Today is my first official day as an owner operator!!! 😌🥲 kinda bittersweet I will miss my local company I’ve been with the past 4 years but I know I have a better purpose 🏅🚛🙏🏽 here is my journey……..The reason for these videos is for MOTIVATIONAL purposes!!! I received my CDL 6 years ago when I was only 18 years old (2017) My original plan was to vlog my entire experience from day 1 but I wanted to really FOCUS on properly/safely operating a CMV 🚛 BUT ITS NEVER TO LATE 🙏🏽🤘🏽so 6 years later I’m deciding to VLOG the next chapter of my career which is becoming a owner operator at 25, the GOOD the BAD & the UGLY!

I worked for Cardinal and did the same. Preloaded and I had to use a manual jack at some stores and some had docks so they used a folk lift or power jack

@@To_consumed_by_the_hustle258 I use to deliver to the Trader Joe’s KLB and Ryder pulls from and they do pretty good over there they are usually day or Night runs the drivers there do pretty good and that warehouse has their own bobtail parking in the back so that is another benefit

So I’m 20 and I just graduated CDL school and my class A. It’s super hard to find a job around me that doesn’t leave the state because of my age so would it be smart to buy a little day cab truck and do my own local owner op stuff at 20? Would that even be a possibility?

It would probably be extremely difficult as most contracts/carriers want you to be 21+ my advice would be Pepsi or coke ….they typically hire younger ppl because they usually only make local deliveries….you could also look into becoming a yard jockey!

Do they pay acutal hub miles? Do they pay you to unload? How do they pay detention? Does the mileage rate decrease the more miles you do? A good company job hauling groceries is a easy 100k to 120k with benefits. Do you believe they are compensating you properly since you took on the headache of an emissions truck? How do they pay you for checking in 1 hour early then going to your 1st stop sitting for 1 to 3 hours burning up your clock? They seem fair

Technically I got the truck afterwards BUT I already knew that’s where I was going, I called loan mountain and put my down payment down to reserve the truck & buy myself time because KLB wasn’t fully operational yet (they were still building the terminal)……but I signed on with them like 3 days later as soon as they started leasing people on

@@iMissLucille I just put down $3500 that was it literally, I made another video about the process ….they do want you to have atleast an additional $3k in your bank account for maintenance but that money won’t go to them, the only “cash” you’ll give them is your downpayment

It’s usually not that hard …usually the Trader Joe’s stores have no docks so we usually only move each pallet to the edge of the trailer but this particular location had one & just wanted extra stuff done
