Your pillow looks amazing, and to me flawless!!! Quilting looks very intimidating to me. Touché to all those who can do it.

I'm much more comfortable with quilting, and the pillow looks fantastic! The new pattern will be amazing, I'm sure. The biggest tip I can share is to make sure to square up your blocks as you go so things stay relatively close to where you need them to be. All those biased edges will cause a lot of wonky sizes and shapes, so taking that time to bring it back to square will help. Make one block of each kind before making all of the blocks. That way, you can see where you might want to adjust or find a technique to keep the blocks on track. I can't wait to see how it turns out! Happy quilting!

Lovely pillow for your first effort. I too jumped into quiltilng blind, well i did that with bag making too. The one tip I can give you is always, always iron your fabric before you cut, those folds can distort the pieces which in turn can affect the overall project.

Wow! Your pillow looks 🤩🔥. Many years ago I started a baby blanket for my son, that I never finished…he turns 27 in two weeks. 😂😂😂. I’m looking forward to seeing your projects.

Love the quilt project. I too am into quilting. Great job, Jo. Don’t know who you follow in the quilting world but I like to share the gals I follow and they are awesome. The Fat Quarter Shop, Missouri Quilt Shop, Jordan Fabrics, Laundry Basket and Shabby Fabrics. They all have youtube channels with same name. Give it a look, maybe you’ll like some of their quiltings. Forgot Teresa Downunder.

wonderful first quilt project! Yes, use starch, but before you cut. As a bag maker and long arm quilter I would love to see quilted fabric in bag designs!

I live quilting. Congratulations on completing your beautiful pillow! Tips! Fabric shrinks when any water is applied. Shrinkage is uneven... more lengthwise than crosswise. Starch, which is wet, should be used before cutting for the most accurate cuts. Lisa Bonjean and Kimberly Jolly each have starching tutorials on YT. I prewash to avoid any warping or color bleeding. This is a controversial, hotly debated subject hahaha! Best wishes on your quilting adventure.

I love your pillow! I am so glad you did not listen to the naysayers. Prior to coming upon this video, I watched my first video from your channel. I watched the video where you outlined your process for choosing the new sewing machine you plan to purchase for bag making. Well done! i do not make bags or anything a sewist would do just yet, but I loved sewing in my sewing and I am easing back into this creative field rather slowing. Still, I am learning and enjoying the process. Thank you so much :-)

As a quilter and a bagmaker I'm excited to see what you come up with. There is a whole group of Japanese quilters who make bags that incorporate patchwork and applique, but they are a very different style from yours. Yoko Saito is one I'm familiar with. I'm truly excited to see your take on adding patchwork.

1. Iron your fabric before cutting 2. A stripology ruler will help a lot 3. Stack your fabrics so you cut more than one at a time 4. A rotating cutting mat is really helpful 5. Be careful with your seam allowances 6. Make sure you use non-directional fabric as it makes it easier to plan, cut and assemble 7. Don't underestimate how long it will take 🙂

Starch your fabric before you cut and defo on the new quilt trust me as there is a lot of 45 degrees sewn lines and that means your blocks will stretch if you don’t stretch You have to make one of my quilt patterns when you’ve got a chance

A love it! I’ve had to order the pattern. Couple of tips for future makes. As well as the starch spray, which is great before cutting, Flatter spray is brilliant when presenting your blocks and seams. For cutting all the squares, the June Taylor Shape Cut Plus is great and cuts down and time. I personally think it helps with accuracy too.
