Airfix did something very similar in their 1:32nd scale "men" in the 70's called "Infantry Support Group" as I recall.

This is a very nice set of figures. Not cheap but no need to get after market decals and photoetch to go with it.

But I got a Miniart T-34 full interior for 67$ Aus and a new Dragon Panzer IV F1 kit for 70$ so I saved heaps there and was able to try the expensive figures.
