Its so refreshing to see someone actually listen to the characters and react and adapt during battle! So many people (like, SO MANY) Just kinda get lost during that Guard Scorpion tutorial boss because they just try to throw themselves into fighting it, without listening to any of the dialogue about the barriers, the weakness to thunder magic to overload the circuits, or realize that they have to take out the field generator to get it to turn off its barrier. But you like, glided through it like a pro. It was so satisfying! Lol.

You can choose to be a nostalgia purist unwilling to accept change, or you can have an open mind and enjoy what is probably going to be the best video game trilogy of all time. Up to you.

Saying "just have an open mind" is just a way to avoid criticism without actually having to address it. Refusing to acknowledge that something you love might not be perfect is the definition of being close-minded. Fact is that every moment that remake was faithful to the original was amazing, I'd even say it was better. And there were changes that were nevertheless still faithful to the story of the original that also greatly improved it, like wallmarket or delving into Jessies backstory. But the parts where the game didn't respect the original, with the whispers, the early inclusion of Sephiroth, the aspects of destiny, and that ending, were absolutely god awful. That's not me being close-minded, which would be the act of closing my mind off from what I'm seeing, but the result of me being open-minded and evaluating what I'm giving without fan-boy glasses.

I was skeptical but went in with an actual open mind and ended up loving everything about Remake. Good is good even if things have changed a bit. lot of JRPG fans over the past decade have become insufferably closed minded. Especially with FF as a series. every new game that has action combat I already know what most of you are going to say about it because it's the same every time. I hate when people use "just criticism" as a scapegoat to hate on things for being different as if different is automatically bad. But then again you aren't going to get what I'm saying because you don't want to. I can say it's better as a gamer to just enjoy things than to be the wannabe amateur critic. You guys never seem that happy. Quite the opposite actually. Just saying.

Glad to see so many people getting into this game and trying it out. This game was a lot of our childhoods and everyone always bugged us about why you waste so much time playing video games and whatnot. Hopefully you can see by the glorious story and cutting edge graphics how inspiring this story is. Back when this game came out in the 90's, it was on PS1 and the cutscenes were full-on animations. First of its kind at all. This game looked and sounded absolutely stellar. It was revolutionary in the gaming world and people said it was 'over-hyped' because they couldn't follow the story or something idk. Either way, this game is one of the best games to ever exist. And the remake just brings a brand new light to the already, immaculate game that is ff7. Stay ahead of the releases so people don't spoil it for you! Its a wild adventure!

One of the things I always kinda liked about the intro to FF7 (which was pretty well captured in this remake imo) is that by portraying Cloud as this aloof professional at first helps the players kinda settle into the role. The player doesn't know these people, but they did show up to "play the game", so they are READY to crush some baddies and get some rewards, and by having these charming little underdogs in Avalanche grow on Cloud it lets the player shift from the mechanical way they are interacting with the game to caring about the characters and struggles they will be fighting alongside and for in a natural way. The only character that it's really at the expense of is Cloud himself, who will have plenty of time to develop and reveal himself over the long, long game of the original...uh....3 WHOLE DISKS?! That's right the original game involved plural disc changes across a play-through on PS1 hardware! What an adventure!

Can’t believe I watched this entire video 😂 First time ever seeing your channel. Reminds me of when I would take a game to a friends house and say here play this! Seeing a smile on a friend’s face during their first play of an epically awesome game is priceless 😊 Also I played the remaster twice all the way through, the original I don’t know how many times. Yet it’s so awesome I don’t mind watching someone else play it for way longer than I was expecting. This is why I love games from the past. Storytelling, atmosphere, character development was what mattered most. These days games are incomplete, require multiple DLC purchases, and worst of all many games have boring stories with bland characters. Not this game. FF7 is a beacon of hope and stands for everything I love about games. Seeing the enjoyment of a fellow gamer confirms it. Apologies for the long comment. This game is special. It deserves the praise. Jessie, "Have fun!" Julia, "thanks!" haha she just gave you the heavy lifting. Flat out murdered the next two guards with big over the top attacks and happy about it. I can tell this was a fun playthrough. I've played the original back in the day and multiple times of Remake. And ive seen so many others start their journey into Final Fantasy with this title. I'm glad you jumped on this one. I have seen other streamers play this and I hope your playthrough is just as enjoyable as theirs.

