How can the TO's help with the sweaty play? adding a must share/discuss list pre game?

Any coming across this. On the CP datasets there's no data for scout sentinel, just armoured. Are you forced to play armoured when playing CP games or can it be played as a scout too? Same as the artillery, can you run 2 bombasts or do they need to be different as on the datasheet?

Casual player here, i left 40k at the start of 9th but ive recently dusted off my models to play one page rules which is more up my street

What I'm tired of the recent 40k is how sort of dumbed down it's got. Two examples for me is tank armour having different toughness so flanking made sense. And initiative like in my mind space marines should always fight first in melee Vs guardsman I miss the flavour too for example in 8th if I remember rightly you used to have specific rules for armies depending on their lore such as the crimson fists getting plus one to hit against orks

So sad that the community is constantly whining about stuff like this. No wonder the game has a reputation for being played by manbabies.

How do you guys get around the issue if nobody wants to play a side or something? Like 40K larps it as “well there is only war and maybe those enemy space marines are heretics” but how does bolt action do the US vs US or Germany vs Germany?

Catering the ENTIRE game to the Competitive players has utterly ruined 40k for the rest of us. It's why most of my group stopped and we mostly just do Uber casual killteam and we're even moving to necromunda

My aim ever since I heard you first mentioned it on a previous video has been a Mechanized Guard army but a bit lighter and leaning towards more infantry with currently having only one Chimera and my intent to have at least three Scout Sentinels ready for my first actual game down the line. Chimeras, Sentinels and a x10 squad of Catachan proxies push an objective with their high movement while my 20 man blob of Cadian Shock Troopers, Command Squad, Castellan and Bullgryns pushing up behind them. Edit: Also, from what I have that forgot to write was two Bombast Field Guns and my yet undecided loadouts for my Heavy Weapons Teams.

Alternating activations, the absence of gotcha stratagem combos, and the relative lack of re-rolls all make Bolt Action a far more compelling game to play competitively than 40K imo.

Tiki Two Cents - Bolt Action Tournaments are great for meeting new groups/people, fully testing a new army you have built, and getting alot of games in, in a short time, if you have a busy life. If you want a big narrative and/or laidback game with lots of chit chat breaks and no stress I'd recommend casual meet ups. Both are great, Bolt Action really shines in both.

I understand your point but also not being called sweaty for not spellling out every rule in my army for my opponent is also a thing. I'd be doing their homework and I don't have the time.

Scrolling the store, I found CG-4A Gliders and Infantry wearing leggings. I think I'll be looking into this for an early war Airborne unit...Thankfully my WH40K army is put together!

I use to play 40k, but I switched to Middle Earth as I find it to be a better game for me, and the price to entry is half of that of 40k (Assuming you are playing with 1 of the battlehost boxes). I got tired of 40k players telling me “oh rule of cool” but then also telling me “oh why are you playing that, the unit is terrible, you should’ve got this instead”

Age of Sigmar first edition was unplayable so some of the toxicity was expected just in light of that even disregarding the rest of the problems.

The Guard sub reddit is filled with people who can't help themselves but jump at the first chanse to tell anyone or anybody that their army is not up to the current meta or meta list. Saw a post just a week ago where a guy just posted a picture of his army saying "Guys i finally got up to 2000p after 2 years of collecting guard :) ", and half of the response were people telling him that is list wasn't good at all. Like wtf man, people like that are the worst people. Like who the fuck got enough time or money to have 3 or 6 och every box just to be able to assemble or even want to assemble a meta list.

If competitive players weren't colossal jackasses who consistently cheat, and bully new players then there wouldn't be this "toxic casual". I have met one may e two competitive players out of a hundred that were half decent people the rust are the toxic grime of table top gaming communities. Toxic Casuals aren't going to go away by you complaining about them or by you coming up with terms for them. It will only change when the Toxic Competitive Players learn some social skills or how not be a win at all costs jackass in every gaming space.

competitive players were complained about long before I quit and I stopped playing before you youngsters picked up your first model. This isn't anything new in the last 3-6 months. Its been going on for literally decades.

4-5 ed is the best edition to play casualy. Highly recomend

I've been playing 40k all my life. There are 2 types of players. Competitive and Narrative (i wouldn't call them casual but casual games exist) To me, 40k is a horrible game to be competitive in. You can definitely play it competitively but i think there are other Wargames that are better options to play competitively. GW just makes horrible competitive games although they try. They make the best narrative games. My only grip with competitive 40k players is they will bring a competitive list when they promise a casual game. It's like they cant help it. To fix this, i propose making it normal to divide the competitive games vs casual. Play competitive games at 2000 points. Play casual games at 1500 points. This may seem like a weird way to do it but most competitive lists are written at 2000. Since that's most tournaments. So when you throw off the points, it forces competitive players to write their own list instead of finding one online. Also, throw random scenarios in casual games such as volcano terrain that blows up if you roll a 1, bad weather effects or night fighting. It keeps the game fun and i think forces competitive players to not take casual games so seriously. I use to play competitive 40k but as i got older, i think narrative games fit my current life better. I either play 1000 points or 10,000-50,000 plus games. Theres no in between for me, i just want to relax and have fun.

The problem I find as a Competitive player is, we don't care if you like to play in a narritive or casual way, but fuck me do casual players judge you for trying to be Competitive.

Bring out more forms of long term play. Support crusades more and narrative over competitive. Release actually cool looking terrain whether perfectly or partially balanced.

When you think on it the majority of players would be non competitive who just play at home with friends and stuff i dont know anyone who is into the competitve side of things,i like using 3d print proxys and other rule sets like planet 28 and acolyte for kill team as i cant be arsed learning new rules every edition and keeping up with the nerfs and buffs and the meta,it just doesnt seem like fun tbh.

If your terrain looks bad, that's your fault. Complaining about the terrain seems like just whining from the terminally unimaginative. I personally gave up on 40k after 10th because it's awful and started playing horus heresy, which is far more narrative focused with far better and fun games.
