Minimum wage applies to people of all ages otherwise and there's limits on how many hours they can work. Because of this, students need a special work permit. They give this to their employers who are supposed to acknowledge these laws and keep the permit on file.

I got a KitKat for my friends birthday, that was the first purchase I made with my money 😂 and then later, I lost $15 from it falling out of my pocket in the laundry room and someone saw it and swooped it up for themselves and said nothin😭 I was looking everywhere in the area for those $15 n I never found them LOL I was gonna use it to buy hydrocolloid bandages for my acne and stupid me didn’t put the money in a better spot like in my phone case for example. I spent about 6 mths being a Lot Porter, basically cleaning cars be they newly bought or post maintenance. Originally I worked 6 days a week or maybe it was 5 I don't know remember, but I'd work from 7a-8p each day I had to work during the week and 9a-8p on Saturdays and 12p-6p on Sundays. Was only paid $10/hr, cussed out by several sales people and mechanics. After awhile I told the general manager, "hey man, I'm in school studying, I can't be doing this many hours." So I was dropped down to about 25-30 hrs a week and once I got a contractor job offer, I quit that day from the dealership.

Summer job Warehouse order picker (small warehouse, items were for gas stations/deli’s so mainly counter goods travel size medication, notepads, etc.) $10hr/cash this was all the way in 2012 so the minimum was like $7 or $8 , my aunt was the only worker there apart from the owner (he would deliver the orders so he was basically never there) so it was a good, light place of work for me. I thank my aunt the whole time for getting me the summer job 😀

My first job was as a camp counselor 3 years ago at a day camp, I was taking care of 12 children, ages 5-7 by myself, from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm, 5 days a week for all of July and August, I made $2.38 Canadian, an hour... I'm now a university student and struggling to pay my tuition to be able to stay in school, even with help from government programs.

I worked a job like that except it was all that plus washing cars. I know he washed by a car but i washed cars primarily and cleaned the shop when I wasn’t cleaning the shop. But I got paid a heck of a lot more then 100 a week. It was a summer job at a collision repair shop so same thing sweep, clean bathrooms when I’m not washing cars.

When I was an apprentice I was working a job that had A LOT of downtime. I'm talking 12 hours and only doing 6-8 hours of work. Well my boss had me clean the bathrooms and I hated every minute of it. Felt so degrading and I was treated like shit and just wanted to quit but then I realized that these guys were paying me double time ($58 an hour) to clean the toilets. My attitude did a complete 180 and cleaning the bathrooms wasn't so bad anymore.
