Thank you for sharing. I'm not at the point of searching for an agent, but I do feel a little crazy when trying to juggle my life with writing. Seeing your process makes me feel a lot better, because I feel less alone in my journey!! There are days i feel less creative than others, days that feel so amazing and then others where I feel like I suck so much. But at the end of it, I love doing it so much, I don't care if I suck haha... I'll be buying your book when it's published and becomes a best seller. *Putting the good juju out there!*

I'm sorry but "tape-estry" made me giggle. Anyhow it's cool to hear what you did in August and how you strategized (and then re-strategized) to get the work where you needed. August was so baking and humid across the board. Not ideal conditions for the editing long haul, so your frustration toward the end is what I expected. "So much stuff happening = can't create" is all too common for me, and Murphy's Law, it starts right when I'm in the thick of the more exciting projects. Your California friends bring such a fun side out of you, and it was nice meeting Lugnuts.

I totally get what you mean about forgetting what's happened in which version of your story and making edits based on incorrect mental information. A couple weeks ago, I went through all of the chapters that I posted thus far for my current project, and uhhh....I've uhhh....forgotten some things and had a few plot holes that I had to fix because of that. I think about (if you'll excuse my weeby references for a moment) these old "Araki forgets" and "Toriyama forgets" memes, and I'm like...wait a minute, I'm Pagliacci. (And idk why this is, because I'm normally known for having a very strong memory, but when it comes to what I write... 😬😬😬) Also relate to your comments about reading a fully polished book and having that affect your editing process in a negative way. In my case, I'm (very, veeeeeeeeeery) slowly reading through the Green Bone Saga books. And although it's not exactly the same as my current project (heck, mine's not even written in novel format), it's similar enough in some ways that I'm like...dang. I'm really out here posting my Walmart brand version of this, huh?😔😔😔But I suppose I have no choice but to keep moving on. That's all we can do really. (Also congrats on finishing your edits). (Also, also loving how your solution to handling the effects of your little hot wings challenge was to plank. That was too funny. Haha)

Wow! You did all that in a month! I’m so impressed! I’m really glad you asked for an extension because that is self care and you can turn in better work. I know what you mean about not being proud of your work, but I think you should be! Even not looking at/reading published books and just beta reading for author friends, I’m just in awe with how some of them write and find myself wishing I could write like them. But you know what they say about comparison! 😬 Love the kitties! Hope your dog is okay, too. Did Monty miss you? 😻 I’m glad you had a fun road trip with your friends! And Chicago, too! I hope your partner is feeling better! Thank you for masking! I hope you’re still COVID free! 🥰 It’s so fun that you included your road trip! I really have wanted to take a road trip with one of my besties (she lives in NorCal, so she would have to come down here and get me first and I can’t drive). But I haven’t felt safe enough to do it yet. Ridiculous ongoing pandemic! 😭 Can’t wait for your book to get snapped up by an amazing editor, so I can maybe (pretty please) sensitivity read your beautiful words in all their shiny glory! Good luck! You got this!! Rooting for you! 🫶🎉

I didn't even know you could ask for extensions as a trad author. I seriously thought that if you couldn't do it by a certain date they pull your book out, and leave you in the dust. I guess it must depend on the agent/publisher but thanks for letting us know that that's a thing.

I’m very interested in your writing process. You mentioned having a 4th act it made me wonder how you structure your stories (since you obviously don’t use the three act structure). I didn’t see a video on structure on your channel
@lynndjung2 ай бұрын
I approach structure a bit differently each time! This particular book utilized 5 act structure because I wanted to place equal emphasis on the main character's rise and fall. I would love to do a video about structure in the future, but I also tend to write and plan stories intuitively so I haven't quite figured out how to approach the topic yet!

When you only gave yourself an extra week extension I was like noooooo! 😂 Projecting but I always regret when I request an extension and then still have to stress to meet the new one and probably it would have been fine to request a longer extension in the first place. I'm sure your agent would want you to have enough time for revisions to make the book everything you want before going on sub.
