My First Tractor! Abandon 1949 Allis Chalmers WD Revival With a WD-9 Front End Loader

This was a long video yall! If you like the longer format let me know! I edited lots and lots of footage out to save time. There was over 250 gigs and well over 5 hours of footage. The old 1949 Allis Chalmers WD put up a fight but in the end we got it up and running enough to drive it around and even use the trip bucket. Anyhow this was a hard fought victory that is far from over. Huge Thank you to my Dad for helping out lots with this revival.

Wow! What a great video! I just kinda stumbelded here. My first tractor to drive was a WD. about 45 years ago. Everybody in my area in Missouri during the 80's was either Ford or AC. It was really cool to see you logically and patiently, work things outand fix things one step at a time. The more you use this old girl the better she will perform. They are cold natured so, give it a while to warm up even when its hot outside. Really surprised me that the hydrolics worked as well as they did. None of the old WD's in my hood had a loader, that was just too fancy. (Truth is we used the WD's but still actually used 70's tractors in the 80's with loaders) The neigbors still used their WD for plowing, because thats what the plow fit. Their plow was a snap hitch plow so they didn't have a choice unless they wanted to buy a new plow.. The mag upgrade is what everybody did with their WD. I noticed that it just sounds better and better as the video progresses. Your bringing old Iron back to life, I remember that same tractor with its front wheels in the air pulling a plow. I thought that was dangerous but, the owner said "It's not even breaking a sweat till the front wheels come up. The hand clutch allows you to leave the PTO running when you decide to change gears or go in reverse. or just sit ther while the pto turns, usually used for brush hogging or haybailing. very handy. Thank you for being 23 and still working on this old stuff, Def get some new plugs, I really enjoyed this video. YES I subscribed. Shout out to your Dad! BTW if your brakes work.. you have the worlds only WD the that the brakes work well! And dare I say.. FIRST COMMENT!

Thanks for subscribing! Also thanks for the info on the hand clutch. Glad it does a lot more than I realized haha. Super cool that people still use these old tractors today, Nothing like em!

Keep after it. Your back fire issue may be a timing issue. Try loosening the mag/ distributor and turn it slightly with it running till it smooths out.

Yeah I ended up having to retime the magneto and that seemed to have fixed that awful misfire.

You don't need a battery with a magneto. Battery just for starting. Work on charging later. Manifold cracked it won't run right because it's sucking air on intake side.
