@@tanelviil9149 Not necessarily. There's a ton of re-uploading and re-editing to avoid copyright flags for singular songs. Ultimately, the time/energy investment to pay-off rate has to be considered, and it depends on the nuance of each reactors overall channel goals.

This is a concept album about human fears such as nuclear warfare, hence the album name, some track names and the industrial sounds. Also, the man speaking in The Radiance is Robert Oppenheimer :)

And "Jornada del Muerto" is the location of the Trinity Site. During that song, Mike is saying in Japanese "Lift Me Up, Let Me Go" as is a repeated theme throughout the album. And in "Wisdom Justice And Love" that is a speech from MLK Jr. And also features Mario Savio in Wretches And Kings. Lots of references throughout the album.

I’ve always said A Thousand Suns is probably LP’s best album. It’s cool to see that sentiment growing as the years go on. There is such a beautiful yet haunting atmosphere throughout and the cohesiveness from song to song is unmatched in their discography IMO. Glad you finally caught it. Also, the rest of their albums are really solid. Even One More Light. Let’s keep this train going!

Minutes to Midnight was Linkin Park trying things. Exploring new sounds to see if they could pull them off. This album is those ideas fully realized. A perfect blend of their aggression, beautiful melodicism, all rolled into this conceptual package. Brilliant record.

Btw as others have already mentioned but this album is a conceptual album with an anti war anti nuclear proliferation message. Essentially telling the emotional story of human conflict leading to our inevitable destruction "burning inside the fires of a thousands suns" its personally my favorite Linkin Park album mostly for nostolgia but when i was 11 when this came out, it helped me start to think about the wider world around me and society and our role in the world. I credit chester and mike for inspiring my political worldview based on empathy and wanting to help others. Also fun fact idk if anyone told you this yet but the album cover is an editied photo from the US army. The photo depicts the first few nanoseconds after a nuclear bomb goes off. Its the first moment of the fireball. The photo was taken in the 1950s when america was doing testing on new type of nuclear weapons.

Thanks for the comment! I didn't know that about the cover art, it's interesting because I actually thought it was the abstract outline of a dove or something, the antithesis of a nuclear bomb blast.

This album was crucial to the development of Linkin Park's sound. A very controversial album at the time, and no matter where anyone lands on it, the experimentation on this album helps make a better, more creative Linkin Park. Mike learned a lot from this album and its foray into heavy electronics. This album also was a concept album, which added to the weirdness. A year ago when you did Minutes to Midnight, i mentiojed Oppenheimer was the perfect movie to watch before listening to this hahaha the album is mostly about nuclear extinction, about human self destruction.

Yeah, a lot of experimentation with the electronic side to their sound, they definitely embraced that on A Thousand Suns. You can really hear Mike's talent to strongly on this record. I still haven't seen Oppenheimer yet, I'll have to give it a watch.

@mollyesanborn yes, I look forward to you seeing how he blends what he learned with their more traditional sounds, and other new directions in the next two albums! First song right off the next album Living Things, you get why they went this way for this album and where they want to go. They never wanted to be boxed into one genre, and they always adhere to that even if they bring back some of their traditional sound here and there. Last year I was sorely missing Linkin Park and said so in my comment for MTM, and now they're back and it's just so great to see the evolution continue, even if the loss of Chester is felt 😢 I do want to mention that Mike Shinoda's solo album Post Traumatic, which covers the aftermath of Chester's passing, is also part of the evolution of the LP sound. It's mostly a rap/hip hop album, but Mike's singing and production carries on from there to new LP.

This album made me realise that LP can be so much more than Meteora or Hybrid Theory. They aced the concept album feel, the writing is powerful and rich, and some tracks are packed with tons of unadulterated, raw emotion (The Messenger, Waiting for the End)... Chester's vocals at the end of "Robot Boy" are otherworldly! That's probably my favourite vocal delivery by him on this album, together with The Messenger: the backing vocals at the end of the song, when he's shouting his lungs out (you mentioned the contrast between the intensity of his delivery and the more electronic tracks on top of it)... You mentioned that as well throughout The Messenger, when Chester sung "those angel voices"... He does pierce you I think Linkin Park has a metal side to them that will never go away and many fans will constantly expect it from them. However, they've proven time and time again that they're versatile enough and have way more to offer, which is a good thing in my opinion. Even though I don't really like One More Light, for example, that doesn't mean I disregard anything they put out after Meteora/Minutes to Midnight due to its lack of heaviness. A Thousand Suns is the perfect example of this. I understand how you might go into this album hoping for more "punchiness", as you said, because I felt like that back when this album came out and I wasn't digging it. Now I curse myself for taking too long to understand how much I actually like this album. Regarding your highlight tracks, I think we only match on The Catalyst: my other top picks have to be Waiting for the End, Robot Boy and The Messenger (and Requiem!). But I wouldn't be surprised if some of those tracks eventually grew on you as you keep listening to it. Wonderful album. I really, really like this one; I'd easily rank it among their top records. (Been a while since the last time I commented on one of your videos, Molly, but I've been watching and revisiting them all along! Keep them coming!) 😄

This entire album is pure ear candy. The album was never supposed to have singles. It's meant to be listened to front-to-back. This album is also structured like a clasical orchestra-style work, like the Faure' Requiem, or Handel's Messiah. The little 10-30 second tracks are supposed to tie each section together. The is an Introduction, Movements 1, 2, interlude, Movement 3, Finale, and Epilogue. Listen for the breaks.

