I like the muddy base. The snow matches the miniatures but is really specific toward playing on a winter-theamed table with other winter models

Thanks for the video! As a new player, these army list overviews help a lot. I think the snow bases fit the army and paint scheme the best. They do however look quite blown out on camera, if that is something you care about.

The Marder III you have is built on a Pz 38(T). It is the earlier Marder III and has a captured soviet 76mm PaK36(r) gun. The later Marder III H has the German PaK 40 gun. Though they did throw PaK40 guns on early Marder III when they ran out of captured russian guns. The Marder I is built on a Blindé 37L French vehicle. The Marder II is on a Pz II vehicle.

I know this video has been out a while, but I finally got around to watching it. I dunno about the 6-man Regulars with double LMGs. As soon as you take casualties, you start stacking those negative To-Hit modifiers. If you lose two men, one of your LMGs is now missing their Assistant, so assuming you have a Pin, they're gonna be hitting on 6s standing still and 7s moving. I feel like bringing them in at 8-men works a little better. I'm still testing it out with my French, and 5-man Veteran squads with a single LMG to act as backline support.
@bazza1carter2 ай бұрын
The six man double LMG squad lingers on... now cheaper, yet with the same dilemma! Take a casualty fine, take 2 and suddenly you have to make a choice lose a loader or have -1 on you morale. Small blobs of green troops die just as easy in v3, and are easier to pin With regard to the mortars - A PC sphere of command is 6" so good luck with finding a way of making that happen, keeping them hidden, and avoiding splash damage.

I think brown muddy bases with some snow would look great. Fits times when it’s cold, but not deep snow (early late winter). A well churned battle field look as well.

Can highly recommend the Wargames Atlantic Miniatures. I've got a bunch of them for my Horus Heresy Militia (by a bunch i mean like 200 dudes because - well, militia needs the bodies).

Easy answer with Hetzers. Hetzer 1 was French hull. Hetzer 2 was Panzer 2 hull. Hetzer 3 was Panzer 38t hull.
@bazza1carter2 ай бұрын
Not sure where you got this from however the Jagdpanzer 38(t) or Hetzer was based on the Pz38(t) a Czechoslovak tank that was much used by the Germans in the early war as they captured the factory during the invasion in '39. The (t) was to denote it's origin - Czech, the same way the (f) denoted French tanks in German service like the Flammpanzer B2(f)

The Marder was based on a Panzer II chassis not the Panzer T38. Even when the design had a lot of shortcomings it was basically a recycling program to spare ressources which gave hundreds of obsolete but working Panzer II a new purpose

@@josephpagoria6933as a German M.A. of History i can admit that the "Marder Family" of the Wehrmacht was no coherent vehicle design but a whole range of improvised Tank destroyers with several technical blueprints. Marder I was mostly built on top of french Tanks . Marder II on Panzer II chassis. And Marder III on Czech T38. But you can find also historical sources for exemptions in several factories. Like in the ongoing Russian War of aggresion against Ukraine there was also a lot of Improvisation in ww2

Muddy bases have always been superior imo. Most villages in WW2 were still dirt roads and places like Stalingrad also turned to a muddy mess. It’s far more versatile I think vs going pure snow.

I am newish to BA and would like to see the lists attached to the description (not in a lot of detai) as I am hard of hearing and an American to boot so sometimes I miss subtleties in accents. Speak in Texan sometimes and I will catch it perfectly. 😀 My focus will be on North Africa and playing narrative campaigns there but I do have a late war FJ company and some Brits painted for Europe.

Based on uniform issue color- it was much darker in color in all likelihood. Some paras in N Africa (Ramcke brig) had blues that were sun drenched and blanched. But they wouldn't be wearing that gear in the ardennes 44...

I think the bases look good, but I don't like the combination of the two of them at once. Just sort of visually confusing imo. I lean towards the muddy base, the snow base from a bit further away makes things feel a little washed out imo.
