A small explanation..(just a popular fan theory which makes a lot of sense) .....a lot of people get confused as to why taki didn't write his name on her hand and wrote I LOVE YOU when he had time...but it actually happaned because he knew that the name will get erased just how the memos got erased earlier...because time tries to correct itself but the word "i love you" according to japanese lore is said to be protected by moon god and hence wouldn't get erased that's why he chose to write i love you coz then she'd atleast know that it's something important even though she doesn't remember him...

If you watch it again, I strongly suggest that you check out the subtitled version, rather than the dubbed version. The feel of the movie is just different.

@@wrob08Well if your including the OST in the dub/sub than yes, it's exactly that. I just prefer the original language... if just flowers better. You can translate the words but still have to harmonize/fit it with a melodie that was originally written in a very different language. So I personally like the Japanese version better than the English one. It just sounds more natural... unforced. Even if it is by the same band.

I love this movie. Makoto Shinkai's work frequently plays with love, longing, loss, and distance, but I think this is his best work so far. The happy ending certainly helps. The story reminds me a lot of short story by Haruki Murakami called "On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning"

If you liked this, the director Makoto Shinkai has two other similar anime movies out: the 2019 _Weathering with You_ and the 2022 _Suzumi_ . I haven't seen the latter, but _Weathering with You_ has much of the same beauty and magic as _Your Name_ and I would love it if you would react to it.

Nice to meet you. I'm a Japanese person who loves anime. I used the translation function to watch it. Thank you for being moved by this Japanese anime. I also have another Japanese anime I'd like to recommend. It's "Violet Evergarden." It's a masterpiece. The story, background music, and visuals are all wonderful. I think it will be even more moving. If you haven't seen it yet, I definitely recommend that you do. If possible, I'd be grateful if you could make a reaction video.

Love this movie but it's 1000 times better in sub (as you're also used to sub with kdramas) trust me they even change the dialogues sometimes in dub Also you can a silent voice on many other sites if it's not available on the official sites

I loveee this movie! If you're into watching other Anime movies, I recommend another one that's emotional and more "realistic" called Koe no Katachi (A Silent Voice). Just watch it blind, it's GORGEOUS. Ps: about the renting problem, I'd watch it using any "alternative" way and when it becomes avaible again for purchase I'd get it later)

The first watch when I realized 17 year old Mitsuha was going to find him on the train in Tokyo i was like...oh, this is gonna sting! Mikoto Shinkai brings all the feels. All of them. The reason they forget is that they both crossed the water the second time. Taki physically to plead with Musubi and drink the sake, then Mitsuha when the last swap happens. That's why katawari-doki lets them see each other. They're still crossed over. Forgetting each other when they detach from the underworld is Musubi collecting his toll of what's most important to them--their knowledge of each other.

Something like that. There are two old craters that we see (the lake and the shrine's), so the comet has been doing this for a while. And somehow knowledge got passed to the Miyamizu line of women ... and then lost in that fire.

Even with animated movies, ppl should watch the subtitled version. Because the original voice actors work with the movie makers, only they can produce the performances true to the intent of the creators. There are very rare cases, in which an animated movie becomes so popular, that extra effort and money are used to make the dubs good. But in most cases, you just lose too much in the dubbing.
