All white seems to draw attention to the fact that it’s an addition… but doing the trim and corner post in the matching grey will draw attention to the beautiful windows and door instead.

Because you have a distinction of white in the front porch of white above pillars as white, I think gray on the bottom boards and white trimming out the windows and corner board work. Your home is quite charming.

Definitely the grey brings it together and makes it complete. The white works as an accent color or trim and works on the windows, doors, and pillars/ posts. The grey color on the siding of the house makes it complete as a house. This is a real charmer! Love your videos!

Gray. It helps hide the fact that it is an enclosed porch (addition) and helps blend. Privacy lattice below the porch would help also.

I personally like the longer videos, the sweet spot being around 20 to 25 mins for me. At the same time, I do like seeing updates from you on the regular (weekly, I think that's what you said in a video). But ultimately, it is how well it works for you. Either way, I'll probably watch it

I think the white will look good. As to the drip gap where the flashing is designed to allow for run off, we did something similar on our deck under some windows to allow for run off. It gets clogged with leaves and debris. So regular maintenance is necessary, extra cleaning step. That's been our experience. I don't know "shine-ola" about the jobs you do. I come here for inspiration. haha! and I wanted to share that experience with our drip gap. Such a cute little house.

I'm in a similar situation you are, I've got 4 houses, 1 4plex of apartments and a storage unit business and I'm 26, definitely wanting to hold on to my first home especially for my kids. Selling it is really tempting though with real estate being how it is currently! Always like watching your videos since they inspire me to do some work myself and have better results and save a little money!

Looks great with the clapboard siding. Suggestion: change the siding around the door to match (yeah more work) Then paint all the new siding to match the house color and leave the door and around the windows white. Looks more cohesive.

Use white primer. It will tell you if grey or white is better. You'll paint it anyway so no harm.

Using the festool on the tractor forks gave me a chuckle. The front porch columns have top white/bottom gray which is throwing me off on your new siding color so I can't say. Sometimes I look at neighbors' houses to help me decide.

I agree with you, bud. Paint it white to set it off from the rest. Plus it gives continuity with the other white windows and columns along front. Too much gray will make it start looking like a prison! Give that porch a touch of freedom.

Now that you have the same profile of siding under those windows, I would paint them gray like the rest of the house, except for that last piece directly under the windows- that should be white to 'match' the apron on the other windows on that side of the house. But if you paint it white, still okay- just looks like what it is, a previous porch enclosed. Nice work!

I think white gives it a nice contrast. It makes the side not to much of a blank wall. I think it does keep the original look of the house alive. When painted gray i think it will just disappear into the greyness.

+1 for white. Water water water just seems like the main problem in a lot of renovation repairs. I guess this house should have had an overhang added at the gable ends when it was built.

Grey siding, white window trim.That makes it more part of the house and not look as much like an add-on. Also, extend the deck of the front porch to the corner, because the closed in corner sort of looks like it's just hanging there, with a door nobody would want to use because it would track dirt inside. That's the way I'd feel if it was my house and I had to do the cleaning up.

Paint the siding and window trim a darker grey. Can't quite tell from the video, but color coordinate with the asphalt shingles and concrete slab of the porch.

The Grey will make the house look bigger by making the eye read it as one continuous line. Remember our eyes are trained to read from right to left so breaking it in the middle makes your mind sort of like hick-up. The corner post looks better too it paint it white.. If I may suggest paint the boards gray and the battens white same reasons it will direct the eye to see the house as a whole not cut up is starts and stops. Just my opinion you do what you want of course it's your property. As far as video length any length is good I enjoy watching you build your wealth for your children. Till I see your next video be safe and hug that darling family.

I agree with you; I'd paint it white. There's a whole lot of gray on that side of the house. Just my opinion: the living room is so painfully small that I would've opened it up into the side porch and made it one large living room.

As to the new boards colour, I think the grey you have on the rest would tie it all together, connect the different surfaces. White would show every bit of stuff that may blow onto it. A nice dark blue/grey would be stunning and tone so well with the paler grey, but if you don't have any of that in stock it makes no sense to buy it specially. Good job, it looks so much smarter with the overlapping boards and makes all kinds of sense for weatherproofing. I agree with your decision to keep the house. If you don't NEED to sell any real estate you have, it makes total sense to keep it. Yes, it's more maintenance, but the income it provides will always outweigh the work. Especially as you do the majority of it yourself. And as you say, it will get more valuable over time, housing stock is always going to be needed. Rentals especially. I don't know about the American markets but prices of everything here in the UK is going through the roof. People will not be able to raise the deposit needed for house purchases. A good, well maintained rental, in seemingly lovely surroundings, looks ideal for people setting out on the housing journey, or older people downsizing as families grow and leave.

Since you lined up the clapboards with the existing ones so nicely, you can go gray. If they didn't line up and you wanted to mask that you would want to go white. But as it is, you can go either way.

I like variation, so I would like white. But as a rental property owner, I understand that you have to repaint from time to time, so economically, I'd go with the same color that you are using on the rest of the house. The renters won't care, but it will make your life easier.

I'd do more grey with white trim. Looks like you might be able to do more of the trim in white, or possibly accent (e.g., the door) with a 3rd color... maybe like a mustard yellow, dark peach, burgundy, etc.

Paint the new column white. Otherwise, the door side will be visually uneven. The new siding needs to be gray to unify that side of the house.

I don't have strong feelings either way, but my first thought was gray, with the future lattice in gray also. Re: renting vs. selling, we have four single-family rentals plus a duplex and our primary residence, all paid off long ago. Even here in anti-landlord Los Angeles, renting is the way to go, you can always sell later.
