One thing that would be really interesting if you wouldn't mind; since you sent a report on this, maybe skim over the updates as they come-- and if you see an update for your Ford; If you wouldn't mind hooking up and checking if they fixed this with the update. I'm just curious as to how fast they actually fix these kind of things, or if it's many months or even years later- if ever. cheers

I haven't used a parking brake in literally 20 years! Chocks, yes. My 07 Dodge caravan hasn't even got the cables to the rear drums anymore! I guess if you live in San Francisco this might be an issue? X-Tools tend to follow up on these 'issues' rather well. But never-the-less, you caught the problem and got around it. That is good. I know of VWs that have their parking brakes just come in the middle of nowhere! That is a problem.

Yea I have read stuff like that too but i don't believe have of them. Some people don't know what they are doing, and others have a different scanner and don't want to believe xtool could be better. I have had mine connected to many different makes and models and have never had it cause any problems until this parking brake issue but they fixed it in 2 or 3 days after seeing my video. I actually have another video talking about the fix.

big respect for you sir, I've learned a lot from your channel and i decided to buy Autel MS906ts, I'm doing road service and i will need it for sure, especially for a battery replacement on BMW and MINI, and lot of times people ask me to read the codes for them,now i have a question, would MS906ts be able to show me what is the problem with my 2012 F150 fx4, i installed a new battery and now i saw few times when i park home at night after 2-3 hours dashboard lights turns on, but only the back white led light nothing else and because of that my battery gets weak. How can i check that problem from where to start? thank you

First thing is to do a full scan and see if there are any codes. If there are not go into the instrument module and see what kind of live data there is and see what kind of checks it will allow you to do.

NEW D9 not D9 pro comments here Its has software issues and technical support is rubbish ,It wont scan a Citroen C3 2015 offline this is the 3 rd car we have scanned it scans the Honda and ford transit OK off line . we also discovered it wont scan the C3 add blue system ,Support is terrible

The xtool is basically just a Chinese copy of the autel. They seem to be pretty good at fixing stuff if you just report it.

Autel is good but keep it updated so it's under warranty because the software is good but the hardware not so good. I just has my elite tablet replaced because it had issues

The battery on my Extool is very weak so if you buy the Bluetooth version you will still probably have to keep it plugged in

Mine is about 2 years old now and the battery is still great. I do not leave it plugged in to make sure it does not overcharge. I am sure if you crack open the case you will be able to find a suitable battery online.

You dont even need the scan tool for that truck, the truck has theoption on the display screen to put the parking brakes in maintinance mode.

My Xtool D8 could not even find my Nissan Xtrail T31 or Australia 🇦🇺 in the Oceania region on the Xtool. It only had Austria and Albania 🇦🇱 on it. They forgot about Australia 🇦🇺.

As for the auto scan, please let me to explain it, not all vehicles can be supported as the VIN is not stored in the ECU of some vehicles, it's suggested to try other two ways: 1.If Auto scan failed try Manual input VIN code 2.Diagnosis-select vehicle-Automatic Detection 3.Diagnosis-select vehicle-Manual selection As for the issue you reported in last e-mail, if failing to find the option of Nissan Xtrail T31 2010 under the menu of "Oceania" by track of manual input, then it's recommended to try the route of "Diagnosis>Nissan>Auto detection" or "Diagnose>Manual selection>Oceania Common>X-TRAIL>T31" to see if they can direct to the right page.

Yea I am with you. Just the other day I had to drive my sons 2007 jeep wrangler using only the hand pulled parking/emergency brake. I am wondering how the electronic parking brake works if you are moving and need to use it to help stop you in case you lose all normal braking.

@@737mechanic Exactly. I am about to find that out with my new purchase of a Toyota Cross. IF I ever get it delivered that is. 9-month wait & still no vehicle.UGH! Not complicated enough I guess. Only been used since the 1920s. More money for parts & maint. Just like all the other non-essential stuff on these money pits. Keeping it simple, keep it cheap is my motto.

I bought this tool and sent it right back after a few day of use. Not worth the hassle so I'll just keep updating my Snap-On Solus Edge. Expensive but it works every time.