YEEEEEEEESSSSSS, SHE LISTENED TO IT, THIS MY SECOND FAVORITE ALBUM BY THEM AND IS MY THIRD FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME, but some things to note is that this album is about Nuclear Warfare, which explains the political speeches like the Body's Upon The Gears speech by Ivo Rosario at the start and ending of Wretches And Kings, A Time To Break Silence speech by MLK in Wisdom, Justice, and Love, and of course, at the beginning of the album, Mr. Oppenheimer. This album was produced in 2 years, with them recording 8 months. Something that you did notice that was cool was the constant cycle of hope and despair with the album. Now I'm waiting for LIVING THINGS

I agree that Fallout is gloomy in sound and those reemerging lyrics of loss. But I think it's interesting how it's also a return to humanity. Wisdom Justice and Love saw MLK (a figure of pure love, revolution and hope) fade into a robotic artificial husk. Then after the gorgeous ascension that is Iridescent, Fallout takes robotic Mike and fades him back into the Mike we know. I have my own thoughts on what it means, but I'd love to get a different take on what it could mean. Ultimately, this is my all time favorite album and I've been hype since you first began the LP journey to finally experience it. When I was young, this taught me who Mario Savio and Oppenhemier were and introduced me to MLK's greatest speech imo. They reached for the stars and I believe they nailed it. They would never go this experimental again (spoiler alert) and I'm glad they stopped here. It's perfect to my subjective taste. The Dark Side of the Moon for the 21st century.

Really like this album. After the mediocre gray of Minutes to Midnight it was something really fresh and new. To me, A Thousand Suns is the album where Linkin Park found the perfect sound for themselves. You can feel how comfortable they are with it. But because the album was received mostly negatively they didn't develop this sound further and it's really sad.

I don't think thats correct, they did develop this sound, linkin park has always been a kind of a 'jack of all trades' when it comes to styles and sounds. The Album was OK! It does have some tracks that I like. The Catalyst, waiting for the end, and When it comes to me. The question that I have now, is which album do you like the most? It was a tough decision, but I went with Meteora. That album also got me through a bad break up, as well as some other personal stuff. Trust me I wanted to pick Hybrid Theory, but Meteora improved on everything from Hybrid Theory. Also, the new album comes out November 15th and I am nervous about listening to the album with Emily Armstrong as the lead singer. Though I will give her a chance.

Always loved Linkin Park. Got introduced to them with the first album ouy the gate and when i was younger Minutes to midnight didnt work for me but going back growing up i love all their albums but this one...idk. opposite to some who said they just cant, didnt work. It just hit me like oh this is the type of music specifically i like. Even more than what i thought i liked. Tribal drums electronic beat type shit lol

may i request for you to review to probably my favourite album; unleash the archers - apex it's a power metal concept album with female fronted lead.. i recommend to go in it blind before you look up the overarching story of the album so you can speculate and have your own interpretation of what's the album is about.. it's definitely a fun listen so hope you enjoy it as much as i do..👍🏻

everyone's most hated album that became in time everyone's favourite album. And I would say that they are not even a rock band on this one (nevermind a metal band). But that's just the beauty of linkin park

"Are they even a metal band at this point?" I feel like they intentionally receded from metal in Minutes to Midnight, people criticized it for not being metal enough, and Mike's like "Good. Here's another Linkin Park album. Stop putting us in a box."

Linkin Park has no genre, they are known as nu metal because their first 2 albums are nu metal and those are the most successful, but really after those albums the following ones are a box of surprises, you can get metal, experimental rock, pop, electronic or all at the same time, they are just Linkin Park The next album is LIVING THINGS, but I'd really like you to listen the one after that, The Hunting Party, it's my favorite LP album and it's even heavier than Hybrid Theory and Meteora, but sadly it's also the most unknown and skipped, it's definitely a hidden gem

It's a really well put together album but I think it was a bit of a pisstake to wait 3 years for this, and several years afterwards, for some proper songs. This album has like 3 listenable tracks on it. It works well when listened from the start to the end but I don't think I've ever listened to an song from this album since hearing the whole album. And when you're a leading, highly anticipated band, and your last album was a really big tone change from your first two that catapulted you to the top, I can 100% see why this album was disliked when it came out. From here Linkin Park totally loses all similarity to other music genres, and become their own LP sound, which is cool but I like Metal a lot more than Pop/Electronica, so I tend to stick with just the first two albums and their demos.

Linkin Park's music genre is Linkin Park Linkin Park is not Nu metal, pop, hip hop or rock. They created their own genre, namely the Linkin Park Genre. Even though they have different musical styles, they still have their own characteristics, that's why I love this band.

After minutes to midnight I stopped being a fan (I was young so I wanted my metal) Many many years later I gave Linkin Park albums another chance (the ones after this album) I kinda like them BUT this album I just can't. Nowadays I listen to all kind of music but this album just doesn't make it for me I love the live version of the catalyst tho

It is not my favorite Linkin Park album out of the first four I've heard, but certainly some beautiful moments on this record. They took things in a very polished, less punchy direction. I'll have to check out that live version of The Catalyst!
