It's very sad that even uber drivers are perpetuating the stigma of the black boogeyman. Black folks can't catch a break, they constantly have to be on the lookout, always looking to protect themselves against harmful stereotypes. It's sad and unfortunate.

People coming to U.S. usually see either N.Y. or L.A. and get the impression all of America is like these places. They don't really see how diverse the rest of the country is like the small towns. I met a German who thinks every place you go in the U.S. is too crowded but he has only been to N.Y. city.

Litterally? The cheapest shoes in Ukraine are $100 or more?!?! WOW!!! We buy our shoes at Walmart, which are usually $20. Sometimes, they have a sale and drop the price to $10 or $15. Most of the shoes last 2 to 3 years, if you wear them very often. That's alright. The lady at the liquor store is just doing her job the way she is suppose to. In America, the legal age to buy cigarettes and tobacco is 18+. The legal age for alcohol is 21+. If we sell you alcohol, tobacco, or cigarettes, and you are under the legal age, we both go to jail. We have to ask for your ID if you look younger than 40. Most places have to scan your ID on the register, too.

If you were told by your AirB&B hostess not to walk around in the area because black (specifically them) are criminals there, she may be right in that it may not be a safe area, but singling out a specific group of people is not really fair, especially if it's a predominantly black area, since all of them are not criminals, any more than all white Ukrainians are criminals back home. I'm Caucasian, by the way. I hope you have, or will, return some day, and will get outside a monstrous city like NYC. Did the view of NYC from the room high up give you visions of the Star Wars city/planet Coruscant?

They might have said it as a joke, new yorkers can have a 'unique' sense of humor.I lived there for a few years in the early 80's and couldnt wait to get out, and that was back then when NYC was a very dangerous place,it had more murders than many countries,its cleaned it self up now.As they say its a nice place to visit but you wouldnt want to live there.

Не хочу сильно критиковать, но с высоты своего опыта (12 лет в языке) и образования, которое получаю (будущий учитель английского), могу посоветовать только одно: Сема, учи фонетику! Если с вокабуляром у тебя все вроде хорошо, то вот произношение от идеала далековато: мягкие гласные звуки (они всегда твердые в английском), чисто русское произношение некоторых согласных, ну и интонации почти отсутствуют. А если и присутсвуют, то русские, а не английские (да, они действительно отличаются). В общем, такой неплохой рунглиш у тебя.) Писать на английском влоги сложно, потому что видно, что тебе тяжело, что языковой базы не хватает. Нужно продолжать заниматься английским) попытку оцениваю в 4 из 5, пробуй еще)
