As much as I loved SH and Crusader, that much I hated these custom maps for multiplayer. Completely destroying the castle building experience that the game was supposed to offer..

it was made to minimize the lag because the player theres is just one straight line of walls to defend as for the economy it's mostly unchanged, just the layout for farms and stone plus iron.. also there can be spectators, up to like 6 people can watch as they have unreachable keeps

@@beardsntools just cause all players can do it doesnt matter. Stronghold is abyssmal in MP, which is why it never got an interesting online scene. Its not even 5% of the complexity as AoE2, and everyone just abuses the same boring shit. Shields, horse archers, etc its stupid. It is BEYOND Me why they never implemented actual unit modifiers like spearmen being useful vs horses or that kind of stuff that virtually every other strategy game has. Bottom line, stronghold is not meant for MP. It simply doesnt have enough variety in viable tactics to make it any interesting and the skill ceiling is waaaaaaay too low.

Multiplayer in this game is terrible, no fun castle building gameplay, only absolute sweats in the lobbys, they all just rush which is not fun at all. Therefore I either play mp with a friend or i play singleplayer

In Vanilla, bakers despawn if they don't find the flour in their original desired stockpile slot, they targeted on walking to the stockpile. Which is really bad. Also there is a bug too where one baker can empty all flour from the stockpile without taking any to his bakery. These things are all fixed with UCP ^^ (Shameless selfpromotion!)

Typical online match: Unlimited res maps, Population\Taxes bugs abuse, Shields, Horse Archers, Catapults. Sometimes you can see Knights, Assassins, Crossbowmen.

I don't really understand your "unlimited", I am pretty sure that in this kind of maps the opponents have the same quantity of resources (2 iron and 2 stone some grass etc), as in default ones I can say yeah, a good spam of quarries.

It is, especially with Mods that have better AI's than the classic ones Stronghold just has so much options to share Ressources and Gold which kinda supports teamplay Played with my Cousin and a friend against a Hackerman AI, sat there for hours since Hackerman basically insta builds a castle, doesnt need Eco, has infinite Gold and spams tons of Units . Was building the entire Eco while my Friend build our defense and my cousin our army. That was good fun indeed!

Ah, the joys of vanilla PT MP on flat "empty" maps... spam-click bread and other eco during PT, struggle to mass-construct shields, then HA+shield+catapult micro the shit out of your opponent until he resigns... I mean, there's certainly some skill involved there, but I never liked those empty maps and most units being irrelevant altogether. So for future MP videos, I'd love seeing some bootstrap games again (i.e. cool maps, 0 start gold, 0 PT) - with or without the bootstrap rebalance on top - to see some more varied gameplay with early trash spam, rushes, strategic terrain usage, non-standard eco builds, etc.

The observer guy wanted me to place my stockpile closer to the farmlands (Watch the first few seconds of the video, that's him playing) He was right though, it increases your production by a LOT

I remember playing my first online match. The guy I was playing with had lots more experience playing online but he just spammed archers and towers and thats it, didnt really knew much of the mechanics. So yeah instead of fighting, I just taught him economy and how to make seige equipment and how to attack. Happy memories right there.

i think you dont know the secret of copy troops type on 1 to 0 numbers... all you need is to select any type of troops like shiel and the press ctrl+1 . and the whenever you will press 1 those shields will automatically selected. and you can save hourses one number 2 . and so on

I'm using the steam version but I'm pretty sure they are all the same Yeah I used gameranger with no UCP. If you wanna play with a friend you're supposed to have to exact same UCP settings on both players. Check out UCP's github page for more info on how to play online!

I hate the delay in selecting troops for online matches. I have to wait like 3 or 4 whole seconds just to keep the selected group number toggled on ctrl + number. It might help, but setting rally points constantly at different spots for assassins can work in some situations, since they move really fast moving to rally point.

@@Ugh718 it doesn't say how to set rally points, but to set rally points simply open the barracks or mercenary post and press number keys(1-7) for which unit you want to use and click in the map where you want them to rally to. Number 1 key will be archers for barrack or slaves for mercenary post and so on
