I used to play at Notts tennis centre about 10-12 years ago. Brings back alot of good memories! Outdoor courts were good but the indoor ones had thick layers of dust around the edges. Don't think they had been cleaned in about a hundred years!

Great video Cam! Low level pro level tennis is brutal! The standard is so high these days it's a joke! I played a grade 3 fast 4 event at Aldershot over the weekend and the level was very high. No 1 seed had won a few British Tour events and there were even two players in there who had played qualies at ITF...I played one of them and I got humbled 😳 Keep chasing your tennis dreams Cam no matter what people say👍👊

Interestingly that guy you saw in the final I saw playing at one of the Queens qualifying rounds this year. He had ALOT of nerves and made double faults at key times so don't assume people at this level aren't fragile.

how do you get in / how do they decide who to let into the qualifying draw of an ITF futures (if you don’t need ATP points or a ranking)
@camprice99
@camprice99 5 ай бұрын
The order of acceptance is: ATP ranking World tennis tour ranking National ranking Everyone else If you are on the alternate list you can get in by 1) receiving a wildcard 2) singing in as an alternate hoping there are spaces in the draw or people who are in the qualifying don’t show up (this happens more than you think, but is still a risk)

Why is it easier to play tournaments in Turkey?

I watch people on KZbin with a lot more subs than you but their video quality is nowhere as good. Future’s tournaments are very hard to get into and I was wondering if you will play any British Tour events as many people just want to watch you play.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Yeah that’s definitely an option. I’m saving my money for futures at the moment as sometimes brit tours can be quite expensive if you need to stay in a hotel. But if I can’t get into enough futures I think I’ll have to.

I've been watching some of your videos for a while now and as a tennis player myself i really dont get why u haven´t been playing national tournaments all this time to gain some match practice and competitive rythm (and also to gain some national ranking to get in the itf´s), practicing on its own is not gonna make it. Especially if you haven´t played on the itf circuit for a few years and are not used to playing competitive matches at that level, it probably wont go well for you the first few times. If you are really into doing this kind of journey to go pro, you need to have a much better tournament planning to begin with, you can´t just be expecting every week to get into the qualis and do nothing about it. If you see that you wont get into the future´s draw, go play national tournaments and at least you gain match confidence and boost your ranking, otherwise you are just wasting ur time really. All the best and good luck for the future!

It’s great to hear that you’ve been following the journey, thank you so much. You make some great points here and from an outside perspective I can see why it is confusing why I haven’t done this so let me explain quickly. The way you outlined is the ideal tournament plan: some national tournaments followed by a block of futures and then keep rotating like that. Firstly, because as you say you get match practice and secondly, you can build your National ranking. This is the system I did for a lot of years when I was younger. The problem is that a lot of the national tournaments I will need to stay at a hotel and sometimes the cost can be similar to traveling to a futures event. With my current budget I didn’t want to waste a potential futures tournament on national tournament if that makes sense. Also, it is worth mentioning your national ranking needs to be high to be shown and make a difference on the itf entry list. And even if it is there it will be unlikely you will be in qualifying part of the acceptance list for the futures event, so you will still be on the alternate list and need to take a risk signing in (you will just be higher than someone who doesn’t have a national ranking on the list). If you are clever about where you travel and sign into you can get into futures without a National ranking (many people do this successfully). And if you are able to win a round or two in qualifying you can get a world tennis tour ranking and bypass the need for a high national ranking. The problem for me was that I hadn’t taken any calculated risks to tournaments since starting the KZbin series because 1) I wanted to make some improvements in training and I wasn’t sure if I was ready 2) I was scared I would travel somewhere and not get in So I think what I tried to get across in this video was that it was about me overcoming the fear and actually going out and doing it and testing the water. Of course if I continue to not get into any futures I will play national tournaments instead or go places that do pre qualifying. And if there is a National tournament that I can drive back and forth to I will do that as well. The down side of my plan is that I am lacking match practice in a tournament environment as you said. So, I’m trying to get as much match practice in training as I can (but I know it’s not the same). However, if I’m able to increase my budget, my tournament plan will include more national tournaments as preparation for futures. I hope that makes sense!
