China is a beautiful country. I am not Chinese but I can name many cities which are a must visit. Chongqing, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Xian, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Macau, Qingdao, Harbin, Wuhan, Lhasa, Xiamen, Dalian, Tianjin and many others that I keep forgetting the names.

You seem surprised that so few people speak English. just imagine if you are a Chinese person visiting New York City or Moscow, you wander about, and you go, "Wow! none of the people around me, even the shop vendors, speak Chinese!" That is what you are encountering. For a visitor to a foreign country, you seem spectacularly unprepared. You tried to take a cab and pay for it with cash. You actually got a room with a 5-star hotel!! How were you able to do this without using Ali-Pay or WeChat Pay? Amazing, haha. But despite all that, you seemed to have a good time. You were certainly impressed by the many LCD billboards, the wide variety of foods, and the endless shops. At the very least, you got a feel of what China's cities are like. China is a study in contrast. We have ultra modern cities, and at the same time there are endless sightseeing locations where China's history is preserved in amazing condition. You saw just the modern side, but that's okay. Just glad that you had a good time. I am amazed that you didn't just use the translation app on your smart phones. I mean, there are tons of easily available apps that will translate what you say into Chinese, and then the answer, in Chinese, will be translated back to you in English. Try that next time. It will make your visit much easier.

You don’t expect every where you go the locals speak English do you? China is not an English speaking country, unless you go to city like Hong Kong. They also speak English there because up until about 25 years ago, HK was a British colony! In fact these days a big part of the world is catching up. They start learning Chinese in schools to prepare for the future!

@@Ironfangzu Payments work in a very different way compared to Western countries that’s why I was struggling even to buy metro tickets as I’d never used neither Ali-Pay or WeChat. I was truly impressed by the astonishing amount of people on the streets at midnight. Even a big metropolis like London (where I live) is empty at that time in comparison. Anyway I had a great time and I hope to come back soon to explore more. I’ve barely scratched the surface. Thanks for watching!🇨🇳🤩🙏

Guangzhou is a city with 2000 years old and it is the food capital of China. Shenzhen is a city less than 50 years and it has the 2nd most skyscrappers in the world (no. 1 is hong kong). Shenzhen has a much better city planning than Guangzhou. China tier 1 cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
