Hello Nyangwe, In answer to your question on why Bermuda's Rooftops are white. My husband and I really Love Bermuda. We do not live on the island but have traveled there several times, and we asked the same question once of the local Bus driver. The homes are painted white to reflect the ultra violet light from the sun, which helps purify the water. The rain falls on the roof, travels through the slates, down to a catchment at the lowest edge of the roof. Then goes through a gutter, into a downspout that empties it into an underground storage tank where it is stored and used as the water supply for that home. Every home and building uses this same system. I hope this was helpful. We Love exploring Bermuda, as they say in Bermuda - It is Bermudaful! Enjoy your new home.

🇯🇲🇯🇲Nyangwe, glad to see you’ve arrived and happy with your pursuit and surrounding so far. The white roof I think is to reflect the sunlight and so obsorb less heat causing the buildings to be cooler. I’m somewhat familiar with the exorbitant cost of living from the lips of someone who use to live and work in that beauty of an isle. Money is there to be made but it cancels out with the price of daily living. Almost all consumer products are imported. Bermuda derives majority of its income from tourism and services (hospitality, banking and “corporate headquarters”). It’s considered a “ tax heaven” where the rich hide their money to avoid heavy taxation in their resident country or of business. The same is true of many shipping lines that “ fly the Bermuda flag “ and list that island as their corporate headquarters. Nyangwe, get your experience, make your contacts and build your network to move on to a country where you can spend less and save more.

Nyangwe, you were asking why the roofs are mostly white, and that is because it reflects the heat and reduces cooling cost. In the same breath, I ask why all the roofing sheets I have seen so far in Kenya are painted black. Wouldn't lighter colors be better for the tropical climate?

😄 that’s insightful! I think for Kenya, heat is not that a big problem except in the coastal area (Mombasa). Most people use plain, shiny iron sheets for roofing (these are the cheapest). The blue, black, red, etc are premium roofing iron sheets.

From here in South Carolina you're only about 3 hours away by airplane. Of course I don't have a passport so I'm just dreaming. 😊 I wouldn't film people either in my first week of arrival there. When I last visited Bermuda Nyanguey.. I spent the day at Horseshoe Bay Beach. It's pink sand is beautiful YOU HAVE TO GO AND SPEND A DAY. YOU'LL LOVE IT!!! There is also a light house loads of things for you .... Also, I was told the reason the roofs in Bermuda is that way is to catch the rain. The smallest draw bridge in the world is also there❤❤❤❤ you're gonna have so much fun there.. I wish you nothing but success with your career and personal life! For some reason you come across as APLUS!!!! HAVE A GREAT WEEK AHEAD
