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and saw that the blood got on my white underwear. I put toilet paper in my underwear, went to lunch and then asked to see the nurse after lunch to get a pad. It was also the last day of school before winter break so I was a little upset that my first period couldn't wait another day. At first my cramps weren't really bad, but now it feels like I got ran over by a bus and stabbed 100 times a few days before I start and all throughout the week I'm on it. Midol, heating pads, and chocolate are definitely some of my best friends when it comes to my time of the moth.

I can’t imagine how scared I’d be if I didn’t understand what was happening to me 😭 I remember my mom would maybe briefly talk to us around that age but she gave us a book to learn about it more so we’d be familiar with the subject.

Gee, my first period experience was at camp. I was 13 with no supplies. I was super embarrassed and even in denile, I think. I just remember asking myself "why am I moody today?" I tried calling my mom, but couldn't even remember the phone number. I didn't bother to ask anyone either, so I just braved through it the entire two days. I felt I handled it like a champ and I even hid the fact I started my period for over a year. ....😅

My worst experiences were before I got on contraceptives… My periods were a wild ride. There was a time period when they came suuuuper rarely, like every two months or more, but they hurt like hell (I couldn’t stand up without almost crying), and not so long ago there were a few months when it came really frequently. (The last straw was when it decided to love me; I was on my period for about 2 weeks, then it left for BARELY ONE WEEK. That’s when I decided to take meds… it really did help. Now it comes regularly, and hurts only a normal amount.)

One time in school my cramps were so bad, I even asked my teacher to go to the nurse, which I had never done before, like, ever. ( I’m shy lol) “Ok lemme approve your digital hallpass” “WHAT” After like 3 minutes she finally let me go, and when I got there I wanted the pills so bad. I too share the pain of “oh we gotta ask your parents first to give you pills” But I survived :’) everybody just hang in there ❤️

Bro that's so sad and bad that they have to ask your parents for you to take painkillers. If someone's heart stopped would you need consent from their parents to perform CPR on them if you were at school? It's really depressing. In my school we don't need parents permission.

6:28 I loved this part 😂😂😂 As I woman, I know your pain, all us girls do. But for me its a little different, at first when I got my period at 11 years old, I didn't have pain at all. Then I stopped having my period normally at the age of 12, for a very long time. I went to the doctor with my mother to see what was wrong with me and why I couldn't have my period anymore, turns out my hormones were unbalanced, and that I needed to take birth-control 💊 *in order to have my period again.* Which I had to wait until I was 15 to take it, and oh my god once I took those pills and got my period, then I got huge cramp pains and over flow 😵 it was like i was being stabbed in the stomach 50 times 🔪 (but yeah i have to take birth control so i can get my period. Coz if i don't i can go for a month or an year without my period if i stop taking those pills)

My period blood will stop turning red, because it will accumulate inside me if I let months or years pass, and once I take the pill again, the blood comes out into a very ugly dark brown with a lot of heavy over flow. Other girls might think I'm lucky coz I can't have my period if I don't take my medication. Well no you're wrong, because not having my period is *not healthy* for me or any women. That is why some of us women who have that problem take birth control or other different medications 💊 recommended by our Doctors

I relate a lot to this, but the massive difference is that I actually get nauseous and vomit during my menstrual cramps. I feel like it will happen at my school, or more accuratly, my PE class with up to 40 people. The reason why I said during PE is because it is my last period and my menstrual cramps usually happen at that time.

I felt like I was dying during my classes 😭 it was so painful. I never knew that taking Advil would help ease the pain which I highly recommend it. a member of my family has some kind of condition where the bleeding never stops like it quite literally goes on till she’s dead and the only way to stop is a pill every like 3 months (it literally goes past like the age of 80 when it should’ve stopped at around mid 50s)

My first period story was JUST after I turned 11 (Mother nature has the best of birthday presents) That day i'd had a huge red slurpee, and when I went to the bathroom, RED. Now my mother had never explained what a period was to me because it was a "hush" topic that was "innapropriate" to talk about of course. So I somehow convinced myself that the slurpee dyed my piss red. I went an entire TWO almost THREE days without leaking, or even talking about. At that point I got to get a little worried... was I actually bleeding? FROM DOWN THERE?! How embarrassing! (Que horrified little girl face) When I finally spoke up about it, my mother bought me some pads, explained that this happened every month for 5 days (which is BS in my case because mine are incredibly long.) did she explain why periods happen? Nope. Did she explain what periods actually were? Nope, I though you literally peed blood. She gave me a book a while later that explained it. The thing that bothered me the most is that when I was 9, one of my friends got her period, and of course, being 9 I didn't know what that was. When I asked my mom she said I'd learn when I was older (So I thought it was a naughty topic I'd learn when I was an adult.) So to all the parents, or people planning on being parents, please, for the love of god, TELL YOUR KIDS WHAT PERIODS ARE!!

I got my first period around this time last year. It was of no surprise to me; I had just turned 13 and was expecting to see it sooner or later. However, I have very irregular periods. I've bled through more times than I can count, because it's simply unpredictable (I use an app to keep track). Some months it seems relatively normal, and lasts about a week. Others last the whole month. They've also been getting really heavy as of late. The last time I got my period is my most embarrassing story. I was in class, midway through October. My period wasn't expected to come for another two weeks, and I wasn't showing many signs of getting it. I was working in my second period, where I had a substitute. Thank God for her, because the teacher I have is a man and that would have been incredibly awkward for me. I felt it come, and I got scared. I looked down, and there was blood all over my shorts. The worst part? I was wearing white. I snuck my phone into the bathroom, and quietly called my mom. I went to the nurse afterwards, but there were at least 3 boys there so I lied to her and told her I had a stomach ache. Then she called my mom, and she found out that I lied. She wasn't angry, and immediately understood the situation, but it was still embarrassing. My Mom offered to take me home, but I had a test that day, so I had to stay. But so many people already had seen me like that...

You might have a blood condition because when you have heavy menstrual periods it can mean you have this one condition or if you get like a lot of bloody noses but menstrual periods to and it’s basically where you bleed a lot.
