It's not about winning, it's about the progression and experience. Good result despite the challenges!

My first time in expert as well. Crashed hard in both stage 3 and 1. Pretty bummed on how much time that cost. But at least we didn't get snowed out or hit by the plague.

I met you there by the beer gardens. Keep doing what you’re doing. It was my first race after getting back into mtb after a long time... crashed every stage and ended up damn near last. But I still had a rad time and will be back next year.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

My favourite thing about enduro racing is how good you feel after finishing all the stages, you feel nothing but stoke and like your position no longer matters!
@B1KER3 жыл бұрын
Even if you weren’t stoked with the results you were definitely cooking and made a great video out of it.

My skin was definitely cooking. My arms looked like a lobster bake that night.

You get better, it’s your first time in that class. I used to race hares rambles so I know exactly how you feel. You wanted to be in the top 50% I’m guessing then start placing. I’m with ya my friend!👍

Great vid; I'm glad you pulled it through on Hot Gates - that was close. I practiced it several time during the week, was all ready to go, and then they said non-pro/non-experts had to do the go around. The go around sucked and I had never ridden it, but oh well, it was a beautiful day. Until I blew out my carbon rim on Stage 4.

Seems like a rough race to do in the beginning of the season. Going from wet conditions to really loose dirt and gnarly rocks. Good thing the cardio and stamina usually is on 🔥 this time of year!

Is there a resource for finding all the enduro races in this area? I've looked around but was only able to find the cascadia dirt cup. I'm glad I know about this one now for future years though!

You did a lot better than I would have done, haha. What sag and tire pressure do you run for your Enduro races?
@TheShredist3 жыл бұрын
Around 25%-28% sag, and like 26ish psi in the tires.

I "sucker-punched" a tree the very exact same way this weekend.... it was the "electric" pain that made me not feel my arm for the rest of the descent .... must suck in the middle of a race .... I had at least time to stop and check if I still had fingers :O

That looks loose and rowdy. I moved up to expert half way through my first enduro season last year and actually placed a little better on a season average. So many sandbaggers in the amateur class.
@johnnydoe663 жыл бұрын
Truth be told, you seemed faster in the last stage when you were just having fun. About those fingers, I have smashed my pinky fingers multiple times against trees and rocks. I may have actually broken my right one because it turned purple, swelled up, and was severely painful to bend. It's been two months and every time I just bump it, it turns purple and swells right back up at the middle joint. Wide bars are great for most things, but not narrow rocky gaps.

You ever thought of racing in clips man?
@TheShredist3 жыл бұрын
I've tried it before, definitely more of a hindrance for me than if I just stick with flats.
@shredeasy85803 жыл бұрын
@@TheShredist ah fair enough man, I recently switched to clips, after blowing feet quite allot on the rough trails we have In Christchurch NZ, for me I enjoy it cause it' makes commit quite abit more. But it does add another pychological element to riding. Suppose there's differnet benefits to both flats and clips.
@TheShredist3 жыл бұрын
I would definitely like to cash in the on benefits of being clipped in, im sure one i got used to it it wouldn't be so bad lol.

So there was a local young lady who raced and she crashed in the Hot Gates area. Face planted so hard her sunglasses cut into her above her eyebrow. She ended up needing stitches. She also gashed her leg open the size of a silver dollar from her handlebar. At least you didn't have that kind of day!
@TheShredist3 жыл бұрын
That's horrible, never like to hear of injuries like that, hope she heals up quick!

Duuude I felt your pain in the chute where your hand hit the rock. Looked like you were out of your flow and gripping the bars a little tight! Blown out trail doesn’t help the confidence either. 🤷🏼♂️
