Paul was basically writing this song right from the early '80s newspaper articles. The bombings in Northern Ireland did use baby carriages. The famine in Africa. There was in fact an experimental surgery where they transplanted a baboon heart into a baby girl, Jessica if memory is correct. Being old enough to have seen these things, I love this song. Younger folks will probably think these are just abstract words.

Paul Simon's Graceland is one of those rare albums that unfortunately don't come along too often, one than you can put on and just walk away until it's over because there isn't a single song you want to skip over. Tell me I'm wrong.

@@fabjen1961 😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣 In my case it's ether one of my 3 younger sisters or one of my 3 nieces or 2 nephews. All I got to do is search one of their cars and I'll usually find it. I love to listen to it when I'm cleaning house or doing yard work, makes the time fly so when it disappears you can understand, right?

Paul occasionally writes lyrics in a staccato fashion syllabically like many rappers utilize. Great track

We - the ex and I - were fortunate enough to receive tickets to the Graceland tour stop in Toronto from a colleague of hers as a wedding present. Incredible album, great, great songs, inventive and highly complimentary instrumentation and performances by Ladysmith Black Mambazo and all the other South African musicians who contributed their unique and formidable talents to the record and shows. An unfailingly joyful and uplifting concert experience. One of the very best in my memory. Sure, do the album. Ya can't lose, you know that by now. Enjoy, brother, and thank you as always. 🙏🏽😊🤙🏼🎶❤️✨️🕊

This is a brilliant song from his Masterpiece "Graceland" I don't understand half of what he is talking about either, but so what, just listen and enjoy it - it sounds awesome. As you know, this was recorded during the troubles in South Africa, but I'm sure there were troubles elsewhere too, along with miraculous innovations. YES, please play the entire album, it's one of my favorites. There isn't a bad song on it.

When Paul Simon went to South Africa to work local musicians and talent to create Graceland the United Nations cultural boycott of South Africa was still in place and even though this work was a slap in the face of apartheid he caught a LOT of flack from a lot of different directions. I'd met a beautiful, brilliant, black librarian from Detroit who recently moved to Fairbanks AK who had the entire rare collection of Ladysmith Black Mambazo recordings and was outraged he bypassed the boycott and introduced them to the world like he was a great white savior. Just goes to show no good deed goes unpunished.

Graceland (in my opinion) is one of "those" albums - great from start to finish, full stop. Tapestry, Damn The Torpedoes, Rumours, everything Steely Dan... Of course plenty more but it wouldn't be a terribly long list. Graceland is one of those albums.

Hey Big man have to confess I'm not commenting on this reaction because I'm reacting to your Ten years after reaction from a few weeks ago, I've just caught up with it, as usual great reaction to one of my favourite bands, had the pleasure of seeing them God at least 9/10 times, every time absolutely amazing, Alvin Lee a very much overlooked English guitarist, up there with the very best, often regarded as the fastest guitarist about, I was bloody gutted when he died, a great loss to the music industry and fans alike, anyway to my request for a reaction from you my crazy American friend, the track is called Help me from the album version, not the video of it because there is one small part that is well just simply amazing,I've actually timed it at 13 seconds exactly and it's a sustained guitar note at approx 5 minutes 11 seconds, I don't think I've ever heard the likes or ever will, so I really hope you can react to it as I know you will bloody love like I do, anyway big man keep up the great work English Billy.

Baby with the baboon heart was a surgery that occurred in the 80’s. They tried to save a baby by using a baboon’s heart. It’s about how each era is the age of miracle of wonder. But there isn’t anything new. Listen to the myth of finger prints. Everything and everyone is the same. It’s perspective that’s different.
