He and Barry were so much alike. Even identical birthmarks. You should hear Barry singing Words when they were young and Andy singing Words at Reagan's Inauguration Dinner. The similarities are crazy. None of them could read music which makes them even more amazing. The first part of 1988 they announced Andy would be joining the BeeGees as a permanent member but Andy tragically passed away on March 10, 1988. Just 5 days after his 30th birthday. The World was heartbroken. I'm 60 and I still cry. Every song they wrote is as great as the one before it. Five decades and around 40 albums. Check out Barry's duets with Barbara Streisand. He wrote and produced her album Guilty. The video The making of the song Tragedy tells a lot about how they create their songs. Their folks discovered when they were 8 and 5 they could sing in perfect three part harmony. They started performing when they were 9 and 6. The BeeGees were established in 1958. Barry wrote that song. They were little criminals in England before they made a decision still as little kids to not steal another thing and follow their dreams. Barry said he was going to be a pop star then the twins asked if they could be one too.

I asked around recently and so many people didn't know the Bee Gees even had a career outside the disco era, let alone that they were active from 1958-2001. Their catalogue is a great cross-section of 4 decades of (really great) pop music -enjoy your dive!

Weren't they something?? That's a Barry -written song (He was writing since a pre-teen.) They fully supported their parents and baby brother Andy, sister Leslie, by this time. They were very poor, but grew up with very loving and supportive parents. FAMILY FIRST all their lives.

Robin was a real ham early on and always sought out the camera but he became withdrawn later, particularly after he was almost killed in a train crash when he was only 17. He had to pull out mangled and dying victims and assist in on the spot amputations to free trapped victims. Barry said he changed from a joyous, hilarious boy to a solemn and moody young man. He admitted himself the horror never left him all of his life. PTSD.

Story goes that 14 year old Barry told a girl who broke up with him that she would be sorry because they were going to be famous one day. In his later days when asked if he really believed it, he said yes. He knew. Thanks for doing these reactions. Their live performance of DON’T SAY GOODBYE shows them maturing, but still young, and WINE AND WOMEN is not to be missed!

This is Brian Henderson's Australian Bandstand channel 9 Sydney in 1964 , they had just moved to Sydney from Brisbane and lived at Maroubra beach whilst their parents sister and younger brother Andy lived in Sydney's outer suburbs .

There's the insoluble mystery of "is it a guitar or a pizzicato violin playing the hook?" but that's all this has going for it, Even if the Gibbs didn't sound so much like the voices of Alvin & The Chipmunks, this song sounds - horribly - like something out of 1954, not 1964. In fact recently a critic pointed to it as a painful example of "can you believe people were still doing that kind of thing in the '60s?!""
