LOL, fun to watch these "youngins" reacting to music I played in the 80's as a DJ. And to top it all, this is the first time they ever hear it. Gees, I'm getting old.

One of the best new wave bands of the 80s. Way before their time. Pure genius!!

The drum beat is inspired by a Donna Summers song. The electric Bass is inspired by "For A Few Dollars More" - the Western. The "monk choir" is sampled from Kraftwerk. A thunderbolt is sampled and added. A voice box is used. Synths are playing third notes overtop the beat And this is 40 years ago - pre disco, so all of this has to come together using novel music machines. Some equipment had to be taken apart and reverse-engineered to work together. No computers. Thus, Blue Monday is also one of the 1st songs to "sample" other music - what would become standard practice of today's music. Still #1 selling 12" vinyl of all time

This is the best dance song ever written in my opinion. The dance floors were packed when this song came on back in the 80s.

If you weren't already on the dancefloor when this started, you were SOL.

Oh danced to this so many times when I was 22 in Melbourne Australia in 1983/84 and the dance floor would always be packed. This music and lots of alcohol, the best times!! Single with no responsibilities, so much fun!!

Yeah me too. I remember when this song came on - everybody got up dancing. I can't believe this is 40 years ago...

I stopped clubbing in Chicago in my mid 30s but occasionally would do a club night in London well into my 40s. Now, well, if we don't start before 7 and end by 11, it isn't happening...

This is the best selling 12 inch record of all time... basically it's dance records that were played in clubs with an extended length whereas radio singles are usually 3-4 minutes in length.

There doesn't seem to be any solid proof of this, but I could see how it would be! I've played the shit outta' my 12-inch!!

This is the best reaction video i've seen of this. I've known this song for 30 years but your facial expressions are exactly what I would hope from someone listening to this for the first time. WONDERFUL and joyful.

If you invented a machine that made 700 sounds and wrote a song using all of them, you’d get this. 😂 Crystal is one of my favorites of theirs.

New order was formed with gillian gilbert joining the group and is married to the drummer after lead singer Ian Curtis committed suicide the group where known as Joy Division. Love will tear us apart is a good one for reaction.

Check out True Faith. Also take a look at a song called Transmisson . Joy Division was a band that the members of New Order were earlier. Ian Curtis was the frontman/lead singer who sadly passed away in 1980 giving rise to this electronic incarnation of the future band. Joy Division were very Punk sounding.
