Backwoods jerky seasoning is my favorite. I grind the deer meat no suit and use the jerky cannon and dehydrated. Simple and consistent.

Take the deer front shoulder and grill it on medium heat to put a good sear on it. A little char is good. Take off the grill and into a crock pot. Bone in. Cut at the joint to help it fit. Pour in a bottle of sweet BBQ sauce. Let cook until meat falls off bones. Shred meat and serve on a toasted bun or roll. Add some vinegar slaw on top. The benefit is you don't have to cut all the silver skin away. Zero waste. Package leftovers for your trip to elk camp. Good luck.

Crazy coincidence I bought a Christensen MPR in 6.5 PRC last year to hunt at my ranch in Texas. Also shot my first deer with a bow on public land in the Florida Panhandle near Panama City. Was not an easy task on public here but he was a nice 8 in the 120’s. About to ramp up the season here myself and start bowhunting hard, congrats on the nice buck!