@@737mechanic Well, for starters, it did not support vehicles newer than 2022 even after all the current updates were performed. In addition, Chrysler vehicles, some starting from 2018, have a Security Gateway Module so the tool required the 12+8 cable which is fine in the event of an emergency repair but who wants to tear into a dashboard just to fine the diagnostic connectors. It appears that other car manufacturers are installing these SGM's in the near future so this tool will be obsolete unless you want to purchase all the different cables for every make/model. I knew this ahead of time but since xTool mentioned nothing of this, I took a chance. It also would not auto connect on all the vehicles I tried it on ranging from mid 90's to 2010 model year. On one vehicle, it would not access the BCM or the ICM even though the vehicle was equipped it them both. The data readings such as the coolant and transmission fluid temperatures where all over the place and inconsistent so you can see how this could effect your diagnosis if you can't trust the scanner you're using. I guess for some weekend warrior mechanic it could be a good tool if all their doing is some basic code clearing or resets but for and in-depth diagnostic, the inconsistencies are not good. I was really hoping this scanner would have worked for me but unfortunately you get what you pay for.

You are correct about the SGM but it is a $600 scanner so how can anyone expect it to have that when most people that are going to spend $600 on a scanner are never going to pay a yearly fee so they can access the autoauth website anyway. As far as it not supporting vehicles over 2022 yet, this is only 2023 people with a 2023 or a 2024 are taking their vehicle back to the dealer under warranty. As far as inconsistent readings. I have had mine for over 2 years now and have been hooked to many makes and models and have not noticed inconsistent readings.

@@737mechanic That is your experience and I'm glad it worked for you but that is obviously not the case as the many disappointed comments on this video and others show. You are correct about people taking their vehicles back to the dealership put that doesn't help the many cases where they may not have that option. All I'm saying is xTool should not be misleading and pushing a product that they claim is the same or comparable to a factory scanner when in fact it isn't. One thing is for sure, this scanner is targeted towards the weekend warrior shadetree mechanic type who just needs something affordable and that's fine. As for myself, I gave it a try but it's not worth the hassle of the unreliability and the hassle of having to notify them of the issues with their tool then having to wait for them to fix the problem with an update that who know when it will come. @@Wearenotperfect. You are correct as far as the customers they are targeting. Would I expect a professional mechanic to buy this tool and solely rely on it, NO. But would is make a great back up scanner YES. Most DIY guys are not going to buy a snap on scanner so xtool was the answer as far as I am concerned. I bought a Snap on Verus before I bought my Autel, I paid $2500 USED for my Verus and it had its issues that needed fixing with updates so after spending $1200 for the update it did fix some of the issues but I finally decided the cost wasn't worth it and I sold it and bought my Autel and now I have the xtool. The Verus would not program near the keys that the xtool does and other things that the xtool does. The xtool IS comparable to a factory scan tool. It activates and has about the same special functions as the factory scan tools do. Does it have issues, yes of course it does but xtool fixes them very quickly and at a fraction of the cost. Most of the people I have seen complaining about something are people that don't know how to operate or use a scan tool with features that the xtool has so they would complain about a snap-on or any other scanner also. Which brings me to my last point, go over to Snap-On's forum and look at all the professional mechanics complaining about their Snap-on scan tools and rightfully so for the price they pay.

OK folks the D7 Xtool it's a piece of junk I wouldn't buy D7D8 or D9 I wouldn't buy X tool they sent me a piece of trash they patched together a unit that probably had been returned and send it to me as brand new and that's what I got a piece of junk 30 days is what you have to return it and it must be in original condition to return it so if you use it and you put a little scratch on it which you will it's yours you wanna see a good one go to my KZbin and you'll see why not to buy the X tool

Yeah, Xtool has several other dedicated scantools that are just for keys--- and I think they just copy/ pasted all that software, to be included in the D8. Because I've copied 4 different keys with it now, and it worked well. It even "pulled codes" for my 2002 Acura MDX. Although I did notice that it would NOT copy keys for the MDX when it asked for 'how many keys do you want to program": If I put "2" -- it would end up going through nearly the whole process and then abort at the very end. So after trying that 3 different times, I just decided to copy only 1 key-- and it worked fine, and then I just went back through the whole process again and copied the third key. So it would work fine copying them one at a time, but it kept failing if you did any more than that. Ultimately I did get it figured out though. So if you're doing multiple keys with the D8 and it gives you trouble, just try to program them one at a time... I think that's actually a Honda problem more than a xtool issue. (because I've seen it on another account with a honda accord, and he was using an Autel or Thinktool, and not the D8)
