Yeah, me thinks twas the cart in the final - there's a reason why that "spare" machine wasn't already out on track! I remember doing some indoor carting many years back with a group of work colleagues, and just killing it up front with a few other guys, feeling like a hero. Then half way through they got us all to swap carts, person in last cart got the first cart etc. Im thinking, why the heck are we doing this? Ohhhh... Didnt feel so heroic after that with major vibrations, squashy brakes and limited top end. lol.

I kind of like it. I think while it does disrupt the old flow I feel like it adds a bit of depth and forces you to pay more attention to your exit. However, I wonder how it will affect overtaking opportunities.

Steve may have lost some karting fitness but definitely no karting race-craft! A shame about the kart change going wrong in the end but that's rental kart racing, we've all been there. 😅 The heats were pretty damn good though. 👍 Also really nice of them to give out points if the DNF wasn't your fault.

Reminds me of years ago at m4karting My kart had horrendous acceleration and there was a lot of curvy slow down sections. Could keep it flat and pull away on the straights and long sweeping sections and not braking, but come to the small technical section you wonder if it was quicker to get out and push

They did the same exact thing as last corner at Barcelona: fast flowing couple of corners into final straight -> slow chicane into out-of-flow last corner

My 100+KG was slow at Karun's Karting Carnival a few years ago. But even I know the last two turns worked and this won't slow down T1/T2 where the actual accidents were

The new layout bend your chassis in owner driver since the fastest way is to smash it, like middle of the seat over the kerb levels of smash it. End of the day your chassis is almost a centimetre out.

I’m a regular at Whilton mill and in the regular bireal karts you can actually overtake into that chicane.. all be it if the person your overtaking is slow, but if someone try’s to do it with you, you can defend it without there being a massive crash lol. But I have said to people there use the original layout for karts that are not going to be damaged like pro karts or alternatively, remove the rumble strip on the exit and maybe make it normal run off/ extend the track width ways. Additionally they could lower the big massive send you to narnia inside kerb on last corner. The only reason they had to put the chicane in is because motorsport uk told them too because of complaints of the rubble strip or their license would be taken…….

I did a BUKC test at whilton in the wet the other week and i agree that the chicane kinda ruins the flow but it isnt the worst retrofitted chicane in the world. The extra grip of the new tarmac was very nice as well

I feel a lot of envy, I wish we had this kind of karts in Spain. There are a lot of competitions in the Sodi’s, but they are much slower. The chain inchident was very unfortunate, and the last tractor you drove… well, you couldn’t do too much there, could you? Sorry for you, mate. Honestly the new corner is rubbish. I went along to a Club 73 Race recently. (Very out of practice..) embarrassingly beached myself on Christmas corner in the wet. But came away not enjoying the new layout very much unfortunately! Good to see more Karting clips back on the channel Steve!

New layout, tried it, didn’t like it. Did some C100 on the old layout then I did a round of WMKC this year on the new one, just didn’t flow right, sent the kart all over the place and just ruined the track a small bit for me. It's always funny to me when drivers complain about track layouts. Did you ever think that certain parts of the track are DESIGNED TO ANNOY YOU? The point is to take you off your game, not make you comfortable. If you want a comfortable track layout, drag race on a miles long salt flat with no turning or braking. Otherwise, race the track.

Adding slower corners usually ruins tracks, Larkhalls new infield addition is aweful as well as its extension down the bottom. Crail's infield addition instead of its massive long radious left.
