Glad u want to know about your culture. There’s no downside to knowing. They’re warm, hospitable, generous, kind, resilient, humble n helpful. They make the best nurses n teachers. Your relatives went out of their way to cook a feast for u. U’ll eventually understand that it’s true. I’m excited for your journey. Maybe someday u’ll forgive your dad if u haven’t. If anything, u’ll love Filipino food. I’m Chinese from there n now live in the west. I love the country. Liked b subscribed. Good luck n stay safe.👍🏼😃☮️🙏🏼

I'm half Filipino/German. Last year was my first time in the Philippines. I spent a year volunteering there and learning about my culture, meeting my family, and my parents' friends all over the country. It was an amazing time, and I will be back this year to learn more, travel, and most importantly, to visit my family! One thing that I find really amazing is that every island/region has cultural differences. They might be only small, but every place you visit will be otherwise awesome!

I’m glad you are interested in learning your Filipino side. It’s unfortunate what has happened, but you’re embracing it now and willing to learn and grasp your background. I’m also halfsie- Spanish Italian Filipino. I heard you trying to go back to the motherland in may or April, but in reality, the best time to go is actually during the holiday season for the weather is better. As a child, we would always go during our summer here in the states when it was the worst times to go but due to school summer was the only time. Be prepared of the embracement you will receive from your family for it can get overwhelming especially when they don’t see you for a long time but they are loving and caring. Wish you the best in your endeavors and good luck can’t wait to see more.

One thing i've suggest brother is if you before you inter act to older people grab the hand nicely and put in your forehead and said mano/bless po( way of respect) If you met some olders dont forget to say po or opo If ther ask you what is your name? then replied them your name and add the word po. If they ask you are you okey? If your are ok then replied them with opo ❤❤❤

Love that you're trying to reconnect and re-identify with your Filipino roots. But for corrections, Booklets fight isn't about fighting over food. It's about encouraging camaraderie between high ranking officials with ordinary soldiers. It's about dining on the same table, eating the same food and everyone plainly using their hands... in Boodle fight, one's rank and position is irrelevant. Everyone is equal.

Well said, Marielle. So to further confuse you Silas, Filipinos are basically Austronesian (purest Filipinos of this blood are the igorots) with admixture of very little Australasian (purest Filipinos of this blood are the negritos). Unlike what we learned in Social Studies when I grew up, Austronesians originated out of Taiwan spread south to the Philippines then west to Malaysia and Indonesia then as far away as Madagascar. They also spread east to Guam, Palau all the way to Hawaii and French Polynesia, Easter Island and New Zealand. Austronesians supplanted original Australasian populace of the Philippines who either withdrew to lower mountain ranges or isolated islands. It was found that Aeta (i.e., negrito or Australasian) have the highest percentage of Denisovian genes in the world anywhere from 2-4%. OK I mentioned all that bcuz if you do a 23 and me or other gene tests, you will probably get a super admix of genes. From ur appearance my guess is ur Dad had some Spanish mix in him to begin with, so you look less than 50% Pinoy (which is already a colorful mix). Pls do a gene test and a video of ur results., m sure ur results would be very interesting to put it mildly! Oh, there are so many languages, and what I call tribes but they are basically referred to as regions in the country. In the biggest island Luzon, threre are Ilocanos, Pangasinense, Kapampangan, Zambal, Ibanag, Tagalog, and Bicolano. The major nonhispanized peoples in Luzon are collectively called the Igorots who are genetically closest to our Taiwan cousins. Their culture and language are very close. In the Visayas major tribes/languages are Warays, Ilonggos, Cebuanos. Mindanao has many tribal groups among them, Manobo, Bukidnon, Mandaya and Muslim Filipino, Maranao, Maguindanaon, and Tausug (all of whom were nonhispanized). I recall in your video, your cousin mentioned that your Dad is Ilonggo. Thus my whole summation here. If you want to know more, just give me a buzz. 😊
