Touche' is definitely more outgoing at the moment... but something about Leftie touches my heart. I know from my Quaker 20 years ago how much personality these little dragons can have once comfortable. 2 little pickle buddies! My grandma’s neighbor had a green cheeked conure for about 4-5 years.her/his name was Pickle.he loved free flying in his huge Pennsylvanian back yard.he was the nicest bird and loved his blueberries.One day while he was perching on his perch a hawk swooped down from nowhere and took our neighborhood gem.R.I.P Pickle,we will always remember you.

Oh my goodness Touchè is such a little character! It is going to be so exciting to watch your step-by-step breakthroughs with Lefty. I always appreciate watching you interact with a new bird and you allowing the bird to say "no thank you" to step-ups and the like. It is very important that you lead by example in this and allow others to watch exactly how you would handle the situation. Plus, we get to see how relaxed both birds are in their new environment without needing to flutter, fly, or bite. Great first day and thank you for allowing us to watch.

Thanks for the tip about spraying upwards and letting water fall down on the bird. It really helps my parrotlet to enjoy the spray bottle a lot more. She no longer freaks out when she sees the bottle in my hand.

Gotta say pretty surprised by how they reacted so positively right out of the cage, especially for birds with such heavy pasts. No aggressive body language. It really shows how much they needed good human interaction and calm space outside the cage.

I think day 1 dictates a lot for that first impression. I think it would have gone very differently if I'd moved them straight into cages and let them hang in the house and then approached later.

Oh my gosh, they're both just so adorable! Touche is such a cute little chatterbox, and Lefty is adorably.... round. lol. I hope Lefty learns to speak from Touche... Ringnecks have my favorite parrot voices, and Quakers are probably second. So great to see they've already gotten comfortable enough for your shoulders, and with each other too. Exaggerated prediction: Week 2, the fear issues are fixed, and it's just another month of flight training for both of them after that xD

Thanks for sharing your first day! Other than you being *way* more efficient at housework than me, your daily routine with the birds was so similar to my life with a Ringneck and a very clingy Pineapple Conure. Always someone's beak in the recipe, shoulders and hair laden with feathers and always sweet coos of "I love you" or happy bird purrs. It's the best way to get the chores done.

Lefty reminds me of the wild (Australian) magpies here. Inquisitive but wary. With wild animals though i don't tend to encourage any more than eating insects I put out for them occasionally so we can maintain our no swooping peacefulness. It's nice that I can go around the property and the wild magpies don't feel the need to run, we just give eachother respectful distance.

Such adorable birds!! Oh that Ringneck voice. :) You may find the Quaker does what you want for a little bit of fruit. Mine would just go completely nuts for a little fruit. It was a big treat. He liked to make a big mess with the fruit too, so not sure if it was fun for him to rip apart and forage. I know you'll do great Jamie!!

My ringneck is the opposite as Touché . He’s more like lefty. Wants nothing to really do with me and hardly ever makes noise. I’ve had him for 4 months now, no real change. It’s funny too because my ringneck is obsessed with my nails and wants them OFF 😂

Everytime touchè would talk my boy would say "hey baby what are you doing" or "I love you" Touchè was such an outgoing little guy and left is just too adorable My boy lost his bestfriend 2 years ago and I got a rescue about 6 months ago and they have become good friends my IRN taught the rescue to talk so back and fourth they're saying "I love you"
