Fun facts: Kill Rock n' Roll is about a true story where Daron was driving home one night and it was really dark, and accidentally killed a rabbit, so he felt really bad about it and wrote the song. Holy mountains is about how the Ottoman turks committed the Armenian genocide, and took our mountains Masis and Ararat, 1.5 million Armenians we're massacred, I am personally Armenian and means alot Great reviews love them all! Keep it up Molly!

Thank you for the song explanations! This is what I love about System Of A Down: an ode to a dead bunny rabbit and then later on a song addressing something as serious as a mass genocide. That really fits with the sound dynamic on this album too, how some tracks have a playful sound while others take on a more serious tone. I love how they go back and fourth on that.

If you really like SOAD and will still listen to them in your free time I'd recommend listening to their live performances from 2002-5. From my experience - at first they may sound a little bit repulsive but after a few times they just feel like different songs. And the vocals sometimes are even better than studio. What Id also recommend is listening to their covers like snowblind or out of albums songs like metro. You could also check on darons solo career - scars on broadway. It maintained the SOAD soul. And to finish my enumeration there are still 2 more "main" songs to listen to - their newest songs from protect the land released in 2020. A little observation: they put the same grunt at the end of both Kill Rock n' Roll and Cigaro. I was in High School when this album came out and imagine one of your first rock experiences ever to be Mesmerize and Hypnotize lol my friends had been converting me from rap/hip-hop to rock, and they started me off with Linkin Park which I really enjoyed, then moved me up to Mesmerize and Hypnotize, which was insanity to me lol But the fact that these albums were so melodic, even jazzy in some, made the transition easy. Specially with how wacky some of these songs were. I knew they were something special, despite me being new to rock. If you want more Serj and Daron, I'd recommend listening to their solo albums. The obvious bummer here being that we can't get more duet songs of their two voices, but they each have 2 solid albums. Serj has seeveral i believe, but I think his first two are the ones worth listening to, "Elect the Dead" and "Harakiri". Daron made his solo band Scars on Broadway which is a self titled album. Then more recently he kind of rebranded it to Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway, with an album from a few years ago called Dictator.

Another band you should check out is Gentle giant they are also out of this world. Progressive, wacky, serious, very very interesting. I think it is a band you will like and I would love to see a reaction of the octopus album. A sound nobody can replicate, the music's a challenge.

These SOAD reviews are what got me into your channel, awesome content! I imagine you have a long list of things to review, but I think you would enjoy listening to Queen's records with the same attention and appreciation that you have in your reviews. I'd love to see you review some of their albums!

Glad that you've been digging the System Of A Down videos. I'm kinda sad that my journey through their main discography is over now, but man I loved exploring their music. A truly fantastic band! I'll definitely have to check more from Queen out, I've heard some music from them but certainly have a lot more to discover :)

It was cool seeing you at the show last night! Check out Caskets’ Lost Souls album if you haven’t had the chance yet…and I’d love to see an APC Mer de Noms album reaction someday. Keep going to Metal Shows! See you around.

Shaun!!! (hopefully I'm spelling your name right) I'll always remember you're my first in real life viewer to recognize me, haha. Caskets was really amazing, you were right about their drummer. He's a beast. I've been listening to some of their tracks since the concert, I'll have to give all of Lost Souls a listen. And I'm hoping to get to 10,000 Days by Tool soon, once I've completed Tool I'll get to A Perfect Circle. You've made me very excited to hear Mer de Noms! I'm sure I'll see you at a future show, thanks for checking out the channel :)

I love! can you react to "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" please? the 2 new musics of System Of A Down at the end of 2020 (after 15 years without releasing new musics) the two musics were made by the band to denounce Turkey and Azerbaijan in the Artsakh Republic war at the end of 2020, 2 absolutely breathtaking musics!

@@mollyesanborn with pleasure, all the members of the band are Armenians so it was extremely upsetting for them, so they used the music as a weapon against these monsters. I myself have Armenian origins so I'm super proud of it, that's why System Of A Down is my favorite band since I know them! moreover Serj Tankian did his solo journey, as well as Daron Malakian with his group "Scars On Broadway", absolutely fabulous! :)

Dreaming is easily my favourite song on this album, Holy Mountains is a close second with the context of the Armenian Genocide and how haunting it is. Now that you're done the SOAD albums, Elect the Dead by Serj is a great album to check. Still heavy but has a lot more piano and experimental themes. There's also the System Of A Down: Realise (EP), a fan made EP recreating two cancelled SOAD songs

I really loved every single one of your reactions to the albums of my favorite band and the one I started in the rock/metal world when I was a kid, really thank you very much and I'm so glad you liked the albums, it would be great if you could also react to their last 2 songs after so many years without making another album (And which is almost impossible to come out), the songs are "They Protect the land and Genocidal Humanoidz" were made to support the problems faced by the Armenian people recently, it is not an album but those two songs brought a lot of hope for the Armenians and for the fans that we had many years waiting, greetings and best wishes Molly, I will continue to enjoy your reactions Edit: You should check the solo album's from Serj and the second band that formed Daron and John (the drummer) called Scars on Broadway!

(I really recommend the live version of Lie, lie, lie, lie and the songs Empty Walls, Saving us and Sky is Over!) Also there are 2 more songs by SOAD released in 2020 (Protect the Land and Genocidal humanoids)- to raise awareness and funds for a war in Armenia!

Been waiting for this one! Hypnotize is my favourite song from this Album. Lonely day is a great one too. Vicinity of Obscenity is *interesting*, for lack of a better description. Looking at your DVDs, I like that you have The Core right next to Interstellar - definitely on opposite ends of the 'realism' scale for sci-fi. Also, physical copies of PC games? very old-school!
@mollyesanborn2 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? The Core is one of the most scientifically realistic films ever made (sarcasm, haha). And good eye, you noticed the PC games. Those are so old. Funnily enough I don't even have a PC anymore to play them on XD
