Great video guys. Just subbed. I hope that Harlies get the Daemon treatment where you can take a small detachment without breaking any of your faction bonuses. Without the force org restrictions in place anymore they could be a toolbox of good stuff. Solitares, Bikes, Troupes for Obsec with an Invuln, just whatever is good. Particularly if Banshees/Scorpions are underpowered or overcosted.

Oh for sure! Thematically elves shouldnt ever lose a single soul in battle. They don't even show up unless they know they will win, and with such speed and precision that the battle is over before it begins... But you can't do that on the tabletop! That's straight unfair! 🤣

I would say the only time you reroll the initial 12 dice is if you roll 5+ 1s. The farseer flipping one dice to a 6 per turn means up to 5 1s are actually 6s, and every other roll is usable with eldar (2s are hit rolls for characters or wound rolls for big guns). 3+ is just a good roll.

Also just watched til the end, you can actually only use the farseer ability once per turn but not per farseer. Stacking multiple farseers means handing out more fortune but still only one auto 6

Also with the single hit/wound reroll never slam down a fate dice straight off the bat for things like prism cannons and bright lances, always roll the first one to see if you get the hits/wounds for free!

Exactly! After some time to look at it, i did notice it was only once no matter how many farseers you have. But if you have 2 for example, it's only something within 12 that can change. So you can decide where you want the 6 with a bit more variety as well, and the reroll hit and wound trait is going to be soooo oppressive using the strands on the rerolls instead.

As Eldar player, it's kind of troubling. It might not be broken in friendly games (as you're usually running a mixed list at this point with a little bit of everything inside) but, as far as competitive scene is concerned, it might get pushed to extremes with nerfs coming soon(ish). Now imagine something like a Wraithknight with (quite possibly) Devastating Wounds on it's Heavy Wraithcannons --> with damage characteristics of 10 it can slap for 20 mortal wounds + 20 regulard damage thanks to the Strands dice. It's insane. Edit,: Nvm, devastating wounds doesn't deal MWs in addition, it just converts dmg to MWs --> it would be bout 20 mortals, maybe more

Oh it's certainly going to be nerfed right?! I mean how else would they balance this? Just by making everything cost 3x the price it was originally? I mean a unit of 3 war walkers for example can hold 6 bright lances. That's like 48 dmg potentially just through sheer strands abuse. After something like knights take 48 dmg from a single unit. How do they come back???

This was a pleasant surprise tbqh, I've been expecting much worse given the treatment we've been receiving from the "balance updates" for quite a while. Also the Spess Mehreen craze & being the red-headed & pointy-eared stepchildren of GeeDubz with 30+ year old models in their range and all that jazz... - I bet Farseer Skyrunners will have different powers like Doom or Guide. (also named seers like Eldrad and the like as Neal mentioned). Some iconic powers may also appear as strats. - There's no 7" limitation for the new Fire & Fade. 2 or 3 of those new Fire Prisms can just aggressively push one forward + blast stuff to oblivion with linked fire + hide behind something using the blinding speed of an Eldar skimmer tank. - The new Fortune only requires the Aeldari faction keyword so it looks like it will be working on stuff like the Avatar or the Wraithknight. -1 wound on those would be p. damn sweet. - Reapers were already lookin' good even though they weren't shown here based on the core rule changes and the snippet from that weapon rules preview from a while ago... Now they're looking even better with these rules.

It's surely about time Reapers made a comeback right? They were paying for their Ynnari sins for a long time ... I didn't notice in the moment but I believe the farseer ability is limited to one dice roll per turn for all your farseers so running one is probably optimal. But you're totally right! Skyrunners and Eldrad will surely have different powers, and the new fire and fade if you have CP for it would make 3 fire prisms totally untouchable and infinitely powerful. Especially when you don't even need to spend strands dice on their dmg rolls.... It's certainly nice to see Eldar getting some fun tools! But I hope it's not super overwhelming as it will just be boring to play, unfun for people to play against and make the community dislike elves even more than they already do so....

Fire and fade has not been nerfed, quite the opposite. It is basically identical in all respects to what it is now, except it allows a normal move at the units full characteristic rather than limiting that move to 7'. That is a crazy upgrade, given Eldar jave a lot of units with move charscteristics of 14-16.

I was so wrong during the live stream! I thought it was a bit of a nerf as it is still 2 CP and CP is supposedly very reduced so technically that's like a 3cp strat now? But if it allows something a full move after that it's pretty insane. It's also not capped to once per game like it was for a little while... Really good!

