My first electric had tiny frets and...Flatwood strings! Impossible to play or bend or do much of anything on that log. It was a 1974 Aria copy of a Mosrite Ventures model, yep, like a Nirvana guitar. Wish I still had it.

As it happens, I was just playing along with you on my Vantage Avenger, which was MY first guitar! I finally got a router and made a new pickguard, and now it's beautiful again and sounds amazing. My silly modifications from my youth were having a Kahler installed with a DiMarzio Super Distortion. One pickup, one volume knob.. Nice to know someone else had a similar formative period with the Avenger!

There is literally nothing better than to still have your very first guitar you've ever played. That's a classic guitar story. When I decided to learn to play because I saw a friend playing, he taught me Smoke on the Water and 30 seconds later I was a guitar player. The second riff I learned was Come As You Are. The third riff was Iron Man. It doesn't get any more cliche than that lol. I still have my first, a Fender Squire Strat. It was also a horrible guitar to play for beginners. The frets stick out of the neck and cut your hands, the action feels like you are playing rubber bands instead of strings. But hey, it got me started and I still love the thing.

I have a Walnut-Bodied '84...VERY RARE, these days (meaning NO Body Refinish needed on this one; but it will get bigger frets and a Floyd "Rail-Tail)! Hey, you're ALREADY $500+ to "the good" for adding your own logo (That's what KIESEL charges for "Logo-Delete" on THEIR builds!).
