Another perfect reason Why Mombasa buildings are painted white is because white color does not absorb any heat radiation from the sun so it keeps the room a little bit cool .

Harriet, the secret here is to hand over the amount you have in mind to the maandazi vendor (maybe 300 or 400 shillings) then walk away after telling him to distribute the maandazi and tea, otherwise you will end up spending all ur money on maandazi once the quorum starts to build up 😂

Tuk-tuks are many in Mombasa because they're flexible, they can take you to your door step and people in Mombasa especially Swahili people are lazy to walk.That heat too inhibits ppl from walking for long so they prefer them to busses and matatus.
@kevinmoks-uo1yt8 ай бұрын
Stop calling someone lazy na u dont even feed him surely or has anyone borrowed you a bob or food😅.. Each tribe has lazy and hardworking people and thats why each tribe has rich and poor people..wewe hujaenda msa ukaona watu wakipiga route 11 apo kwa bridge esp nyali bridge crossing from one destination to the other?..its same like here in nrb kuna wale wa kutembea na wale hu prefer kupanda boda or uber even at the slightest distance ever.Hakuna tribe ni special than the other in kenya,i find it so demeaning to talk ill of another tribe or community..thats backwards reasoning mentality bro esp in this modern era we living.
@calvoh97158 ай бұрын
@@kevinmoks-uo1yt so according to you hardworking people are not poor? Being lazy does not mean being poor. Mombasa most locals esp. the Swahili are very lazy, that does not mean they are poor. Being poor is relative, natives of Mombasa are not so engulfed in a rat race of life.
@kevinmoks-uo1yt8 ай бұрын
@@calvoh9715 thats according to you too,i can show u a very hardworking coastal native and i can show u a very lazy upcountry folk..lazy to an extent anategemea tu kupewa handoutz..here in nrb,or msa..thats why am telling hakuna tribe inakosa such kind of people maybe u lack exposure unaona jist one side of the region or kinda generalisation but am talking with facts i have come face to face kinda people ndio nikajua hii ni misemo tu..ni kama kusema mkamba ni mchawi,but nenda luo nyanza or western uone ile uchawi iko huko,watu wanarogana na kuuana haswa.

I can see you need a local who is very familiar with Mombasa. A lot is not covered. You started your tour at Mbaraki where we have world war heroes cemetery but your good host did not advice you. Talk of tall buildings, just there at Mbaraki and her backdrop high-end estate called Kizingo, modern Mombasa is found there with plenty of skyscrapers. You reached Mwembe Tayari but your host again failed short of letting your cover the world war heroes statues erected just opposite what he was telling you is the first modern building you are coming across (NAIVAS). From Bamburi you crossed Nyali bridge, that's Tudor Creek to the right, its unfortunate if you did not notice countless skyscrapers propping their neck to the skies! Tononoka and Ganjoni you had to take a tour of those places if tall buildings is part of what you want to cover. As for modern shopping malls Nyali should have been in your menu list. To round-up, the worst mistake is he did not showcase with you OLD TOWN. That's the heart of Mombasa history. I dare say its the birth place of Mombasa. Its where Kenya's first hotel is located, its where the first Kenya police head quarters is located, its where the Mombasa and world renown historical landmark - THE FORT JESUS - is located, actually old town is a UNESCO HERITAGE. Buildings as old as 600 years stand waiting to embrace your visit! In fact I don't know why he did not take you for one exciting ferry ride! Want more? Its also culture, you would have sampled sumptuous delicacies from street food vendors including madafus, sugarcane juices and assortment of swahili snacks blent with arab/indian flavours among others. Recreation? Mama Ngina Drive would beckon after sampling these delicacies. As for modern infrastructure, Mombasa West for now will serve the purpose. I bet you need a rematch with Mombasa Tour. You have not seen or tasted the real Mombasa vibe. Yes I agree its not possible to cover all what I have listed in a day but again I suggest you plan a rematch. Kudos to Ismael, he did what he could and thank you sister. Welcome again!

There is nothing good in that rusty town they call a city. Beauty of Mombasa is the beach resorts. That will cost you a fortune. Best beaches and resorts, in diani, watamu, wasini island. Marine parks,boat riding etc. Places to visit for free maybe old town, mama ngina drive, bamburi and nyali beach, nyali estate, likoni ferry, dongo kundu bypass and a little penny for boat rides. By the way, where are the adverts, I watch them full to earn you some money.
