Gordon Strachan is a man that I have experienced every emotion possible in regards to throughout his career. As an Aberdeen player, he was feared & despised whenever he played against Celtic. As a Scotland international, he was real hope & inspiration against the world's elite. At Leeds, he was a player that I had nothing but huge respect for his longevity & leadership. At Celtic he wasn't instantly liked. Too much previous history & unfortunate to be following MON. He did however fall in love with the club & brought success at a time when it was all about cutting costs. Now, as a man with a lifetime of great memories & wisdom, I could listen to him for hours on end. A top man all round, even if he's an awkward bugger when he wants to be.

Gordon was selling himself as a youngster a bit short. The first time I saw him he was playing for Dundee in a cup semi-final against Celtic. He was so small and looked so young we thought he was on the picth as a mascot. He eclipsed everyone on the park including Dalglish and McGrain, who would not have been out of place in any team in the world at that time.

Never forgot him playing for Scotland against England. It was the end of the 80s and loose fitting shorts had just been introduced. They obviously only did one size, large, and on him he looked like a player for the 30s. Hilarious to see him arguing with the ref with those shorts on.

Respectfully disagree. By his own admission he stayed too long at the club. I think he learned from his mistakes at Coventry, and was arguably better at Southampton. I’ve a lot of time for GS, but what Robins has done for us is incredible, especially given all of the shenanigans off the pitch. I’d also say that Gordon Milne ranks above GS…

In his prime Strachan was a great player. Hated by opposition fans and wasn't always popular socially, even with his team mates. I remember when he was @ Leeds hearing personally from Chapman, Sterland, Jones, and Kamara that he was so boring on a night out. After 8pm Strachan was home, while the rest had a few beers! Being tough dunnae make u a great player. Souness went to sampdoria , looked at the talent, and got out quick. He thrived early 80s ONLY in Eng and europe, S America were far superior, football evolved quickly from 85 and he was left behind globally. Check out his goals and assists, look at the actual stats. look at his 82 WC arrogance that Brazil "didnt look that good" v USSR....i mean, really. Talking about the greatest flair Brazil team ever. What did he achieve for Scotland. Leader though eh...

At Sampdoria, Souness is a legend. Vialli and Mancini who played with him, still talked about his influence years later. Souness was picked in the Serie A team of the season alongside the likes of Maradona, Zico and Platini. If you want to check his stats, look at his medals at Liverpool where he was never sent off.
