This was the first episode I ever saw because my roommate was watching it. He was laughing his ass off at everything because they were all genderbent, and I hadn't seen the original characters at all. Everything seemed normal to me. Some background: Natasha Allegri, a former Adventure time fan artist (who later went to make Bee and Puppycat) came up with the concept of the genderbent AU, someone saw her art and made this episode. After this she joins the AT team and is put in charge of the whole F&C stuff, going on to make some comics before focusing on her own cartoon and returning for the F&C spin off, also known as season 12. She also made really pretty bubbleline fanart that also gets referenced in later seasons.

Ok. One thing I just realized that made the fanfic reveal a lot funnier is that Fiona is 13, and yet Ice King wrote her so that she loves him. But, as we know from the season 2 finale, he isn't like that at all so I just like to think he wasn't even thinking about that when he wrote it and he just did it by accident. Also, on a more serious note, I feel like this episode even further shows how much he confuses love with companionship in general, with him writing Fiona and Cake to be in love with him, even though we know that Ice King considers Finn and Jake friends.

This episode was my first introduction to Adventure Time... was watching it at my grandparent's house... with my grandparents... we were all so confused. They thought I knew wtf was happening and was into this, and I only wanted to watch it because I recognized it as something my cousins watched before.
