Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. Cool that you know what a siren was/is. Kudos to you. However Diana is a goddess. She became a shamanic demi-goddess when she sang Rechenka aged 14 and was promoted to goddess with a full-on apotheosis when she sang and re-interpreted 'Wicked Game' at age 15. Everything she has done since, including 'Can't Help Falling in Love' just confirms her seat on Olympus.

Всё, что он здесь услышал и увидел, никаких ассоциаций с его прошлым музыкальным опытом не вызывает. Приходится обращаться к сиренам: часть этого мифа кое-что как будто объясняет. Главные характеристики сирен: "дикая стихийность" и "божественный голос" ("Мифы народов мира"). Голос, который завлекает, завораживает, очаровывает слушающего - и ему невозможно противостоять. Насчёт стихийности: в этом тоже кое-что есть. Прекрасно сознавая, что перед вами хорошо продуманное, превосходно отрепетированное представление, вы всё равно испытываете ощущение, что на ваших глазах происходит некое стихийное, порождённое самой природой, мощное и прекрасное событие. Для описания которого наш обычный словарь кажется бедноватым - и приходится обращаться к древней мифологии...

Wonderful reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired in the fall of 2021, and ran for 9 weeks. Diana was 18 at this time. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Diana is 15 years old in the following video, singing a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, giving it a more "tribal" sound. She's a contralto, even at the age of 15, has a unique and otherworldly voice, and a commanding stage presence. She is performing on the Russian TV show You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged children to display their talents that they otherwise would not be able to. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect.
