Hiya mate. As a motorbikerist of nearly 50 years who has camped and toured all over the UK and Europe, I had to smile that you had the most important piece of gear, apart from your tent, that is your sleeping bag just fastend on your front rack without any protection. Just a tip, wrap it in a bin bag next time, and also practise putting your tent up in the garden, just so it doesn't take over half an hour to erect, you were seriously wasting beer/chippy time. 🤣. Just one more thing, take a look at 'dry bags' for stashing your gear on the scoot. Oh yeah, a really entertaining vlog. 👍🏍.

Thank you Keith I appreciate the tips. My mate dave told me similar, he's a rally veteran too 🤣 the sleeping bag was In its storage bag so it did have at least a little protection , although we were very lucky with the weather. My idea of camping is anyplace you can’t get room service. Guess my tastes outrun my wallet. Never really owned a scooter, but always liked them. Motorcycles are more usable in a country like Australia with the distances we have. And I’ve had plenty of motorcycles. When I was young we spent some great times riding an old Vespa 150 around the orchards at my cousins place. In the ‘80’s we used to knock off work Easter Friday night and ride 900 km to Bathurst NSW for the Mt Panorama bike races, on my Ducati 900. Even saw Mike Hailwood ride there on a Yamaha TZ 700. Became 5th but it was all just a practice run for his return to IoM on the Ducati.

I've watched several of your videos and really enjoyed them. My children have grown up which gives me more time to indulge in my interests. I have a Vespa px125 and i meant to take it over from Dublin to visit a friend in Lichfield earlier this month ( about 150 miles ). My mechanic advised me that it wouldn't make it though as it's burning oil which means the engine seals have been compromised. I'm seriously considering buying an RA - probably a 300 and doing it next year. You've inspired me!

CAPTAIN COOK'S HOME TOWN WAS MARTON MIDDLESBOROUGH JUST OVER FROM ME,HIS SHIP WAS BIRTHED IN WHITBY .
@colinnuttall95792 жыл бұрын
@@andrewsmith1390 Ah Andrew, you’re a Scholar ! Thank you, I will add that to my ‘Pub Trivia Night’ knowledge, which is poor I admit. If you have any interest in Cook, Some years back I got hold of a book on Captain James Cook. If memory serves, it was two or three volumes by an Australian..if you’re interested at all I’ll find the name of it. This thing was incredible in its detail, a definitive account of the voyage. It made you feel like you were on the voyage with him and told how he got the command, how he then had the Endeavour ‘double bottomed’ and basically every rivet in the ship. I learned why Oscar Wilde has to unpick rope in his prison cell for two years, and so much more. The reason for my interest was I’d just done a sailing trip of my own. We (three of us) sailed up the Queensland coast’s inner reef and oddly enough followed much of Cooks journey up there. I was writing a book of my own adventure and was interested in the overlap. We sailed a 15m yacht from Bundaberg QLD to Greece, via Cape York Peninsula (top end Qld) Darwin, Indian Ocean to Christmas Island, Cocos Islands, Seychelles, up the East Coast of Africa and into The Red Sea. Stopped at Aden in Yemen, then Sudan, Egypt and Greece. There was a great tale in The Cook book (sorry) about one of the strangest incidents in Naval History.. Just where e sailed down the Burnett River to turn left (North) into The Pacific, almost 200 years before, The Endeavour had been almost exactly there. One morning one of the ratings awoke to discover both his ears missing (I’ve been that pissed). A full investigation was held, and one man was suspected of doing the deed, but it couldn’t be proved. Consequently no punishment could be given, but I gather the man suspected got a good talking to. Hope you weren’t bored to death by that Andrew. But it was a great adventure. By the way, I’ve been in Cooks Cottage in Melbourne, they brought it here brick by brick from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire. Apparently it was his fathers old house. Didn’t see an old Triumph or Norton in the shed though. Cheers, Col

Skull and crossbones on a headstone doesn't mean pirates.
@RoyalAlloyRider2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but they are commonly known as the pirates graves ! So what do the skull n crossbones signify ?
@lafingas5552 жыл бұрын
They didn't bury pirates bud. The skull and crossbones meant various different things.

Sad thing is it was all about cheap transport and adventures when you were young Now it's all about overcharging eachother and hoarding scooters In a scene that has no new blood and realistically got 5years left in it
@RoyalAlloyRider Жыл бұрын
You could be right there Rob. All I can say is I think that RA are doing a good job of drawing in new blood of all ages, and keeping the scene alive a bit. Although some would disagree !🤣Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching 👍🛵

Scooter rallies now full of scomadi, gts & royal alloys, covered in targets, Union Jack's & ska stickers. Riders in standard parka or bomber jacket (with badges), target helmets, not actually having a clue about scooters. Blaming dodgy wrists for buying plastic. Changed so much, majority attendees not have a clue about scooters, at a scooter rally
