My first sketchbook tour

Hello :) Today I wanted to share my sketchbook with you and I am a little worried that it is not that impressive and because it is my first sketchbook tour I am not sure what you expect my sketchbook to look like. There is a lot of pencil sketches, doodles, half finished drawings, abandoned sketchbook pages and drawings gone wrong in it. I would love to be that person that can show you a creative and finished drawing on every page but that it just not me. I love to turn my brain off and scribble with a pen or just do messy pencil drawings that I abandon halfway trough when I am not feeling them. So even though a lot of pages are still empty I want to start a new sketchbook and take what I have learned in this one to make my future sketchbooks more fun and exciting for me to draw in.

This was such a good sketchbook tour, I loved it. It's important to show people "what the fck doodles" and empty pages that we don't feel like finishing. It's showing real workflow and what sketchbooks are for. Thank you so, so much for this video, motivated me to fill up my sketchbook a little bit, gave me hope to finish one and get better, it was genuine and funny. And a really life saving 40 minutes during the exam season ❤️

Thank you! 😀 Yeah I was thinking about filling up the empty sad space with more drawings before I do the video but it just felt like cheating to myself and everyone that is watching the video. It is what it is and I don't want to force myself to draw something to play pretend when I want to move on. Thanks! I was so stupid nervous about it but it was also very freeing in a way 😀 I think the expectations we set for ourselves are always higher so it's a bit nerve-wracking to let go and be like "wellp. This is it." and the world didn't end and it was all just a self-made big mindfuck :)

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this - your sketches are incredible, despite what you think! And your voice is so soothing :) I have a sketchbook and there is one rule - everything I do, I have to finish. I think it was a tip Minnie Small passed on in one of her videos. It helps you get through the stage where you think it's all going wrong and persevere to see if it improves. Sometimes it doesn't, but sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised and wouldn't have completed it if I didn't have this rule!

This is my favourite sketchbook tour e v e r . Your work is great, very interesting and original, and you can seriously draw!! I love every single page, but I adore the beautiful girl surrounded by plant leaves (one of your last pages, also featured in your last 'draw with me' video) and I need her as a print to purchase!! Thank you! I am currently figuring out how I can use watercolor and ink together to make me feel good about my finished art again. I want to remake some of my sketches and see if it works out. Beautiful and inspiring sketchbook tour! Nowadays, I tend to use the left side of my sketchbooks for swatching, notes, and composition sketches and the right side for finished pieces. I also keep a cheap sketchbook for mindless studies and doodles.

That was a great SB Tour. My current sketchbook is the first one that I am trying to curate with more good ideas. The trick, I found is not to be too hard on myself when something doesn't turn out, and flip the page. (: I do love the line heavy pieces a lot.

Yeah I feel as soon as I started to treat it more like a junk collection of ideas I was feeling a lot happier drawing in it. Maybe that's why I was so eager to be done with it becouse I had this new mindset and so many of my drawings reminded me of all the frustration I had with it before 🤷‍♀️

You really need to stop tearing your art down and calling it "boring". You are incredibly talented and especially the way you draw figures is so unique and beautiful, as well as the gorgeous color palettes you choose. Also you don't have to explain every little thing you did for the video to be interesting, thats the beauty about art, it speaks for itself :)

I feel like you have a great grip on things I am still working on yourself, and seeing some process behind it (and also hearing your commentary and listening to you not being too sure about things yourself as well, oddly) is very inspiring! Hey, I did enjoy this. I usually skip sketchbooktours. Hm. Not this one. I wonder why. I currently have 9 sketchbooks. 3 are totally filled. One has several blanc pages, the others have a blanc vs filled page ratio of 90 %. I couldn't care less. I mess up a lot. I'm - hold your breath - 57 and had a break from art because I had to do a job (art was not work in those days, not an option. But I never stopped drawing: during boring meetings, doodling on reports, painting x-mas cards, whatever reason to practice some skills). Your doodles are better than most of my sketches. That being said... I use separate sketchbooks for what I consider finished work and other for doodly or sketchy work. I have several spiral bound sketchbooks for whatever I want and tear out the worst stuff. I also have one 300 gms 100% cotton for watercolor and another not 100% cotton. I don't mind at all about blanc backpages. That means, for you especially: if someone wants to buy your original art: you can cut that page out and sell it. You have to consider that option! When u use alcohol markers u're just doomed to gosting on the backside unless u use special paper for alcoholmarkers. So, I don't care for that either. I only make sure I put something between pages to protect the next page. Your sketchbook is beautiful, Kloodwig. The endless variety shows many processes of your experimenting talent. When you finish with saying: not interesting... you are so not doing right to yourself, my dear. I hope you can start a new sketchbook soon and find your way in it. Love to see how you evolve. & I'm so happy to see the amount of subscribers has raised so much over the past months! Good work

I love it! Really like what you are saying about those sketches, the little stories and mainly techniques, I like your style, your sweet swearing and stuff :D Hopefully there will be more sketchbook tours in future! I also hate when the page is curled or when pencil smudges to the other side, so I decided to draw on one side only and it really is sad, on the other hand, the page with drawing stays clear. I also don't understand how other artists do it!

I have lots of blank pages in my sketch books as well. I often start drawing something just like you and then abandon it because I lots interest or I felt like I was forcing it. Sometimes I rediscover them again years later and make them into something else because I have a fresh idea, which is like a happy ending. You are certainly not the only one!

And it was a great time to watch this sketchbook tour, don't be ashamed really. Sometimes a sketchbook has doodles, you're absolutly not alone in that case. This is AMAZING!! I love your art so! much!!! My entire sketchbook is full of sad doodles, I've never used paint in my sketchbooks so far (and I've got a TON of sketchbooks). I'm finally gonna branch out and try some colour in my current sketchbook. I'm also finally putting a bit more effort into mine, because until now I've thought a sketchbook is just a place to practice and it doesn't have to look nice... so mine never do! But I'm thinking more about composition and trying to clean up doodles in this book. So hopefully it won't be as sad as the others :) I"m so glad you posted this, it's really inspirational to see all your artwork!

Hi! In general I'm thinkink that's really cool sketchbook, I love the colors that you're using in there. Only think that's off is that you're using one, same and general expression. Try work on that, because that would make your stuff cooler.

I totally relate to the comment about wanting one sketchbook but loving so many different mediums. I also love watercolor, gouache, alcohol markers and pencils or colored pencils. It's keeping me from filling a sketchbook. I want to finish one this year but I can't figure out how to do it with so many mediums. Maybe I'll try what you did here and just throw everything at one book and see what happens. I'm interested to see what you decide to do for your next sketchbook.
