I love this era of Chevies - long and low! If I ever have the money to afford it, I'm getting of these, but with a straight six and a powerglide. For the wheels on this Impala - go for the stamped steel, either red to match the interior, or black.

Nothing lifts the spirit quite like Mortske Monday and especially Duff Dog doing Zoomies in the snow! Also enjoying the Professor Mortske minute detailing history of elements contained in the episode. I would paint the wheels of Sixtyfo the body color and put on period correct full wheel hubcaps and one inch whitewalls. The body of the wagon deserves the spotlight. I tried asking my mechanic about replacing the bushings in my ’77 Buick LeSabre control arms, and he just shook his head and said, no…you’re getting new ones. Now I know why. Nice to see a good picture of Duff in the thumbnail…Love the Duff!

Anyways awesome auction score mortske sir 64 Chevy Impala wagon, and the reason I mentioned the 65-68 Buick wagon hinged rear floor panel setups is its probably going to be fairly easier to find a Buick sport wagon in the boneyard for the hinges and maybe the floor panel than it would be to find a 63-67 Impala wagon in the junkyard?!

When I added hydroboost to my Scout II I struggled getting the rod length correct for the master cylinder. These rods are the non adjustable type and you simply cut/grind to fit. But on the ole Amazonia I found "Brake Booster Adjustment Tool " which will basically measures the rod protrusion and the master cylinder depth to get you where you need to be. IIRC you leave about 1/8" inch gap to prevent brake drag when everything is up to temp. Worked like a champ!

Hey Mortske, just a small tech tip of the day, try turning your bearings with the large side down in the greaser. Makes it a little easier to put the grease in. With that machine it may not make any difference, but the old hand push type it does. Those control arm bushings are a pain! I might have been able to give a few tips, but other than the tool, they are rough, and I never had the tool. Not even the dealerships I worked in had the tool. Enjoyed watching your shenanigans as always.

That bearing greaser is the coolest damn thing I've seen in a long time. It's so simple and it works really good... I spent quite a bit of time in 64 Chevys when I was younger. When I was 13 (1974) my dad and mom had a 64 Chevy Impala SS that had really low miles and it was like new. It was red on red and I remember dad telling me it had a 300/327. It was an automatic with the console. When I was 16 they bought another 64 SS Impala but this one was an odd ball. This one too had low miles and they bought it from the original owner that special ordered it. It was white with a silver blue painted top and it had white interior. This one had a 6 cylinder and a 3 on the tree but it still had buckets and a factory console. Those cars had so many cool details. 64's were my dad's favorites but I really like the 63's ... I wish I would have kept my first car. It was a 69 Chevelle SS396. Factory 4 speed with a 4.11 posi 12 bolt. I bought it when I was 15 (1976)

First I started thinking...this must be a Puddin thing..., then when you gave us the back story and history of the wagon, it must be a Mortske thing, moreover, having been born in the 50's, 55 and 57's are my all time favorites, after seeing this video, old Chevy wagons are winning me over. I will be looking forward to you two getting back together this summer. Nice upgrades and decent shape for a 60 year old car. Side note: I would love to see Sparks Motors or Deboss Garage end up with the Checkered Aerobus. I can see it as a giant monster limo or it sitting on tank tracks.
