I went bikepacking for the first time! This has been a highly requested video, and here it finally is! Cannondale sent me an electric bike to try, so I loaded up my backpacking gear and rode 90 miles over three days on the Olympic Discovery Trail here in Washington for my first ever bikepacking trip! From camping at an alpaca farm outside Port Angeles to riding along the coast of beautiful Lake Crescent, my first bikepacking trip was some of the most fun I've ever had, and I'm thrilled to share this video of the adventure with you!
Just like my last video trying bike commuting, this video is presented by Cannondale who have been so wonderful in letting me try two of their top tier e-bikes. Thank you Cannondale! Y'all rock!

People should know they cut out the part where they had to put the bikes on a bus or van to get from the end of Discovery Bay (mud flats in the video) to 4 corners to continue the ride into Port Townsend. If she thought riding on that huge, wide shoulder was scary, she definitely didn't ride on the road for the section with no trail yet. Lots of volunteers are working on it and have been for many years. It has to go over very high, steep hills somehow.

I've cycle toured for years, rode most of Vietnam, Hanoi to Ho Chi Min City (Saigon), Melbourne to Sydney. First half of the Great Ocean Road. Tasmania's East Coast (a couple of times) I've also commuted all my life and owned more bikes than cars. Used to be a 100km (60 miles) a day on pretty much any terrain, so long as it was a msde road. (Single track's "a bit" harder, hey.) It makes my heart sing when others discover cycle touring. eBike or not, the open road on a bike is freaking golden. And that moment when camp is setup and your nomming dinner, watching the sun going down. Life can't get any better. ❤❤❤

I notice that you failed to cover or mention biking up the east side of Discovery Bay. Those roughly 6 miles is the single most dangerous section of the entire ODT. Some people ride it while other use the bus to get around it. It can be dealt with, but I think it's only fair to warn people about it. Other than that, the video was great. How could an Amanda video not be cheerful and realistic? It's also a great intro to the ODT for those that haven't done it.

Please make a mention that there is no safe way to cycle from Discovery Bay ~(24:27) to Four Corners ~(24:35)! This section is so dangerous that the ODT website specifically recommends bypassing this on a bus or via a very long 19 mile detour on state highways. Since the video makes this section appear continuous, I'm afraid people may watch this video and attempt to ride through it thinking the trail is actually continuous.

@@swerne01 The bus doesn't run at all on Sundays and only twice a day on Saturdays -- once at 7:35am and once at 5:20pm. And it only takes three or four bikes max, so you need to pray it's not full. I'm loving the bike content! I have a new bike trail to check out. Also, I don't care if someone is on an ebike, you're still having the same experience riding a bike and being outdoors.

Miranda, I love your adventures, every time I see a new video it's a good day! Thanks for not only the entertainment but the information and your feedback, it's quite helpful to those of us who may be considering something similar. Kudo's to your crew too! Also how did you survive getting mauled for apples by the alpacas? LOL It looked like you were going to be swarmed but then they cut scenes haha Keep up the great work!

More biking please! I am 59 and bought my first E bike last Spring. I had the BEST Summer of my life! I live near Buffalo NY so no biking for me right now but I am counting the days for Spring to show up! My favorite place to ride is in our 68 thousand acre "Allegany State Park".

Omg I love bikepacking and I love that it's being shown on the channel! ❤️❤️ it was so sweet because I know the elation she expressed at the beauty of the nature. I've felt the intense joy that comes from exploring outside while exercising. I also understand the roller coaster of emotions with also being outside your comfort zone physically and by situation (like having the trail unexpectedly closed and rerouting, or having to bike on a narrow shoulder). I'm glad no one filmed me in those moments 😅 but anyway, it's wonderful she is sharing that with so many people 💞

I absolutely ... LOVE this video! I think it is the BEST one I have seen from you to date! I MUST give this a try (except I think I will have to use a hammock instead of a tent). Thank you for the video and especially for showing the world how much FUN a person can have being in nature. As a 63 year old an Ebike means I WILL ride vs a standard bike (BTW - I commuted 10 miles a day for 25 years before retiring and getting an Ebike). Would LOVE to see more bike packing videos!!
