Conner Sullivan Heyy I actually want to ask you a little question. I'm from Germany and in 2 weeks the holidays are over and I have a little problem, because I have to take English in school but my English is as good as my French... I feel like I've never heard just about that language. And I need help in English. So if I understood you well, you like to teach non native speaker ?

@Joseph Mingle Mate do you realise there are black people in britain and have been for ages?
@marcosjoel374
@marcosjoel374 6 жыл бұрын
Joseph Mingle please do take into account that both those nations you referred to were colonised by white people. Those white South Africans and White Americans live amongst a people who are natives, in this case, Native Americans and Black South Africans..native in this sense is used to differentiate between European colonisers and their descendants and Natives American and Black Africans. But if we wereto look at it from a linguistic sense, I being born in and living in the UK makes me a native to the UK. And if I were to go back to a nation in Africa, for example Angola I would be a displaced native, if we are to follow your definition of native. So I won’t say you’re incorrect but I still believe you should educate yourself a little more.

I was lucky enough to visit London in 1989 where I stayed at a B&B at Victoria Station that was actually run by an actual native white Londoner. She served a very nice breakfast, and I remember she couldn't understand when I asked for a glass of "water", because being an American, I pronounce it "wodder", where she pronounces it "woh-tah".

Yes, you need time to see the best. For example, step back in time to the Inns of Court, off Fleet Street, a little haven. Take a great stroll along the river from the London Eye to Southwark Cathedral, dropping into Tate Modern en route. The possibilities are endless.

Please ignore the attention seeking trolls on here. This is a positive video about my home city. I was born here, and I work in the centre. Just adding to what others have said, the Tube is very handy, but you risk missing a lot. Don’t forget the bus, or maybe get off the Tube one stop early and walk the rest of the way. Covent Garden to Leicester Square isn’t far at all, but you see a lot in that short distance. In fact, that’s just down the road from Trafalgar Square. As for shopping, my daughters reckon the coolest place is Camden Town. You get the 88 bus from the West End, or from Russell Square take the Piccadilly Line to King’s Cross and change to the northbound Northern Line.

DrPhilFurry Your comment - if it is genuine - reads like something out of the Fox News narrative. This is a video aimed at those who want to get the best out of visiting London. Those who just want to see the worst can be ignored on a harmless video like this. I’m not suggesting London’s perfect (nowhere is), but if anyone wants to make sackcloth and ashes remarks, there are plenty of political videos to air their pessimistic outlook.

@gregghanson6095
@gregghanson6095 6 жыл бұрын
Calpoly, to say that London is overrated says to me who took youth tours to Europe for years, that you don't know your history, architecture and culture. London is one of the great centers of Western Culture. Yup, there's food and shopping like there is in every westernized metropolitan city everywhere, If you did a video of food in London, that's a whole different thing...provided that you are not eating McDonalds or fast food. How it comes off is that you think London is a bore so you decided to shop. Have you ever been to the West End, along with New York, the greatest theatre district on earth? Have you been to Royal Albert Hall to the Proms where every year the world's great artists in all genres perform there? Have you been to Piccadily Circus, Soho, etc etc to say nothing of the obvious tourist places, many of which are the model for the beginnings our American culture? I don't know what you did or saw the first nine times. One comment said "He's Americaning".Sadly, he's right.

Oxford Street is NOT the Rodeo Drive of London. Where is Conner getting his advice from? If you want some sort of equivalent to Rodeo Drive, head to Sloane Street, or New Bond Street or Old Bond Street. A subway is an underground tunnel that connects one side of the road to another, or it could be a sandwich shop. It is not a transport system, at least not here. Use the word “tube”, or perhaps “metro”.

Ace. Nailed IT. Lifeless Paris died a long time ago. New York might be awesome just for Americans, for europeans IT is simply an overrated one wants to leave after 5 days.. This combination, plus being the greenest metropolis in the world, best city for sports. Culture, shopping, studying,etc etc makes London the world's favourite city.

Ok, a visitor to London will go straight to the Centre and see all the usual tourist hot spots. I get that. Lived in London all my 53 years and I know it like the back of my hand. Want a nice day out? Get the tube to Warwick Avenue, walk to Little Venice and then walk the length of the Regents Canal to The River Thames, its about 9 miles. Takes you through Kings Cross, Camden Market, Islington (stop at Chapel Market for an awesome, cheap Indian Vegetarian Curry Restaurant-Best in London), and Victoria park. No cars or buses, plenty of people watching, LOADS of places to eat, nice pubs. A really nice walk and a very nice day out.

I remember my first time arriving in London in October 2010. I remember the foggy morning riding on the train from Gatwick ariport to Victoria station, it felt like a dream and so subreal!. In the afternoon I had my first plate of Fish and Chips, it was 20 pounds for the plate by Picaddily Circus, it was the most horrible fish I have tasted in my life, I could only eat the Chips! :))) That night the first thing I did was to take a ride in a double decker, my first experience of Real London and riding on a Double decker. By the way I love London and English culture as a whole, I am an Anglophile, like I tell my British Friends, I love everything British, but the food! :))

As a Londoner, I was the same the first time I went to New York. By day three though, I realised it's basically a carbon copy of London. We have Regents Park. They have Central Park. We have endless dining options. They have endless dining options. The level of crime and how aware you need to be of your surroundings depending on the time of day is virtually identical. In terms of friendliness of the people, it's about on a par. The pricing is a little bit more expensive in New York, but if you are actually comparing like with like, probably not by much.

Great vid! So glad ya liked London, my wonderful city. I live in the suburbs of London and what reeeeeally bugs me is how the prices are so hiked for tourists. I know that's what happens but it's still annoying to see visitors to my city get ripped off. Me and a load of mates regularly take their kids to the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum and one time in a nearby park I went to buy a few cokes for us all and was asked for 4 quid for each can! In my best South London accent I was like "Are you fucking kidding me mate??? Do I look like a bloody tourist?" All the Yanks behind me in the queue laughed their tits off so I guess they got a taste of real Londoners that day. :)