@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial CP starts at 0 but you still gain 1 at the start of each turn (yours and your opponent's). It does mean you can only use this T1 if you are going second, unless there are more CP regen abilities we don't know about yet. It is also worth thinking about how this combines with the fire prism linked fire rule. With no range limit on the linked prisms and fire and fade allowing a full move after shooting 2-3 prisms will be incredibly frustrating to play against. To be honest some of this is so strong I seriously expect a nerf. The detachment ability is known to be crazy, it was highly problematic in previous editions and with de-restricted army construction rules there is even less to stop Aeldari players spamming individual war walkers, weapon platforms, viper jetbikes etc. I think someone ran the math and a viper with a bright lance increases it's expected damage output by +77% just from the detachment ability - and that is before you use strands dice to guarantee 8 damage on the damage roll. I play Craftworld Eldar, and this looks so good I am genuinely concerned no-one will want to play against us.

Dude. Spoken like a champion. I couldn't have said it better myself. The worst thing about playing eldar is how much everyone else dislikes playing against their annoying jumping mechanics like fire and fade. I thought expert crafters was gone for good. But it seems that whoever wrote the index rules for 10th edition really likes eldar? This will just make the community hate eldar players even more, and what's worse, it takes away the challenge of winning with a lower tier army, by pulling off flashy plays that deserve some respect. This is just brute forcing damage down the enemies throat!

The detachment ability may also be there to partly compensate for the loss of guide and doom. People will always whinge about Eldar, even when they are not OP there just seems to be something about them that rubs certain people up the wrong way, probably the arrogance? I am still looking forward to reminding the Mon'Keigh that they are only a few evolutionary leaps above rats though . . .

I wouldn't say they're busted they also won't be reviving a codex for over a year after 10th release so I believe their rules were more fleshed out with this in mind.

Yea definitely possible! A lot of people have been speculating that. Do you think warlocks will be hq's? Or like a small add on to each unit for a single buff on like a 3+? Like a plasmacyte.

@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial I have no real idea how warlocks will actually work, but my guess is that can attach to unit as a one of providing a buff, but can form a squad with additional psychic benefits. I think the farseer bike might have a doom type effect, but since the falcon already does??? I look forward to finding out.

i think they will soon rewrite the rule..... 12 dice at thebeginning is too much as this example shows. Maybe get additional 3 Dice every round would be more balanced

Fortune seems garbage. Went from reroll saves to -1 wound roll great so bolters (which a common weapon for space marines now wound on 4+ instead of 3+) big deal

Fortune wasn't re-roll saves, it was a 5+ feel no pain and only effected core and character units. -1 to wound is a more swingy effect, but it will be better on very high toughness models like wraithknights or the Avatar, where it can likely make many weapons wound them on 6s.

Reroll is not a roll, so no, you can't substitute a fate dice for a reroll. GW also mentioned that they would try to limit rules changes for indices, instead adjusting points. So expect all your units to go up in points compared with factions with weaker rules.

As eldar player I see this as both major buff and nerf to eldar. Major buff in damage, but there are several nerfs. For example, we now technically no longer have advance and shoot assault weapons without penalty, since everyone can do that. Eldar now also cannot advance and shoot with pistols. Direct durability has technically increased, since defence profile stayed the same, while weapons are less powerful, but it still isn't enough to not get shot out of board when caught in open - and unlike mob armies we likely cannot afford that. One of biggest parts of the nerf is losing move-shoot-move, since biggest part of our durability was to not be in line of shooting. From what I see, Eldar will have a few strong tricks, but will get wiped off the board by anything that survives long enough to shoot back or manages to get a drop on our units.

In 9th you would get at least 20 fate dice in 2000pt games. Guardians will have to hold a point to increase your fate dice

That was my first reaction! But knowing that you can use them all in one go, and specify which dice goes where. So technically before you had a 6 to wound for example. Now you could have a 4, but use it for hits, wounds, dmg, saves etc!

@@florianwegler8184 Do they?! Intercessors have 24” heavy/assault bolt rifles. 10 Guardians and 5 Intercessors actually are about even when in an isolated fight. They will probably cost about the same too which means they are dead even balance wise

Man you need to do an update cause they really crap on Eldar. In my opinion they really ruin the faction and many character. Eldrad practically useless. The Phoenix Lords are ruin and weak now. Wraith units became more squishier. Overall pretty meh. Love to your take on it.
