My Pinkerton on my oldest tree are all pretty necky here in SoCal. Will be interesting to see next season if the fruits on my two younger trees are as necky. Persistence pays...6 years!

From the skin appearance of your second Pinkerton and your 8 month estimate, it is quite certain it is not mature yet. I like them when they are on the tree for at least 15 months. And similar to Hass, Pinkerton could hang on the tree for many months after being fully mature and tasty.

Nice comparison. My Pinkerton has fruited for the first time and has about 11 fruit. It's now 7 years old. I'm in Melbourne, Australia so a similar climate to you, maybe a bit colder. I'm going to try my first fruit in early September and then each month after that I will pick another to see when they start tasting good. I have heard you can pick Pinkertons now but the taste just isn't there. So it's all a bit of an experiment at first. Mine are very necky.

Hi. Thanks you very much for sharing! After my first taste test i did learn that i should also leave these on the tree till Sept. Our climates are very similar our winters perhaps a little more mild. Congrats on your first Pinkertons!!

Hello mate I live in the north of Spain and in my area I have observed a few avocado trees planted with seeds, which are not related to each other, that produce fruit with that elongated neck shape. I wonder if that shape has its origins in Mexican genetics? Some of them are very interesting because they have unique hybrid genetics. They have good flavor. some produce very yellow and very green flesh, and even when ripe it turns black and is incredibly productive, it also has fruit throughout the year. I have seen so many qualities that I think it would be a good idea to market it :) greetings, good job
