My FIRST time REACTION to REN Ft. Kit - Slaughter House!!! WOW just WOW

Hey, historian here, maybe just a quick explanation for the greek terms in the begining: In Greek Mythology you end up in the underworld (Hades) after you die. However the underworld is split into multiple parts, which are being referenced by the Video. Firstly there's Elysium (latin writing)/ Elysion (greek writing): This is where you wanna go, this is the place to be. All the legendary heroes go here and its basically just a endless big party. Secondly there's Tartaros (greek writing)/ Tartarus (latin writing): This is where you definitly DONT want to go. All the really baaaaad people go here, eternal punishment and torture and all that fun stuff. Maybe it is worth mentioning, that the greek afterlife didnt just know "good ending" and "bad ending". Those were only for exceptionally good or bad people, most just got the third option: Asphodel. Not good not bad just an endless open field where your soul can chill for all eternity, think of it as neutral ending. However it doesnt get mentioned in the Video Lastly Gaia is mentioned which ,as correctly pointed out, means "(mother) earth". Words that contain "Geo" like Geography or Geology are derived from Gaia. So if you wanted to interpret it in a christian sense you could put it as Heaven, Hell and Earth, which thematically resonates quite well with the overall theme. Maybe I could shine some light on the meaning, or at least give my own 2 cents :D

Asphodel is argued over being a meadow or being a field of ash. When you marry into it Christian themes, there's two different theories, one being from before purgatory was removed from Canon, being that to some purgatory was life. There's some schools of thought that posit hell is life on earth as hell is defined as a separation from God. Therefore, Gaia and Asphodel are arguably interchangeable when you're mixing belief systems.

For those the didn't see it, Ren's twitch stream was telling because you could see he's not where he was. Listening to Ren get excited because he can finally eat rice, and that means rice cakes (think about that... excited for rice cakes), so he can have snacks when he travels and seeing him struggle to accept that he may never be able to tour, because his health may never allow it... heart-wrenching.

Been there lived that rigid restricted liquid diet and a handful of foods and herbs. I used to tell people that it was easier to list what I COULD eat. I’m lucky. My autoimmune doc knew I’m allergic to steroids, his advice was to try tiny amounts of new foods and “just see what happens.” It sucked. Ten years later and I’ve added many things that I thought I’d never eat again. It’s not perfect, but what docs know about autoimmune diseases is as vast as the universe. Worse, every single patient is different. I hope with all of my being that Ren gets to experience a treatment that works for his body. He will. I’m old. Ren did all of everything from scratch himself on this album - no more Kujo issues, once bitten etc. The video was done by a production company in Canada, and it was shot in April or May of this year, so the hell that he's talking about isn't about his recent relapse. In the early scene where Ren is tied down, is when he was accidentally stabbed in the eye by a a pair of rusty forceps, resulting in him being rushed to A&E and nearly going blind in that eye. Ren explains on Twitch how he pushed on filming for another hour in extreme pain with that eye streaming. He explained that if you look carefully at the 'holding his decapitated head scene' you can see on the decapitated head his swollen streaming eye. The man is a legend.

I suggest people read up on the Dark Night of the Soul. It's common when you go through a turning point in your life. Something happens in your life that has you so crushed that your soul begs to have a change essentially. So you go through the DNOTS. Everything about your current life gets reexamined and you see where things need to change (think of it as the whole mid life crisis) its a state of ego death, soul rebirth, and finding true honest happiness. Finding happiness within yourself and what is around you. This is often times when some get into religion or spirituality because the Dark Night is a very spiritual process.

My little boy died in a ridiculous accident 3 years ago this month. I became totally lost. I couldn't figure out who I was or if I was even real. I thought I was hallucinating it or was still in the hospital. (I'd just come home from the ICU after being intubated and comatose.) I went through a period of hating God, myself, and everyone else. The last image, it's Okja, from the Korean movie some years back. Okja is a genetically modified pig. It's a powerful film, it's quite a statement for him to use it. Essentially, it's still a "pig." To get the full effect, you need to watch the movie and not just read a synopsis. I also just realized it's a movie where a young girl tries to save Okja from the slaughterhouse, so I'm 100% sure that is Okja.

This song (among others like massochist and crutch) is his interpretation of going through what is known as dark night of the soul. This one is now a more personal version of massochist. He first gave us what to do (distroy everything that doesn't bring you to your authentic self) and now this is a visual representation of him doing just that. I am confident that the next album is him rebuilding himself into what HE wants. I cannot wait til the end of the album cause it's only going to get much better as he rebuilds himself from the trauma he went through. Now that he's on a much better path (yes, with hardships, which is to be expected, he is still better than before.) I strongly believe he will show us him rebuilding himself with the improvement of his health and the love from his friends family and renegades! Sick boi was when he was in the thick of his medical hardships (mid chapters time) now he out out of that nightmare and into a much better place so I feel this album will show that.

Knox says there will be more of her on the album :) It's insane that the guy can be as ripped as he is and still be damn near critically ill. The logo at the end is the Slaughter House album logo. I thought I understood pain until my car accident injury. I tried to function without help but decided if I had to live with that level of permanent pain I didn't want to. Thankfully I was able to get enough meds that destroyed my career but I'm alive and somewhat functional. I've experienced my personal 10 out of 10 pain, and I still can't even begin to imagine what this man lives with.

Perfectly said. There are days when outwardly I go through the motions, but the message in my head is on a continuous loop. I’m so exhausted and refuse to be a burden. I told my SO recently that I cannot recall ever not being in pain. There are simply different levels of pain. We’ve been married for 30 years, and that piece of information seemed to stun him. I’m an expert at appearing normal … tho I crash for days after any stress event happens that’s off my typical routine. I’m just glad I’m old and the road ahead is shorter than it is long. Sigh. ☮️

Lyme's disease is nasty. Both sister and brother-in-law have it. I saw Ren's video talking about his struggles and it flaring up again. I've seen how painful and debilitating it can be let alone how expensive to treat. I wish him the best in dealing with this.
