Chenzo's World

Күн бұрын

I'm finally making my long awaited official entrance into the world of Mountain biking.
Rather than waiting to afford my dream bike, I opted for a budget bike so I could hit the trails as soon as possible. Getting my wheels on the trail sooner should allow me to develop some confidence on the bike so I can upgrade as my skills progress. So far the plan has working out well.
I found the Diamondback Atroz 1 to be capable of handling everything I threw at it. Which was nice, considering my bike and gear came in at less than 1K.

Mi amigo we have something in common 😂😂. My chika and I started in road bikes for some time before asking our self’s what’s in those trail head entrances. Did the same thing, got hooked and fell in love with it! Thanks for sharing mi amigo!

**WARNING** on this model. I have owned 2 of them. If you ride frequently, the need to install new chain wheels on the crankset (the toothed gears attached to the front pedals' crankset) comes up. You do not have the option to easily remove and install new sprockets (chain rings) on the crankset that comes with the bike because the chainring sprockets are INSTALLED WITH RIVETS, NOT BOLTS. You have to drill out the rivets and then try to find bolts that will work. Yes, you can replace the entire crankset with a different one to have the option of easily replaceable chain rings but then you may as well buy a higher-end MTB. Also: the front derailleur is a huge weak point. Both of my Atroz1's have suffered alignment problems after a lot of use. And, just like the front chain rings, you cannot EASILY REMOVE the front derailleur to service it or replace it. For most riders who do not want to remove and replace the front chainrings/crankset and front derailleur - AVOID THIS BIKE LIKE THE PLAGUE. When you buy a MTB, make sure of the following: 1) the front derailleur is easy to remove from the frame (ie. without requiring the entire front chainrings/crankset to be removed) for servicing or replacement 2) the front chainrings are easy to remove and replace (ie. without needing to drill out rivets, the chain rings should be bolted on) I am avoiding the Ironhorse brand for this burn. While I agree the purchase price is low, if you ride frequently, this is a THROWAWAY BIKE. The time and cost of replacing the crankset and front derailleur, which 100% will be required, makes it NOT WORTH IT by any stretch. I'll repeat these again, because these two items are "normal wear" items that MUST BE EASY TO REPLACE on any MTB you buy: 1) the front derailleur MUST be easy to remove from the frame (ie. without requiring the entire front chainrings/crankset to be removed) for servicing or replacement 2) the front chainrings MUST BE easy to remove and replace (ie. without needing to drill out rivets) The front chain rings are NOT INSTALLED WITH BOLTS. They are installed WITH RIVETS. You must drill out the freaking rivets to replace worn-out chain rings. It's like, FORGET IT. FYI, on most cranksets, the chainrings are installed with bolts than can be removed. This allows swapping out old, worn-out chainrings with new ones. Due to the rivets used on this model, you either have to drill out the rivets and try to find chainrings that will fit the crankset, or replace the entire crankset (with one that does not use rivets). For most people, drilling out rivets or replacing the entire crankset just because the chainring sprockets get worn IS NOT A FREAKING REASONABLE OPTION. For most people, this is a THROWAWAY BIKE when things start getting worn. And it's an EXPENSIVE throwaway bike in this case. If you want to dabble in mountain biking with a full suspension bike, with the idea of getting a better bike if you enjoy the trail riding activity, you should say "I need a throwaway full suspension bike because if I don't like trail riding I don't want to be out a lot of money when I stop using the bike, and I don't want to be out a lot of money if I decide to upgrade to a better full suspension bike if I find that I enjoy trail riding." There are 'throwaway' full suspension bikes far cheaper than this one that will allow you to find out if trailriding is something you're going to want to do. . .
