It's so sad to see that he has given up on making videos for the 9000 house. I put a lot of time into watching those, and now he's just stopped.

Maybe it's just a product of my personal challenges battling rainwater, but I find it immensely satisfying when to get waterflow going where it's supposed to. I stood out in the rain for about 10 minutes watching my french drain work for the first time.
@socialkruption2 ай бұрын
I really hope you grade or put some kind of drain for the water to get away from the foundation at some point. This is assuming you got a lot of water flowing in that section. Interesting idea regardless.
@HunterTN2 ай бұрын
It's just draining a covered porch, The only time this would be catching rainwater would be a storm with blowing rain.

I agree. He’s gonna want to monitor that water from his new drain. I’m sure he will. Water is a FORCE, for sure.

That drains well. Lets hope you never get a rain strong enough to have to drain away that much water at a time. LOL
@homemadehome55752 ай бұрын
That is key, some are commenting about the water going where it does, but there's maybe once or twice a year you get a rain bad enough to get hose levels of water and in that case it's soaked everywhere anyway. In short, going off the side of the porch is better than behind the porch, through the wall and into the basement.
@davecisneros52852 ай бұрын
Love this whole project you're doing. Taurus SC is great. I never met an ant problem it didn't solve with just a simple perimeter spray band. I haven't had a chance to do a trench preventative job but I wouldn't doubt it's effectiveness.

Love when ingenuity truly comes to life. Amazing work
@marek196cАй бұрын
not really ingenuity, normally man takes a self leveling concrete, pours about 1cm of it then creates 2-5% slope outwards. Even with the water from hose can be seen the water overrun gutter into the space between the wood and the concrete (4:36 just before the junction of the 2x8 which also should be insulated from the front and bottom).

What you can do next time is put your concrete in place, smooth it down, and then use a piece of PVC or length of pipe to make your water channel.

ideally you drill 1/2" holes in the soil every 12 inches around your home perimeter for that taurus 36 inches deep. i just chuck up a length of 1/2 inch rebar with one end ground to a chisel for that. if you can find some chlordane that some old farmer has in a gallon jug somewhere thats the termite gold standard. wear gloves

I’ve been watching for years. TBH these videos are getting too short. Part of the reason we liked them was you talking/discussing what you were doing and I feel like these are moving away from that type of content. Just my 2 cents.

Ditto, and I totally agree. I use to enjoy his talks afterwards even though he thought that a lot of people didn't. Although, I do understand it adds a lot of time to the project to make this content and I appreciate anything you are putting out, regardless if its less than before.

I understand, but being equally honest and not defensive. I'm having a tricky time maintaining a KZbin channel right now. I've had a snowball of tricky times over the past 3 years and doing the best I can. My hope is that after this house and the $9000 is rented that I will be able to do better but for now I'm a little out of sorts and my videos are affected. Thank you for watching and your thoughts.

@@homemadehome5575 In that regard, in my humble opinion, I'd shoot for quality over quantity. I am a contractor/home remodeler for a living and honestly, I couldn't imagine trying to do what you are doing, along with filming, all by yourself without help. Not to mention you have a family that you want to spend time with as well. You definitely have earned my respect years ago. You have nothing to prove to anyone. Take care of what is important in life. We will all be here when you have time to post.
