Just listening to your story reminds me of the similarities of being far away from home in the Military. I know so many people I was stationed with that are no longer with us do to suicide. Some from PTSD while others just couldn't cope with returning home to an environment they ran away from. With Josh, you gave him something he could never get at home.... Unconditional Love, Friendship, and support. You never asked him to change rather you accepted him for the person he was. Most important, you gave him stability. Going back to an environment where there is no stability, support and constant chaos can make anyone insane. I hate to say this but it seems like Josh felt he lost you and what you represented to him. It's a bitter pill to swallow. Nevertheless, just know that for the brief moment in time, you gave Josh something to believe in... you gave him purpose... Most importantly you gave him love and friendship. And that make you a better person... a better human being than most....

Dam Bro, so sorry for your loss. I don't understand how someone can come into a person's life and bring so much joy, only to have them leave your life in such a tragic way. From one Virgo to another you have my deepest condolences. What I'm not understanding is you made plans to hang out and chill when u got out, all he had to do was hold on until then. You gave him something to look forward to, why couldn't you just wait. Why???. SMH. My bad, got caught up in the emotion for a second. But dam. Anyway your time is coming Tripp, just hold on a lil longer. You're gonna find the happiness you rightly deserve, and I'm speaking that in the air for you. God bless bro.

T areIPP. I have only been a subscriber for two days. I know you get this all of the time, but you are something special. I honestly believe that you came in Josh life for a reason. You gave him two gifts. True friendship. Most importantly unconditional love. Your heart changed him. He totally opened himself up to you to the deepest level of his being. You gave him things that no one in his life had ever given to him and he cherished it. That’s why he didn’t want to leave and to stay with you. He knew when he got on the outside that there was nothing there. Feel good, proud, and confident that you gave him things no one else could give him and it changed his life! That was your purpose for meeting him. In return you gained a real friendship out of it. I am so glad that we are cousins. I wish I had more like you! I think he did the Russian roulette so that he would not know when it would happen but he knew that it was going to happen. Please be encouraged! Don’t let the last thing you remember be the main focus on your mind. Remember and focus on all the special moments and time that you had with him. Love you, cousin!

Damn Tripp got me over here in my feeling DEEP 😢...but It sounds to me like Josh was dealing with his inner demons (wanting to express same sex attractions, not having anyone to rely on, etc) the things that many men, especially black men, deal with constantly. So the whole Russian roulette thing seems like he wanted to relinquish that burden of taking his own life, and give it up to chance. Very disheartening story, but thank you for sharing. RIP Josh 👼🏽

Also had a great friend commit suicide...he was divorced and then remarried. Seemingly out of nowhere I got a call from his ex-wife stating that he had committed suicide. She also asked me if I was aware that he esteemed me as his best friend - ever? OMG, I am still shocked and saddened...also talked with him as a neighbor for hours and hours and hours, had no idea he told both his wife's that he loved me as his best friend and also left me all of his assets...💰 💰 💰.

Life is tough enough. When you suffer the lost of a trusted friend now that sounds devastating. The type of love that you described for your friend is one that is not sexual, but one that is loving & warm. Today we as men lack such warm male friendships. Any type of touch from another man in our society is viewed as gay. How sad. If I were standing in your presence right now I would give you a big hug & I would just sit with you. Much love goes out to you my broken hearted brother. You have a strength about you that I lack, but I so admire that trait in you. Thank You for being so honest. I will be reflecting on what you discussed. My deepest condolences to you. Good friends are really hard to come by. I understand that from my own experiences. Love you big bro.
