My First Drag Race!!!! - Street Racing on Woodward Avenue

IT'S SHOW TIME!! We drove 20 hours to Pontiac, Michigan to go drag racing in our Hellcat swapped Dodge Lancer GT for the very first time!! This has been such a wild few weeks diving head first into drag racing, and to be racing at Roadkill Nights, on the STREETS of Woodward, as my FIRST ever drag race is pretty surreal. Shout out and congrats to all the other competitors that made it to the big show! Everyone put their hearts and souls into these machines, and it shows. And thank you to all of our partners that made this insane build possible. To be a part of this challenge with ‪@Dodge‬ was an absolute honor, and I can't wait to see where this build goes!!

Get a auto in it until u get the hang of drag racing a little more it will probably get faster and work better with a auto Ik the manual is sick but I drag race a lot with my car and i got a auto in it and it’s in x275 it’s moving fast with the auto

@@ColleteDavis I have found that the John Doc channel has some amazing stuff on Drag Builds and one thing he had these days is power glide and even an air shifter in one car, He tends to race small tyre and he has major tips from TKM and Mat who explains so much on suspension separation and other factors.

You guys did great. The car looks awesome and should run like a beast when you get it dialed in. I’d probably change it to an auto if you’re gonna get serious, even tho the stick is a blast. I wanted to drive up to your place and talk you out of that clutch but I knew the videos were behind. It can be a great clutch but needs time to dial in and get used to. If you had a few more weeks. It’s a bit aggravating that they sold it to you if they knew the whole story. They should’ve at least sent someone to help expedite the dialing in process. Oh well, don’t park this beast, there’s plenty if drag racing in Orlando or over with Cletus Punta Gorda so let’s see it out there.

@@ColleteDavis Sure, the issue with the clutch was certainly a significant failure. Are You planning to continue within drag racing development ? This custom built Dodge Lancer GT has so much great potential use as the the man You bought it from, Bill. You needed some more information about the 'slipper clutch', so not to damage the clutch - Alex with their tuner learned more in practice with it during their dyometer session - then properly prepared including through during testing before the event -as You may have seen in her videos and Tom Bailey's too. They [Dennis & Alex] would certainly excellent people to develop more knowledge, expertise along more with Kevin Smith. Certainly You need more details, information, knowledge about the 'slipper clutch' from its developer. Am hoping to see more of, with, within Your drag racing development, if You choose to do this. Collete need more specifics about the 'slipper clutch' device, so not to damage it. Alex and Dennis Taylor got that specific information, knowledge, instructions from the developer they used - learned more during the dynometer session, along with tuner, that lacked experience with it - thus resulting in damage to the clutch -> then Alex followed, the proper use, instructions during her development, practice, especially the test session two days prior to the event -> perfection

@@stern12akachris32 Yeah that was the rules for Roadkill Nights. Dodge gave all of them the 807 hp supercharged engine and wiring harness and ECU. They were also given HP tuners to tune the stock ECU. They were also given the Manual transmission and $10000 dollars to go towards their build. So yes now that it is over they can do what they want. But Collette did say She is keeping it stick shift and fitting a G Force transmission.

super first runs! Maybe look into that suspension a little more. You looked to be fighting the car down the track/ Cleeter and KSR had a GREAT series on how they tuned the El cameo system to go down the track straight This Thing will be a MONSTER in no time!

Agree with the others, keep the car and test and get it right! A new Red Eye Challenger weighs over 4000 lbs and runs low tens and high nines in the 1/4 from the factory. Your car weighs about 2800 lbs and has more HP, so theoretically your car should run in the eight-second bracket somewhere. Hope to see the next installment soon.

Okay I've been thinking cause we had a mustang with a similar setup except for the supercharger you put on we had 2 turbo's but if you maybe can tweek with the 1st to 3rd ratio and take off in 2nd you might have a better chance running an 8s on a 1/4 mile and maybe prevent the clutch from slipping cause even before the event i could hear that the clutch isn't happy even with the added weight on the fly wheel. i wish i could be there to help you guys but you are far I'm in South Africa so it's thousands of miles away. But it's a Rad build i would love to see more updates on this so that you can make the V8 community proud and happy!

The slipper clutch is awesome, but it needs a lot of setting up. Oh well, it was great anyway and you did a great job. Please do more drag racing in the future, I think you will really enjoy it.

Is it just me or was this vid series frustrating to watch. Collete has been asking for the clutch issue to be resolved since she first drove the car. They finally give her a new clutch in the 11th hour and it still wasn't right. Hell, the Barbie car could run circles around this thing in second gear the way it was running. Watching the video, it sounded like the clutch was slipping under full throttle and the rev limiter was cutting off the ignition. Hats off to her for being such a good sport about it.

If you have time and it's not to complicated I would replace the stock ecu with the holley dominator like you said you would before they changed the rules on you. I think that would've helped out a ton. But I'm a backseat dragster so I know nothing lol

Lower the gear ratio in the rear or and or depending what’s in the trans get a different ratio trans and a new clutch and this thing will be a beast. But I recommend now that you have time talk to actually people that use this equipment

Weight makes the clutch grab harder if anything it needed way more look at cleetus he went through the same issues when he first made the switch finally called someone that knew what they were doing a nearly doubled the weight on the clutch and made a PB pass not long after lol