Be sure to set the settings to max, and set the FPS cap to 90 in the settings (vsync on probably) (120 is harder to achieve and 90 is more fluid than 60. The PC port isnt great. But it runs mostly fine except a few common areas. It helps if you target the DX11 renderer instead of DX12 if you are a tinkerer you can google how to do that for this game. I think you just add "-dx11" to the launch options on steam. You will not notice a difference in graphics just better frame pacing. Just came across this channel. FF7R was an amazing game. 9 / 10 for me. Cannot WAIT till FF7R2

I strongly encourage you to play the original game after you complete this, but before rebirth. I know the graphics are dated being a PS1 game, but there are significant reasons I can't go into on why you should do that I enjoyed your first okay and really look forward to the rest of the series. I really appreciate your posting close attention to the tutorials and what's happening in the game. It makes for a much better viewing experience than if you're constantly paying attention to chat and kissing out on what's going on then are confused by the story/game mechanics/etc like many other streamers. You mentioned setting guard to let bumper. Normally left number is for shortcuts which are actually very useful. They allow instant access to up to 4 spells or commands with L1+A, B, X, Y etc. I like to put some of my most used abilities there and keep the same theme for all characters (I.e focused attacks which increase stagger meter can be on the same button for all characters etc.)

The great thing about Final Fantasy is that you can pick up any of them (with the exception of individual sequels) and not go wrong. Thats what i love about this series, the best or favorite will depend on who you ask and none of them are wrong.

Truly amazing! Not ashamed to say that even as an avid FF fan, I struggled a lot with combining the 2 parts of the combat system in an efficient way, you are getting the hang of it really quickly, really impressed! I really hope you'll enjoy the story and jump on the Rebirth hype train with all of us and I really hope you'll dive even deeper and deeper into the combat system, 'cause once you master it, it's the best there ever was (hopefully this statement won't age well after Rebirth comes out😂) and if you ever want more in depth and advanced combat tips, I really reccomend bltzz's channel, he is, quite frankly in my opinion, the GOAT at FF7R. Hello, Julia! Not sure if I've visited your channel before. The PS1 game is my favorite game of all time, so I love watching newcomers play this Remake to see their reactions and learn what they think of the characters and this story. I hope you love it all!!!! Most of the intro to this Remake is a shot-by-shot take on the intro scene to the PS1 game (graphically upscaled with modern technology, obviously). If you havent watched the PS1 game's intro on KZbin for comparison, I highly recommend doing so - it will give you an idea of how thrilled us OGers were to watch it, the first time we played Remake. I cried like a baby, but I assure you that it was tears of joy (and relief because no one was certain if the Remake would live up to our expectations). It's obvious that they took great care and consideration in making this Remake. It's not perfect, but it is an excellent game.

I am tremendously excited, caught your resident evil playthroughs, but Final Fantasy 7 is probably my favourite work of all fiction ever. I'd put other ones close there too, I love X alot, same with 8 and 9, 6 is arguably the purists choice regarding final fantasy, that's very good. Point is they're a bit magical and I'm gonna jump into part 1 now and look forward to following your journey. Very excited this is your first final fantasy, definitely a great one to start with. I love killing enemies with Cloud. He doesn't even need a jump button. He jumps on his on if the enemy is in the air if you keep attacking. 🙂

Just a tip, but the best time to use focused thrust is when the enemy stagger bar says pressured. Focused thrust will fill that bar quickly and make it easier to stagger the enemy. If you used the thrust instead of braver before the scorpion machine put its shield up that second time, it would have been staggered. It's also best to save limit breaks for when an enemy is staggered because of the damage multiplier.

The music truly is great in this game. I remember when I was younger and had it just playing while eating snacks or something while waiting to play more of it. I'm sure you have already been suggested this a bunch, but after this playthrough and if you enjoy it, I'd really recommend giving the original a try. The story is overall the same but with some slight changes here and there.

Well you absolutely crushed the combat especially for a newcomer to the series. Quick learner to a whole new level. Seen so many people that never even figured out Cloud has a block/counter gimmick. Each character has their own playstyle Tifa can actually dodge, Cloud is like the middle weight option and Barret is just a tank. Sorry if that was too backseat-y.

It feels like a lifetime ago when they announced they were remaking FF7 and I watched the teaser trailer in 2015 with my best mate who loved FF7. He passed away last year, age 32 and I know for a fact like me he would have Rebirth on preorder right now. I’m glad he got to play the remake. Games like FF7 gave my childhood so much. ❤

I wasn't sure I wanted to buy this Final Fantasy... I had my doubts, being used to FFX, with the turn-based combat system, at least here it's different, the various characters attack alone, if you have one of them selected, the that is magnificent! My concern was exactly that, having to manage multiple characters in a combat system (as happens in ffx-2), I know the story is interesting... even if I get lost in the mini-map! The fact that they mark the steps you take makes it strangely complex for me when the mini-map is open! 😂 Edit: Thanks to your gameplay I decided to buy it! 😂 😅 and make my wallet virtual with a little less money! 😂
