It is interesting how you can grow dahlias starting outside! I grow a lot of dahlias for my clients. We start them inside under halogens in February and the ones I winter are huge! Checking out your channel for the third time today from Alaska.

Thanks for everything Linda... I get *so* much from your videos and I loved this one. I am totally on the Dahlia train! I am a total novice but I really have some things I decided to try this year that are doing well! This helped so much as I now know I need to start pinching. My dahlias have some wonderful growth and are now right about 12-14". Also, thanks for telling me about Brecks. They are fabulous and I am filling a cart over there right now.

Oh Linda, where do you find that fabulous metal frame in the pot around the tree. I need some of those. I plant my dahlias in pots. They always die in my garden. Thanks for the inspiration.

I hit the Like button before I even watched, i love everything Dahlias! 🥰Now I am on the search for some good supports. Great tip about weight, my labyrinth dahlia tipped over in a wind storm 💔, breaking itself & my beautiful pot. I now put a heavy paving brick in the bottom.

Good morning from Illinois Always waiting with anticipation as to what you will be doing in your garden. Beautiful video & so well informed. However it is always the way you present everything you do. Thank you for that as a person that is always eager to try new things in my garden. you do

Here in the Pacific Northwest I’m keeping my sprouting tubers surrounded by Sluggo. I have well-fed slugs in my garden and don’t want my dahlias to be dessert!

My comment is not about dahlias but about your baskets from QVC which I do see in the background of your video (with the geranium in it). I've only received one so far but I cannot tell you how it exceeded my expectations!!! I got the natural color and I expected it to be "plasticy" because of being weather and water resistant but not at all. You would swear it's wicker, softer and so realistic. I absolutely love it and can't wait to get the others, I ordered 3 total in different sizes. Now I need those trellises!!! I'm thinking of the holidays and gifts and possibly planting a real spruce in the large size basket. If anyone wasn't sure about ordering one, I highly recommend, they are gorgeous.

Thank you for such a perfect and detailed video! I think I will try some dahlias in a huge beautiful pot I have in my yard this year. My mom started feeding squirrels peanuts last year and I guess because they liked the area they had babies & they are eating all 4 of my beautiful strawberries I had growing in that pot for years.. I think I will transplant them into a more protected pot covered in some chicken wire and fencing.

Love Dahlias. Very showy. I have 100% success with starting in pots & moving to the ground. 0 % success with starting in ground, for whatever reason. Now you’ve got me rethinking where I put them this year. Either need to move them or have something very close by casting some shade. Hmmmm

Very educational..I have a hard time telling which way the roots have to go?I know,I know.🤣but I wished it would show it on the packaging. Some bulbs or tubers are just strings?Lol ..It does not show where the eye is???OR I cannot tell.

I tried the vinegar weed killer. Worked fast. Only problem was the salt the bottle says to add clogged my smaller sprayer. I had to switch to my professional sprayer. Next time I will dissolve the salt in warmer water and then add it to the sprayer.

I left out the salt completely and it worked great!

Hi Linda how do your seasons work? Here in New Zealand we have 4 seasons roughly 3 months long -give or take - so June is the start of winter. I always count 6 months on for anything you do in your garden (or any northern hemisphere garden) but thats perhaps not right compared to Oklahoma- I’d have my dahlias in the garden by October with a bit of frost protection and they would be well sprouted by then.
