One tool that I found helped with removing the nuts from plastics without unscrewing the post is Titan's Pinwrench. It's a thin piece of stainless steel with a 1/4" notch in one end and a 5/16" notch in the other. It's thin enough to fit under a plastic and hold the hex portion of the post while you unscrew the nut from on top of it. Marcos sells a similar tool under the name Stud-Buddy.

Can you link the ultrasonic cleaner and tumbler + medium you use? I'm about to start my own first project on this scale

Sure! So the Ultrasonic Cleaner is just one I picked up at Harbor Freight, but it is pretty much identical to this one: amzn.to/4bYN06g For the Tumbler, I ordered a Berrys 500 model with an extra bowl so I could have one filled with walnut (better for removing heavy corrosion, won't polish as shiny), and one filled with corn (lighter and polishes better). For heavily corroded parts I start with walnut for 24 hours and then do corn for 24, with a spoonful of Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish in each bowl. For parts that are in decent shape, I just use corn cob to polish.
