If you want to dissect this beast, there are chapters in the playback bar and video description. *This is episode 3* of a four-part series covering fall of my first year of full-time camping in 2021. The intermissions are a behind the scenes about the highs and lows of KZbin and the finances of doing it full-time. *EPISODE 1* covered spring and the backstory of how doing this full-time became possible kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZDXmZiVgZlkr8k *EPISODE 2* covered summer and the behind the scenes of filming and editing kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3-beHumZdqUmK8 *EPISODE 4* will be released in 2025 and Erin & I will be answering your FAQs between the winter trips. There are at least three millisecond-long glitches in this...normally I'd re-export but exporting a project this big is its own challenge so I decided to accept it and live with the shame for the rest of my life 😔

Jon - after Curtis (spouse) and I started watching you and Erin - we actually went out and bought a canoe. Sold my car, got a truck to tow it with and hit the many rivers, streams and lakes of the PNW. And it's because of YOU and this channel. I love seeing the world through your eyes. It gives Curtis and I a great feeling know the world will be left in hands like your's and Erin's. Young people that truly care about the environment, teaching others by example, leaving things better when you leave than when you got there. At 62 - we are both so thankful for younger people like yourselves. Where there are times of desperation for us boomers - we see people like you and Xander and others on KZbin and it gives us pause and reminds us there are wonderful younger people out there that do care about what is right. As always - thank you for your passion, your amazing camera work - and ALL that you do.

Hey, even if im one of your female viewers im not really a chatter, this will be my first and i don't know if not last comment, but. I found your videos really calming, im fighting very severe depression and videos like this help me with my battles, they bring me comfort just from seeing all those scenery and how calm and great those adventures are, im from country where we dont really have possibilities like this so im really gratefull i can be part of your journeys. I hope you channel will prosper and you will only getting more and more money to found more adventures. I really enjoyed the video!

Hi Jon - I am one of your female viewers and I am a fan. You are such a standup guy and carry high values through your life. my husband and I watch every new video that you post and look forward to each of them The scenery and the nature that you capture through your lens takes us both to a place beyond our corporate life, and we are very grateful to you for giving us a relaxing and beautiful place to escape I have never seen the northern lights in person and when you capture them in your videos, it’s a highlight for me If you ever start a business to take people on private trips, I would sign up in a heartbeat. Keep up the great work building content and posting videos you are making a difference!

Some comments... I'm in my late 60's and partially handicapped. As a result I watch a lot of YT in the evenings. What I like about your channel is your genuineness. I subscribe to numerous camping channels. The patterns I see is that ice fishing tends to get less views. Hot tent in the cold and snow are big- overcoming the elements.... Cooking over fires or on a woodstove is big. I also note that being environmentally consciences is also positive. Some of the things you read occasionally at the end is really appreciative. I think your wife along is really nice as the two of you interact well. Especially some of the silliness. I wish you well and I will continue to watch for I hope a long time. Also, FWIW, I'd have no problems if you had sponsors that are in tune to your adventures.

On analyzing the statistics of your videos, as the successful music producer Rick Rubin said: 1) the audience should come last when making art; 2) if you make something truly for yourself, you are doing the best thing you can do for the audience.; and, 3) If you cater to the audience you will end up making something that has already been done before. Keep doing what you do - it is a pleasure to watch.

I am literally in the middle of watching this video, and listening to you talk about your wins and fails, and how you tubers KZbin. I had to pause to comment. I first discovered your channel several months ago, and I have been binge watching all the past videos. I am not your average viewer, being a 73 year old woman. But I grew up in a camping and boating family and wouldn’t change it. I love your wholesome style. I love seeing the trees and birds that are new to me. I especially love the animals! I saw a moose from a distance once and have wanted to see one again ever since. But I don’t live in moose country, and don’t travel much anymore. Anyway, please keep entertaining me and all the others who watch you. I adore Erin, too. My favorite videos are with her, with Zander videos being second. And, I do not watch videos with nobody talking. I like the interaction between you and whoever is with you, and your “conversation”, (albeit one sided) with me on your solo trips. I started backpacking 5 years ago at 56 years old after watching 6 months of backpacking videos. At the start I was watching videos to set up my gear right the first time. Thankfully the recommendations I watched were good ones. After a couple of years of backpacking and no longer being interested in whether I had the right gear I started watching videos to rekindle the excitement and relaxation of being alone in nature. It is great to come along videos that capture those elements. I come back time and time again to your videos because you and the footage are inline with how I feel when backpacking. Thank you for all your shares.

I've been watching you for a couple of years now, and xander I think you were the first two I really started watching from the group up there in canada. So fun to get to see the first time you guys were together and it was a beautiful trip. Not only was there amazing wildlife but the sunrises. Were absolutely glorious. Thanks so much, And I for 1 am very grateful you guys have stepped out to do these videos and share them with us. I'm always happy when I see you on a trip with xander, Maxim, Jim.Just fun to watch you guys share your explorations with us. merry Christmas ❤❤

My wife and I enjoy all your videos, long or short form. A long video gives us the option to settle in for a couple hours and enjoy some great scenery and quality content. Or break it up into a couple parts if we're short on free time. The videos are nice without the interruption of the "paid sponsorship" But if you needed to do them to keep the lights on, we'd still be here to watch. Plus your naan bread recipes are what got us to try it in the first place. (Made naan bread breakfast burritos the other morning and they were great!) Maybe you could get a naan bread sponsorship? Keep up the good work and we'll keep watching! Merry Christmas! Happy new year!

Jon, I'm so glad you do you. YOUR content is the type of content the world needs, not superficial, flashy rubbish. You are appreciated and loved. Merry Christmas to you and the lovely Erin. I very much look forward to seeing more next year. PS. Hopefully some with Xander. Your genuine friendship is beautiful to watch 😜

Watching with great interest your comments around the 2:43 hour mark. Talking about the negative feedback must be difficult. I dabbled a very small amount into youtube content, but I think that this was one of the greatest fears, acceptance and negative comments.

First time visiting your channel. While listening (more than watching), I heard you giving thanks and saying thank you as you respectfully "dispatched" a fish. I've never fished (I'm city folk, born and raised); hearing your respect for what you've caught and respectively killed for sustenance inspired me to write this and subscribe. Kindest regards, and Merry Christmas from the West Coast of Canada.

I’ve been rooting for you since day one! I’ve been around since before you became Lost Lakes. A while before, actually! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but I’ve enjoyed the journey of watching your channel grow along with your camera skills. I always hit like and often put your videos on to fall asleep to just to give you a few extra views. You ever think of doing a meet and greet? In like, say, T Bay?!

Many years ago I moved to BC with the idea that I might do something similar to you Jon. It didn't pan out that way, which is why your shows are such a pleasure to watch mate. Just knowing that someone has done this, and really made a fantastic job of it too. A very happy Christmas to you and yours. ❤🎄🎄🎉🎊

This is one of my favorite channels. You and your wife are exactly what I wish I knew I wanted 20 years ago. I love that you read wilderness/ Exploration books, you canoe, and brace that cold Canadian weather. I also love Zander. He is also an inspiration. I want to do all of these things..but I live in the Arizona desert. lol
