We love our Toyota Raize here in Lipa. Toll roads are easy but in the cities here, you got Trikes, scooters, bikes, jeepneys, pedestrians, etc., to worry about. Thanks for sharing and have a safe trip!

Traffic enforcement is much stricter in the US. But if you drive in the Philippines, you can basically drive anywhere else in the world.

Don't drive when the sun has right gone down because many don't know when to turn on their lights and many of the tricycles have poor lights or none! People think they have cats vision, but don't understand light are for to see and be seen! Traffic is slow even on the best roads because there is always a slow tricycle in front of you going at about 35-40 km hour. And also the big overloaded trucks. Normaly you will overtake them on the lafts side, but on some main roads there is an lane for the slow, but they don't like to use it. So if there is a good view with nothing up front, then you can overtake on the right side if you have guts to do it!

Was that an M-16 assault rifle the parking guard was holding? I guess everyone is paying or validation their parking ticket. Great road trip but after seeing the traffic and road condition, we decided on Tagaytay, Cavite. It is only 1:45 minutes from BGC and still has the mountain vibe.

Driving in the Philippines is ok. Do not get mad. There is no road rage in the Philippines (occasionally). Filipino drivers are like , reading each mind. Just keep driving, they used a short horn to letting you know he will commit. Let it go!

I experienced doing Manila to albay then RORO to get to Samar crossing San Juanico Bridge all the way to Leyte then RORO again to Bohol. I also experienced Manila to Batangas port then RORO to Mindoro Island then RORO again to Aklan, Capiz and all the way to Iloilo then RORO to Negros Island then RORO again to Cebu

Been here going on 11 years, just renewed my 10 year license, consider Manila the gates of hell, drive approx. 300km a year here, but almost exclusively use pedal assist ebikes 6,000 km per year, I'm 69. Love biking past you guys in the cars!

Cuz, if you get in an accident, it's automatically YOUR FAULT and it doesn't matter who is at fault you will pay as if it were your fault! That's just how they operate in Asian countries! The bigger vehicle will always be at fault, initially. If you're drunk and you're the one who crashed into a bus or truck, the bus/truck driver goes to jail. If a drunk motorcycke rider crashes into your SUV, you go to jail. Initially.

But don't worry, "amicable settlement" is the usual practice here. Filipinos just usually demand for hospital or funeral bills, and vehicle damage, but they hardly demand for lost wages/salaries.

It's EASIER to drive in the Philippines because there are LESS RULES compared to Western countries. For as long as you don't bump another car, you're good. You can zigzag, unlike in the West. 😊

A Filipino driver cannot drive in Western countries without knowing the rules first, while Westerners like Zane can for as long as he doesn't bump another car. No rules means more freedom. 😊

Traffic rules in the Philippines were ignored most of the time. Most of the drivers got their license illegally. Corruption in LTO is very rampant throughout the country.
